The entire hotel needs an update. You could describe it as “rustic” but that would apply generally not to specifics such as scratchy sheets and a very dated bathroom with no grab bars for older folks. The breakfast was adequate except that the orange juice was so old it tasted fermented. Overall for the price it was sufficient but not enticing enough to warrant another stay.

After coming to Ventura for 2 nights every week, I decided to try Clocktower Inn as I was familiar with the restaurant attached and it’s in a neighborhood I know.
I liked the fact that the hallways to the rooms are accessible only by using your room key. As a single woman traveling, I like the safety factor.
The room was a little small. Queen bed, a desk (with the hardest wooden chair!) a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and tv. There was a wooden chair with leather seat and back which was somewhat more comfy than the Spanish colonial style wooden chair mentioned earlier. Oh there was also a round wooden table back in the corner between the bed and the windows. Not very convenient for setting water or coffee or phone while in bed. A small nightstand would have been better.
The decor is Spanish colonial style which I do appreciate. However, since it’s starting to get cold at night, the red tile floors are quite chilly on bare feet. Bring slippers! Luckily the unit had decent heat and air. Bed was comfortable but the pillows are “durable” (hard).
The breakfast buffet was standard, but no hot proteins. Waffle maker, hot and cold cereal, fruit bowl, yogurt. Didn’t see decaf coffee at the buffet. I bring my instant decaf and they had hot water for tea so all was good.
I got a discount on the room from Hotels.com so I gave it a shot. I would recommend this place, but have my favorite I’ll probably go back to.

Paint can not cover up the fact the hotel is outdated. The bathroom was from the 1960s. With no grab bars, taking a shower felt dangerous. Repair of the bathroom tiles had been sloppy. Ventilation was poor. Chair comfort was bad.
Saturday/Sunday breakfast was OK/satisfactory. Monday breakfast was minimal. We would not stay again.

We were expecting continental breakfast but got a cooked buffet instead! The only concern was the king bed was too soft for spinal health.

First time here. Helping a friend whose father had died. Very relaxing to sit at end of day in fireplace room and just talk. Pretty property. Would definitely stay again

Overall an okay stay. Loved the proximity to local downtown restaurants and the Ventura Pier. Cons were being greeted by a furry at the front desk, and woke up to the slamming of doors outside in the hallway. The beds and linens weren’t the most comfortable. I personally don’t think that this was worth the $200 per night.

Perfect location. The Amtrak station, downtown Ventura and the beach can be reached in a few minutes by foot. Nice and clean hotel in Spanish style.

Older property but pretty well maintained. Furniture was rustic but that has some charm as long as you're not comparing it to a new hotel. Great value based on location and what other hotels in the area cost.

We had a wonderful stay at the Clocktower Inn. It is one of the most comfortable hotels I ever stayed in. The breakfast was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the employees were helpful and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. The Clocktower will be our go-to hotel whenever we visit Ventura.

The location of this property is quite convenient and walkable to restaurants, shops, the beach. The parking is safe, easy, and free. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
But the condition of this property is poor, outdated, the beds are quite uncomfortable, and the pillows felt like pieces of rocks. The bathrooms were old and the faucets wouldn’t close all the way, so they were leaking.

Mattress needs to be thrown out. Front desk provided extra blankets(3) to cushion the mattress wires.
Not comfortable all rooms were sold out.

Front desk agent was very friendly with lots of personality. The room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was solid. About $40 more expensive than comparable hotels but close to where I needed to be.
