‘This is not a hotel’ is the first thing the hostess told us when she first called. The villa indeed is their own home and this is made very clear during our stay. The hostess treated our kids as a strict schoolteacher and to top it all off at the end of the evening also yelled upstairs that we were playing with the heating, which we were not. In the Summer this place might be nicer with the outside pool but in the winter this would not be suitable for a family vacation.
Price and quality do not go hand in hand, far overpriced.

Upon arrival, we were told to open the large gates leading up to the driveway of the house. The gates were what I can only describe as something you would see at a 'haunted' house in really poor condition. Our first impressions were not great as the accommodation appeared very old and run down. As we approached the house, the ground were extremely unkempt: overgrown, unclean pool and the tennis court area had seen better days. As we opened the main door, we noticed the wallpaper in the hallway was falling off the walls and the general interior was very tired.
It must be noted when we arrived, it was around 37 degrees in Lyon and the house was extremely warm. We were told by the host not to open any windows (no air con) due to the large mosquitoes. My partner and I spent 5 minutes in the room, where we made the decision to leave.
I would imagine 10/20 years ago, this would have been a beautiful home but there are far better options (as we later found out) in the nearby area. The accommodation was not cheap and does not match the images provided. I have tried to contact the house who has ignored my messages and I am currently in contact with hotels.com to obtain a refund.

Absolutely lovely Belle Époque home overlooking Lyon. A wonderful very large garden with swimming pool and tennis court. Of course, being winter we could not make use of those facilities but imagine that it would be amazing as soon as the weather becomes warmer.
Our hosts were charming and our room very comfortable. Excellent breakfast too.
Although it is not in the centre of Lyon it only took us 15 minutes by car to get into Lyon where it was very easy to park at the Opera.
Highly recommended for those who want the experience of staying in a beautiful Lyonnais home in great comfort.
