nice room ,clean and very quiet, also FRESH AIR available as it was possible to open the window instead of the usual plastic sealed room.shower room good, modern, heated towel rail ,no nasty tiles, illuminated mirror.Had lunch in the pub, absolutely fine but the real winner was the indian restaurant, part of the same business.Absolutely fantastic food.I was expecting standard dishes but this was different and great.Loved every minute of the stay

The hotel is lumped in with the bar and the restaurant in terms of staffing. It feels like an afterthought rather than really looking after guests. Not enough staff. Not really knowledgeable when the hot water didn’t work when I wanted a shower in the morning. They had turned the water off so they could only offer a shower after breakfast when it had heated up. Room was ok. Would have liked a bath but only a shower. Disappointing stay, not good value at all.

I emailed the Hotel before writing this review, but have not received a reply back. So, here goes….for £94 per night B&B in high season, I did expect that the room would be basic. What I also expected was that the room would be clean. I unlocked the door to an unwelcoming room, drab and in need of decoration. I was attending a wedding so needed a room as a base. I got back to the room quite late, and just needed to get into bed. Firstly, I couldn’t close the sash window, which could do with a good clean. I closed the curtains holding the bottom of the fabric because they were grimey. All of my bags went onto the desk because I felt the carpet and chair could also do with a good clean. When I pulled back the bottom sheet, the mattress protector was horribly stained that I slept, cold and miserable, on the top of the quilt. The plug was jammed in the sink. I tried to push it up from underneath but it wouldn’t budge. It was also cracked. The toilet was clean and sanitised but I didn’t want to use the shower which was mouldy in places. Everything could do with a deep clean and cheering up. The staff that I encountered were pleasant. I couldn’t face breakfast there so I checked out and ate elsewhere. If anyone asked me today if I would recommend The Kings Head Hotel, I certainly wouldn’t.

90 quid for a narrow single bed and a tiny shower room in a cupboard on a high street in South Wales is pushing it if you ask me. I booked it out of desperation but l have stayed in many way way nicer places on many occasions for a little over half that price. Why so expensive?!?!
