My grandaughters and I really enjoyed the location of the Monarch Inn as well as the comfy beds and full kitchen where we could store our leftover pizza and keep our drinks cold. My grandaughter was so happy to bring her dog on thus trip.

I expected more based on the photos of the room I was booking. Apparently it was not available. Ours had tiny bathroom and it bothered me The rest was good and the area is beautiful.

Would stay there again. Lovely property, great location. Safe, multiple room options. Great breakfast delivered right to your room

On a 24 day road trip down the west coast, this was by far the most beautiful property we stayed at (and one of the most moderately priced). The room shows a little age, but nothing that deterred from the stay.

The property is pretty run down and parking is difficult unless you have a small car.

It was the best B&B place! breathless sights around the place made it real special for me and my wife!

The location and the grounds are unmatched! The interior of the property is in need of a deep clean and update. Charm is one thing, stained carpets and furniture portray a lack of maintenance. I sent my in-laws for 2 nights and I was hoping it would be a sweet getaway in a picturesque setting but just the exterior was...
They would not stay again, nor would I pay $350/night for such lodgings.

It was a little hard to find but we enjoyed our stay there. It was quiet and comfortable. Didn’t hardly see anyone else staying there. Very pleasant lady who brought our breakfast we would stay there again. Foggy in morning but that’s only the weatherman fault. LOL.

We had a wonderful stay. Although our neighbors were yelling at each other at midnight! Not the place for that kind of seen.

We stayed in the monarch room and had a slight view of the ocean. It had everything we needed in the room, an iron and ironing board, extra pillows, coffee machine, microwave, fridge, hair dryer. Very friendly staff. It is very old and mostly original which I prefer rather than new. Overall happy with my stay.

Lovely Victorian retreat next to the forest above cliffs, dolphins swimming in view from our ocean view! Comfy bed, beautiful gardens, great set-up and clean.

This property is slightly older and isn’t as new, however is it very cute and quaint. There is a slight smell in the Holiday House. Although we absolutely loved the location and the fact that there was a fully gated area where our dogs can roam. The breakfast was very continental. It arrived on time and we got to eat it in the little kitchen area. Overall, a very cute place!

Quiet beautiful grounds. The room was small but had everything needed. It's a short 12-15 minute walk down to capitola village. If you are doing dinner at shadowbrook, it's close enough for shadowbrook to pick you up for free. The breakfast was simple but delivered to the room each morning, which is great. Will definitely come back again.

The staff were great and the grounds were beautiful but it could use a good cleaning. Dusty, and shower looked stain but overall we had a great stay!

Great location in a historic property. Bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast delivered to our room was very nice, especially the fresh fruit.
Two issues: about half of all light bulbs were burned out in every light fixture in the room and bathroom, and most important the bathroom is way over due for a refurbish. Neither one of us used the shower - it just wasn't acceptable. The tub and tile was very unappealing. Just because the core structure is 100 years old doesn’t mean you can't update and upgrade the furnishings and fixtures, especially if you are going to charge a premium rate (>$300/night).

Lovely old converted home. I love the views of the sea

The property has a million dollar view but the grounds seemed very unkept. Service was good, breakfast was good but pastries seemed frozen. Bed was very comfy, and the short walk to the village was great.

Staying in the ocean view room was a little slice of paradise. The room was beautifully appointed with ocean views all around. Your room made me feel spoiled the grounds were so beautiful one didn’t really need to leave the property. I could get anywhere. I wanted in about six minutes. I definitely recommend this room to people that want peace and quiet and beautiful views.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I felt like I was in a vintage fairy forrest. We loved it. Everything on the grounds was gorgeous. So much greenery everywhere. Well maintained plants and trees. So pleasant.
Our room was cute. The mattress was old and gave me the worst back ache, it sunk in. The bathroom was huge and super roomy. I loved the option to open the old fashioned windows and see the garden from our room. The shower was kind of icky because the drain had green rust all over it. Other areas of the shower were a little icky, but overall the room was great. We got breakfast daily and the people who worked there were magnificent. The cleaning ataff always did a great job. We would definitely go back.

Super beautiful place. Summer was super helpful with everything. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great visit. Just bring walking shoes to town. and maybe some bubble bath.
