Rooms were HOT with only a ceiling fan! Need a vent to the hall and a mirror and some wall hooks would be nice to have in the room. Staff is WONDERFUL and very nice

First, I want to clarify that my feedback is based on the expectation set by the hotel’s presentation on hotels.com. From the descriptions and images provided, there was no indication that the accommodations would be hostel-like, particularly concerning shared bathrooms and showers. This discrepancy was surprising.
My intent is not to disparage but to express that the reality of our stay did not align with the expectations set by the advertisement. I believe transparency in the amenities offered, including the nature of the accommodations, is crucial for informed decision-making by potential guests.
This is not a hotel. It’s a hostal and the pictures and information provided are misleading.
We rented a single room and in the pictures there were very cozy tiny home type accommodation with full bathroom. For us it’s a very negative surprise to realise the rooms were in a second room of a building at the very end of the property. Plus the most negative surprise was that that we had to share the toilet and shower with the entire floor. There are one set for men and other set for women.
The property is across the Rick Coffee. It’s very famous because it offers paid cliff jumping, and ridiculously loud party at the sun set. So,
However, the (hostel) rooms were very silent on the night. The property has swimming room and extremely beautiful tropical tres.
It has a large private parking.
Nonetheless, when we arrived by car , we asked a local to direct us to Bak a Yaad. The loca

Negril finally has my "go-to" spot: Bak A Yaad Hostel & Cottages! Initially, I booked a week, but this hidden gem was so incredible, I extended my stay four or five times. Nestled in the beautiful West End, Bak A Yaad is a family-owned oasis managed by the wonderful Jordan, his brother Cameron, and their amazing staff – Allecia, Elaine, and their local team.
Words can't do justice to how amazing Bak A Yaad is. From the diverse range of accommodations to the incredible hospitality, everything about this place is perfect for an epic Jamaican experience.
As a retired Navy veteran and ocean enthusiast, I'm searching for a diving base for Wounded Warriors, veterans, and their families. Bak A Yaad's location, atmosphere, and values perfectly align with my vision. I see a future filled with introducing these heroes to scuba diving, collaborating on coral reef restoration projects, fostering local education, and empowering communities through online income generation.
Bak A Yaad is more than just a place to stay for me, it's a springboard for creating positive change in Jamaica and the local communities & especially the educational resources to the children.

I had stayed here @Bak A Yaad once before recently beginning my Jamaican adventure for several days and loved everything about it! So I decided to come back for sure when I extended my stay in Negril.
From the fantastic location and secluded Jamaican jungle style of the resort itself, a laid-back relaxing pool deck area & refreshing pool to the convenience of having a full kitchen access, BBQ & a community clubhouse with wide screen smart TV, ping-pong table & plush couches to interact & network with other international travelers I've already extended my trip by 2 weeks with most of it staying right here, because this place just can't be beat for value & everything else are bonuses!
To top all the great aspects of Bak-A-Yaad, the owner Jordan is a Jamaican & US citizen, a cool dude along with his younger brother Cameron and their absolutely sweethearts of housekeeping, Elaine & Allecia (local Jamaican mother & daughter), they keep the property pristine - hard to do considering the jungle setting & the rooms, bathrooms & showers very clean & tidy! (PS-make sure you drop the ladies a little something before you leave, they work very hard keeping everywhere clean especially the common use kitchen area!) :o)
And if you decide to extend your Jamaica trip like I did or return to this little hidden gem in the near future I think you'll find them all welcoming you back like old friends & family, I did for sure, now if they'll only let me move in for good I'll be set for life! LOL!

I can't say enough about Bak A Yaad, in my 30+ yrs of traveling as an original "Cyber Gypsy" :o), this is top 3 in Hostels & hybrid Resorts that offer a multi-tiered accommodations with a hostel, private rooms & private cottages all set in an ancient Jamaican Jungle!
I booked multiple stays after my first few days in the private single rooms, with small queen or double size bed I think, plenty of space for 1 or 2 people & Super Clean!
There were a couple little suggestions I made to Jordan, the owner, who's on site & a very friendly & welcoming, dual citizen I think he said Jamaican & US via Miami, either way the whole staff at Bak A Yaad are just fantastic, especially also the local Jamaican housekeepers Elaine & Allecia are both sweethearts, mother & daughter actually (Please make sure to drop them a tip, a little bit helps them a lot, cool my fellow travelers & digital nomads, gotta spread some LOVE especially on this magical island of Jamaica!) :o)
The property overall is set in a little private jungle across from Rick's Cafe in the West End but you'd never know it as the double high walls on the outer property & the high security gated inner walls along with the tall trees on the property all over drown out any noise that comes from Rick's, plus it's a place you got to visit for the overall entertainment value not to mention the EPIC NEGRIL JAMAICA SUNSETS are best viewed sipping a cold one from their patio!
Location, atmosphere, amenities & staff you'll love it!
