The small district of Wustrow in the small town of Penzlin is located in the centre of the Mecklenburg Lake District, in the Tollense Basin nature reserve directly on Lake Tollensesee, the sixth largest and one of the cleanest lakes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the immediate vicinity is the Nonnenhof nature reserve, which has been recognised as a European bird sanctuary since 1988. In addition to ample opportunities for swimming and water sports, there is a 35 km circular route around the entire Lake Tollensesee, which leads over picturesque hills, through meadows and forests, and is ideal for hiking and cycling. In the village itself, a burial mound offers a unique panoramic view of Lake Tollensesee, while the natural monument of the Unequal Sisters (an oak and a beech in symbiosis), a nature trail at Wustrow Bay and a small natural boat harbour are also interesting. Shopping facilities, snack bars and a restaurant can be found in Penzlin, approx. 6 km away, whose most famous landmark is a medieval castle complex.
