Managers (Ray and Jose) inclusive of kitchen staff and housekeepers provided excellent service. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues who plan to travel to Havana Cuba.

Enjoyed stay at the El Encanto. Staff is excellent Ray and Jose (the receptionists) were very helpful to all our needs.
Only negative is that the surrounding area isn't in the best condition/safety level.

We had made a reservation for 2 rooms through Expedia. On arrival, we were informed that the rooms were not available. We immediately made a reservation in a different hotel through our own means. We later were informed that as the reservation had been made through Expedia and it was already the day of arrival, no reimbursement could be made. Horrible!

The property is clean, safe and the staff are very accommodating. This is a family run place and they work hard to make it enjoyable for everyone. It is not far from the Marcone. It is noisy in the area. We were there new years weekend so it was late night sounds. Just important if you are a light sleeper. If you want to see the real Havana, this is a good spot. The area feels rough at first, but we always felt safe. It is a 10 minute walk to Old Havana where most tourist items were located.

The location is great. It is close to the Malecon and the city center. Easy access to public transportation. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. The only downsides were the low water pressure for the toilets and the bad internet connection. Otherwise, the place is excellent.

Encantados con El Encanto! Beautiful property in a great location to use as a base for walking around Havana. What makes it truly special is the staff and their care of their guests. Front desk, housekeeping, breakfast service are all done by wonderful people who show a true pride in what they do, their guest house and making their guest feel comfortable and at home. We can't wait to go back and visit them again!
Everything is kept in great working condition, spotlessly clean and the breakfast is the highlight of the day!

Great location - only 10 minutes on foot from old havana and 2 minutes from the Malecon - easy to navigate to both areas from here. Room was very good in traditional old building - room was spacious and beds were comfy - air conditioning and fans in the room which is essential in Havana! Roof terrace if you climb up has plenty of seating and has nice covered area. Everything was Immaculately clean and shower and bathroom facilities all worked well. If I had a negative it would only be to say that although the breakfast is included and food and choice is fine for Cuba (bread/ham/cheese/fruit/eggs and local fresh fruit juice) I'm sure that travellers would appreciate the food being stored in a glass fronted fridge - all food is covered but undoing all the cellophane is a nuisance. A bit of music and having a fan on in this area would also be bonus :) overall it's a great location and rooms are clean, large and quiet - essential to escape from the hustle and bustle of Havana. Very good value for money. Wifi free at breakfast and evening (unusual in cuba!) Bar in hotel was never open - but you can buy cans of Kola, beer and bottles of water from them. Would stay here again.

The accommodations were good. The only negative were the conditions of the towels and the loss of electricity. This is a great central location for walk-in or taking a short cab ride to Old Havanna.

Friendly staffs who didn’t speak English well. Their currency exchange rate was better than anywhere else. They arranged airport transportation for us, one driver was late and the other didn’t show up.

The staff were very friendly and helpful- everything from arranging my cab to the airport to laundry service to a bar on the rooftop was splendid. The room was clean, had air conditioning, hot water- everything worked well. It's a beautiful place.
To those who don't know Cuba it might be a little off-putting by its location in that you may think you are in a "bad" part of town. But that's not true- the people are super friendly (and I walked these streets a lot- at night- even Saturday night- by myself), families are outside playing together, and it's very safe. The people here remind me of rural Americans- that kind of friendly- even though they live in the city. One drawback is it is a bit of a walk to Veija for most people, but local taxies (horse/carriage taxis, for example), are all over Havana so that could be arranged if needed I'm sure.

It's very difficult to write a review about a hotel in Havana because it is not on a level playing field with one say in London or Barcelona. The hotel is a little difficult to find, which is not their fault but more that of the infrastructure of Havana. The hotel is a 3 storey building with rooms on the first and second floors with a rooftop bar on the third level. The exterior and interiors of the hotel are really well looked after and the family that run the place takes a great amount of pride in keeping it in a good and clean condition. As is the case anywhere outside the very centre of Havana, the area surrounding the hotel can be a bit daunting for someone with high expectations of infrastructure, ie pavements and roads and you get a glimpse of how the real people of old Havana have to live.
If you can't live without Wifi you shouldn't be going to Cuba anyway but it is available with a limited signal, every day from 7 to 9am and 7 to 10 pm in the lobby of the hotel. We stayed for three nights and everybody was really friendly and helpful. Had the best pina colada we had in Havana in the rooftop bar where we were also treated to some great Cuban dancing by members of the family who run the place. It is not luxurious, but bedrooms were clean and aircon worked well. Breakfast on all days was a buffet of freshly prepared fruit, fruit juice, cheese, sliced pork loin, omelette or scrambled eggs (alternating days), toast, tea and coffee and other bits and pieces.
