Good location. Nice and quiet hotel felt like I had the whole place to myself. It’s an old building that has some character, I will definitely stay here again. The only bad thing about this place is that there is no daily maid service to clean the rooms.

I love this hotel, it is my 4th stay here, and the facility and all inclusive service are always superb, in my view.

Fortunately, the torture only lasted one night:
1. There was no hot water in the room. According to the front desk, there was no hot water in other rooms as well.
2. The front door and window faced the bar area, approximately 15 feet away. If the drapes were open, the bar patrons would peer into your room.
3. Due to the unpopularity of the Hotel, there was only one patron in the bar on this weekend night. Most of the guests were heading to other hotel bars in the area. This was actually good since it was quiet. Bar closed at 1130 p.m.
4. The “All Inclusive Food and Drink” deal is unsatisfactory. Unless you have problems with mobility, there are much better restaurants and bars within walking distance. The lunch and dinner provided by this special is mediocre, you can get much better elsewhere. Unless you speak Spanish, you will have to have the waiter translate your order to the cook who only understands Spanish. The exceptional waiter is the only employee that speaks English. The menu is also in Spanish. The free breakfast is tasty but they provide a fixed quantity. Other hotels in the area also provide as good or better breakfast in a buffet fashion.
5. If you pay your hotel bill with a credit card, the hotel will charge you an extra 6%. This is not a foreign transaction fee, but a scam. No other hotel, restaurant, or store that I know of charges this type of fee.
6. Bottom Line: No Hot Water, Subpar Food and Drink special, Credit Card Scam

This is a little gem in the center of San Jose. What a find. The staff are second to NONE (Patricia, Monica, Darren). The rooms are clean, the food was terrific and the libations were plentiful. You walk into a deco-like lobby with just enough outdoors to know you're in Costa Rica. Highly recommend the all inclusive for an additional $10/day. Its good for this hotel and their sister property down the street. You'll be even after your first two drinks. My only wish was a small pool or an area outside to sit and relax. But having everything you could want in San Jose just a few minutes walk away more than made up for this. Thanks guys...Had a blast!!!
