Let me start with saying the location is perfect right near the beach but I would never stay there again even if you paid me. The building seems like it has a lot of history but it reminded me of an old run down apartment building that included the sketchy people hanging on the porch. The bad had mattress covers that looked like eas covered in coffee and the bathroom had an odd smell about it. For the price please please save your money. How this is 6.8 reviews makes me never trust hotel.com again.

Basic old hotel that has not been upgraded in 50 years. Nice porch for sitting. Ten foot ceilings. View of ocean is nice and you will get a sunrise. Corner rooms give extra window. Free coffee. Fridge in room. Lighting ok. Window A/C.
People smoke on porch. Bathroom is 50 years old. Shower is corner euro model shoulder wide. Nearly every time I used the key, I needed to go back to front desk to have it redone, electronics card key. 3 floors, no elevator, steep stairs.

When you are checking in at this hotel, you are greeted with a full page of terms to agree to. Hidden at the bottom of that list, you are told you will be charged for a room deposit, which I later called about and I was berated by desk person, "read before you sign." The initial person at the desk made no mention of this and just asked for my credit card, which I thought was odd because I already pre-paid for the room on Hotels.com. I just figured it was to verify something, but it is a room deposit to which I learned later it would be refunded 3-5 business days later. Apparently this hotel has had bad experiences with their guests and they are trying to protect themselves.
Here's an idea, why don't you list your intention of charging for a deposit at the TOP of the page and highlight or have your check in person mention it! Most people have been traveling in the car for awhile, may be tired and would just like to check in without being greeted with a laundry list of terms. Another recommendation, change your tone with the way you speak with your customers. There are plenty of other hotels to stay at in Belmar.
In terms of the room, it was clean and sufficient. If you are a light sensitive sleeper, I don't recommend this hotel as our room's curtains were very light and allowed light to seep in.

It was perfect rooms are small but clean and so close to the beach they had Dunken Doughnuts and bagels for breakfast. Just such a cool vibe too sitting on their porch with the sea breeze

Well the website was giving me trouble and I called to see if I could get the room for the same rate guy said yes got to the property and was charged. If it wasn’t late I’d of slept in my car but I like the place been staying off an on for almost 30days. But I feel that the price that I was told should have been what I paid.

Older property, suitable for a solo traveler who just wanted to be near the beach 1/2 a block to ocean Ave! The room was cleaner than most of the hotels I have stayed at recently and I truly appreciated the water bottles! The floors were kinda of warped which made for a rollercoaster getting to the bathroom. Overall nothing bad to say, would have liked a better coffee option though. The machine was having trouble and several people were waiting to use it.

It’s an old boarding house feel. Great location right near the beach. Old towels, pillows, etc, but pretty clean. Loud window unit AC. Very nice staff. Friendly feel with nice big front porch where, unfortunately , people sometimes smoke. Overall worth the price.

Not fancy, but clean and comfortable with very nice and helpful staff. There is no parking which was not good when arriving on a hot Sunday afternoon. I had to park 8 blocks away due to the beach crowd.

Belmar Inn sounded nice, walking distance to the beach, friendly check-in but it was more like housing project than an inn. We had to walk up to the 3rd floor with all of our bags in a non air conditioned narrow hallway that we had back up from because there was not enough room for people to go up and down at the same time. There were about 5 rooms in each floor with solid steel doors like they were expecting trouble. When we got in our 10X10 room, the refrigerator was leaking water across the floor and table that it was on. We showered after the beach. There were multiple holes in the walls and ceiling. The shower stall previously had a door but now had a shower curtain rigged in its place. The AC couldn’t keep up with the heat that day in the 3rd floor. Loud music from some of the rooms. It really didn’t feel safe, although the rest of the neighborhood seemed nice. We stayed for 2 hours. Checked out and went to a Hampton Inn 20 minutes away. The cost was reasonable but that should have tipped us off.

It was far away from the boardwalk and other restaurant. According to the information on the site it was closer. Too msny stairs in the motel. My husband has a hard time walking with his knee problems. I pick this motel Inn because it showed close to bars , restaurant and area events. We had to leave a day early. We only stayed 1night not the 2 we expected.

We enjoyed the fact that they are very close to the beach (1 block and a half away). Restaurants are within walking distance.
This time our room was on the 3rd floor so that was a downer. We prefer the 1st floor. Overall we always enjoy dusting at the Belmar Inn.

This property is by far the worst place i have ever dealt with. The room I checked in to was uninhabitable due to a chemical odor.
Within 5 minutes of entering the room my eyes were burning and tearing and my wife's throat was burning. The person that checked us in, came to the room and agreed that there was a strong odor and said is was spray used by the cleaning staff. I spoke to the manager by phone who said there were no other rooms available. I was forced to leave.
I contacted Expedia about a refund and a day later they told me that it was a non refundable and I had to speak to the hotel.
I called and Tom at the front desk said that the manager Brett was not available. I explained the situation with the room and I was told not to expect a refund. I asked to have the manager call me back and he said not to expect a call back. I asked if I called back if a call would be put through to him and I was told he would not answer the phone.
Expedia was kind enough to provide a credit towards future travel.

Loved that this hotel was old, I’m sure there is a lot of history. Price was great. Easy walk to the beach. No elevator so be prepared for stairs. Shower was old but relatively clean. I would definitely stay there again.

Good for a one night stay, or if you are only going to be in the room to sleep. Almost all the fixtures (Plumbing and Electrical) were pretty loose. The room was clean, didn’t expect anything special. Overall it wasn’t anything I wasn’t expecting for the price.

Lynn at the front desk is an angel, she was so sweet and helpful. It's not the Ritz, but we stayed one night to see a show at the Stone Pony. Clean room, friendly staff, free bagels and donuts in the morning, and a nice big porch to relax on.

Easy walk to the ocean front on one end and shark river on other end. Sunset was glorious from Marina grill at the intersection of river road and 12th av.
Really missed an elevator for 85 year old mom, but she did it !
The front patio and couches are very comfy and inviting. Street parking is tricky and can be elusive but i was lucky.

This was the perfect place for a trip to the beach. Nothing fancy, but clean, quiet and with a huge porch in front and a large room on the bottom floor to hang out in. Very friendly personnel. The best part was the proximity to the beach. The beautiful boardwalk was a block away and it was less than a mile from the Belmar train station.
