We had a beautiful room with a large balcony with a view of the mountains. The staff in the hotel were charming and helpful. Breakfasts could be had in your room or the restaurant. There was yoghurt with homemade fruit compote, fruit salad, and delicious rolls and pastries.

I had booked 3 nights in the Alexander w/ 2 queen beds. My travel agency confirmation even showed 2 queens. Checked in at 1:30 AM w/ my mom & sister, only to find out they had us in a room w/ 1 queen bed (felt more like a double) and they had no rooms w/ 2 beds of any size for the remainder of the weekend! I had already paid for the hotel! So when it came time to tell the hotel they screwed up and I wanted my money back to book a different hotel for the remainder of the weekend, they kept stalling, saying that only the hotel manager could do that, and they expected him in at any moment, and he'd call me...for 3 days my phone never rang, and this is after digging further into my pocket to book another hotel on my own. \n \nOn top of that, if you want a cool SF location this one isn't bad, but don't plan on sleeping, as you're not really in Union Square, you're bordering on the Tenderloin district, and there's nothing but parties going on outside your window. Parking is attrocious, but the Alexander has valet parking available for $19/night! Holy cow! \n \nFor the price, the room wasn't any different than you'd find in Red Roof or Motel 6. Keep your money, or the Alexander certainly will!

This hotel was right next to my conference hotel, but considerably cheaper. The lobby looks okay and the staff was nice, but the hotel is considerably run down: barely attached handrails, stained carpet, threadbare sheets, and sad rooms. I could have overlooked these flaws for the price, but not after I found bed bugs in my room and luggage!

This is a really old hotel. It was so stuffy and it has the smell of the old places. This hotel seriously need to air out. The floor of the room look dirty. The ceiling in the bathing room was leaking, which remind me of the movie "" Dark water"", really creepy. But the hotel stuffs were all really friendly, great location and this hotel fit into my budget. I didn't expect much for the price I paid. So, if you are looking for a hotel of low price, great location and friendly stuff, this hotel is for you.
