I was disappointed with this hotel. The breakfast was a bare minimum, hardly a buffet. I dined in the restaurant Botanico for dinner and i found it expensive and not that good. The hotel is also a bit hidden from the center of town. In their defense, it appears the hotel is not finished. The elevator wasn’t working and there was plenty of construction going on. I am not usually a complainer, but I won’t stay here on my next trip to Valdivia.

Expedia lies again! This is a nice clean property with nice sized rooms, wide hallways and wooded area surrounding property and plenty of free parking.
No business center, bellman,or concierge.
This is a solid 3 star hotel and it is fine. Why Expedia overrates this hotel is very misleading. Nicest part is the checkin desk has young university staff attending hotel mgmt school and actual try to help guests. Very refreshing!

Beautiful property and view. Staff was so helpful and front staff even helped me print something I needed. There was a broken light in our room that they tried to fix but couldn’t. Staff was very prompt and explained they would fix it the next day after trying for about 20 minutes. Our adult kids loved the outdoor hot tub.

Since the change in administration I love this hotel Puerta del Sur. Friendly and respectful staff, good amenities, amazing views of the river and Cau-cau bridge. Good breakfast. No spiders and mosquitoes as it was in the past. I fully recommend this one special when you book thru Expedia, much cheaper than by the front desk.

Clean hotel and well located
But during our stay, an electricity shutfown occurs from 20:00 hrs until 12:00 am next day.
So I expected some courtesy from the hotel (discount or bonus for the next stay),but nothing of that happens.

Showed up a little early and the clerk had already our room available for us. Very clean and quiet, I really love this place, the view is spectacular.
Best breakfast ever with fresh bread, and pastries. Staff very friendly. Definitely I'll come back.

Nice hotel with river view. They control the temperature of the room and mattress is just standard. You depend on other visitors behave since the acoustic isolation is not great but there's no street noise. The restaurant was not open but there are good options around 10 minutes walking. Overall, I would recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel although we must have visited in the off season because there weren't many guests. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful although we experienced a language barrier so did not find out everything we could have if we spoke Spanish.
The grounds are excellent with beautiful plants, a pool/spa and bar and a launch on the river.
We thought the beds comfortable and bathroom spacious.
We were disappointed that the cable was limiting to non-Spanish speakers.

Great place for relaxation, peace and quiet. Unfortunately we were unable to make use of the facilities as we were only passing through on an overnight stay. Would thoroughly recommend this as one of the better hotels we stayed in.

Older luxury hotel with determined staff made for a pleasant stay. Staff was very friendly, though language was a bit challenging. The grounds and ambience were pretty amazing. Our room was very large and clean. The plumbing needs some work with sputtering water at times. All in all I would definitely reccomend.

I have no complaints. It's a bit far from main town, but it's worth the walk.

The location was perhaps the best of hotels we saw while walking all over Valdivia. It is on Isla Teja, and extremely enjoyable university district. We walked comfortably all over the Isla and it was great. restaraunts in walking distance (several kilometers) were outstanding. The main fish marketplace is about a 10-15 min. walk. Very easy, although the weather was spectacular when we were there in early November.

Nice and confortable. Well trained and friendly personnel, an excelent bar, easy access and car parking. Near the center of Valdivia and the riverside drive. A fine combination of Nature and confort

I initially really liked the hotel - beautiful setting, very quiet, very comfortable beds, good breakfast buffet, large pool. However, for me, that was overshadowed by my check-out experience. First, the girl at the reception tried to charge me DOUBLE my confirmed Expedia rate. After discussion, she went down twice with the amount, but still tried to charge me USD 50 over what was agreed. Even when she finally gave in and "allowed" me to pay the confirmed amount, she still tried to hide the overcharge in the Dollar / Peso conversion. I don't know if it was simple incompetence or a willful attempt to overcharge, but I don't really care. Through it all, she made me feel that it was all my fault. Very frustrating, and three days of relaxation were for nothing. Wouldn't go there again, Valdivia has other nice hotels.
