Our hotel room was large clean and very comfortable, the shower was very good though the water overspilled the tray. We had issues with toilet cistern not refilling which was dealt with promptly. The room also had a private terrace. The air con was definitely needed as it was very hot during our stay. The staff were very helpful.
We ate at the restaurant once - the meal was not great. The duck was overcooked and dry. There was a ‘2 day conference’ held at the hotel the kitchen was not able to cope with their demands and the guests simultaneously. We did not have breakfasts.
The pool area was spacious with separate pools for kids, there wouldn’t have been enough loungers in high season.

Great facilities and friendly staff , not all facilities open due to the seasonal closing.

We were booked in for one night to stay with friends. They had arrived the previous evening and were put in one of the newer rooms but left the next day due to an overwhelming smell of solvent or something similar. There was no one on the reception desk for 10 minutes. There is no adequate signage as to where the rooms are. We were allocated a room in the older building which while being ok for a one night stay would not win awards. The on site bar was closed. The on site restaurant was closed. We didn’t get to see much else of the place as we had to meet our friends who had found another hotel in Saint Martin. Won’t be rushing back.

We stayed here while attending a family wedding on Isle de Re. It was perfect for our 2 day stay. The staff were friendly and the hotel was easy to locate. Looking forward to coming back for a longer holiday.

Very disappointed . Room completely soulless. Breakfast was self service and like being in a canteen. Not on a business trip.

Hotel Les Grenettes is basically hotel rooms located within a campsite on the French Island of Re. The island is a beautiful, tranquil, special place, though it is not an international tourist destination and so those who do not either know French or appreciate getting by in French may not really get it. A french campsite is full of kids riding their bikes, people walking to the showers in towels right beside your dinner table, ie "CAMP" so you have to be ready for this. There is alot to do, especially for families including pool, petanque (like bocci), tennis, ping pong and beyond the site you can bike, birdwatch, explore the towns or go to the beach. The hotel is very simple. The AC barely works so if you want cool and dry, you are in the wrong place. It is very unfancy, but it is about being out in nature yet having a hotel room with your own bathroom and shower. The staff are great. The restaurant is mediocre. The location is superb, within 7 minutes drive of two great island villages and one of the islands top two beaches (the other one is 25 min drive). It is also very close to the bridge back to the mainland.

Stayed at Les Grenettes for four nights in Aug 09. What we didn't know and there was no mention of this on any website is that the hotel sits in the middle of a massive campsite - fixed caravans, tents - hundreds of them. Once you get over the shock its not that bad, but don't go here expecting a cute little hotel.
There is a big swimming pool on site, big restauant, shop and snack bar which does great moules frites to take away.
The hotel bit is fine - the rooms have a back yard with sun loungers. Its a bit sparse and you can't see over the walls so you wouldn't spend all day there.
It can get a bit noisy at night, but thats not a huge issue unless you want to get to sleep at 9pm...
You can hire bikes at reception and the hotel is quite well situated to ride to towns to get food etc. There is no 'town' at Les Grenettes - nearest is La Noue which has a couple of nice restaurants in the town square.
You can walk to the sea from here, but beach is quite stony. Any beach you find on Ile de Re in August that is not stony will be heaving. Take shoes you can swim in and you'll get a bit more peace and quiet.

Hotel was very good with adequate amenities for a holiday hotel. The location was amongst caravans and tents with washing lines in full view of our patio terrace. The 200 metre walk to the beach was through the caravan park. The beach had no amenities and was unsupervised.

This hotel is primarily a camp site. The reception staff were friendly, the pool was fine, and cycles appeared quickly when requested. Room was OK, but TV was tiny and old fashioned. Pool and shop both closed at 7.00pm. Avoid the "Gastronomique" restaurant at all costs. Dreadful service, truly dreadful food, no concept of healthy eating. Over cooked deep fried vegetables in batter, small half lobster dripping in butter with curry powder over it. Restaurant staff in total dither, kept diners waiting for ever. Forgot to bring wine. Brought out cheese board, but then forgot to serve it to us. Not possible to obtain bar snacks at the bar. Not impressed. Probably OK for families self catering in mobile homes on campsite. Not convenient location for stroll to local restaurants or easy access to beach.
