About this house rental
We are located in the heart of downtown, so everything you need is just steps away from this suite! Island Pastry Haus is at your front door. Jakes on the Lake, Country Grocer, and Liquor stores are just a few things within walking distance. Lake Cowichan Marina is only 1km away, and entry to the Lake Cowichan river (famously known for river tubing in the summer) is accessible from the private dock on our property.
The suite:
Air-conditioning: The entire unit is heated and air-conditioned by a centrally located heat-pump. The windowed garage door can be opened if you want to join your indoor and outdoor living spaces!
Bedroom 1:
Contains a king sized bed. The front wall of this room is retractable, so that views of the outdoors can be enjoyed from bed. The bedside lamps contain both plugs and USB ports for charging electronic devices. The closet in this room offers additional pillows and blankets.
Bedroom 2:
Has a double bed, and a bunkbed containing 2 single mattresses. The top bunk is only accessible by ladder. This room has a window and a fan, if extra cooling is desired.
Bathroom:
Contains both a shower and bathtub. Extra towels, and toilet paper are provided. Basic soap, shampoo, and hairdryer are included.

Parking:
The building is situated in an area that has 2 hour parking from 9am to 6pm, on the street in front of the property. There is additional unlimited free parking within walking distance, in the surrounding area. A parking map will be provided in the days before your arrival.
Dock:
You will have access to your own private dock! Dock safety is required, and life-jackets are recommended for children, due to the depth of water off the dock. We do not provide life-jackets at this time. In the heat of summer, tubing down the river becomes a popular activity! You can rent tubes from the tube-shack a few doors down, or bring your own!
Boats:
This property sits at the mouth of Cowichan River, a stone's throw from the weir! Boats can be launched from either the Marina, or boat ramp next to the weir tower. The boat must then be brought through the weir, then secured at our dock.
Suite Accessibility:
Please note that accessibility and wheelchair options are relatively limited. To get to the suite, there is a narrow stairway to the back of the building. While inside the suite, access to the second bedroom is up two stairs. As such, those with accessibility problems might not have the easiest time navigating the space.

Impressed with the cleanliness and overall appearance and amenities, However there is no mention in the description that you have to navigate stairs to get down to the entrance
or that there are stairs to the bathroom and 2nd bedroom. Very difficult if you are a senior with some mobility problems. we found it very difficult going up and down stairs to get in and out of the unit and to the bathroom. Nice as it is we would not stay again.

In town next to restaurant and bar. Place had everything. If you stayed a week… a washing machine would be good. Breakfast by the dock and dinner by the BBQ. Would definitely recommend it..

Stayed here with my two brothers for a weekend getaway. The place was so lovely and clean with a wonderful layout. Whenever we needed to contact the host, they were quick to reply and timely to follow up on requests. The private dock was the highlight of our weekend. Definitely going to recommend this suite to family and friends!

This was a great place to stay, easy walking to local stores, restaurants & pub. Also, it was just so nice to seat on the dock & look at the lake, do a little swim. So peaceful.

This property was absolutely lovey for the moment we walked in. The well thought out design on this older property makes it feel modern and quaint. It is comfortable and convenient at every move. Although it's not huge, it never felt that way for my husband ,and 2 grandsons (10 and 15) and me. The kitchen is well stocked, the kids loved their bedroom with a cute little tucked away bunk in a cubby , and a full size bed for the 15 yr old. and the main bedroom has a fold away wall that you can open to give a morning view of the lake. They provided plenty of linens and offered if we needed more they would provide them.
We had full use of the yard, dock and firepit and never felt watched. Very private feeling.
The lake was perfect for us all and the boys swam nonstop. We Kayaked swam and even did a little crayfish catching ,providing hours of entertainment. We brought our own tubes and floated just down river 20 min. walking back by the road. If you don't have your own tubes, you can rent tube next door and take a gentle float down river on a 2 hr. tour and the rental company will pick you up and bring you back. The A&W is in walking distance for breakfast when I wanted a morning off and Jakes at the Lake is a wonderful restaurant for a dinner. The grocery store is only 3 minutes down the road though and you can BBQ and cook all your meals if you want to . I would definitely rent again. Loved our stay Thank you .

Everything was exactly how we pictured it! Host was amazing with many little “extras” that we noticed. We will return, as a matter of fact we are talking about regularly returing every year! Thank you!

Lovely, very clean apt that has its own dock, outdoor area to enjoy and lake access. Super comfortable bed (!) and great view of the lake. Right next door to a great little bakery, just down the street from the local coffee shop. Great grocery store just across the bridge. All within walking distance. Hosts were very helpful, we had a lovely stay!
