HOSHINOYA resort is a great place for relaxation. The environment filled with natural forest and maple trees. The service was exceptional. However, there were mosquitoes problem possibly harvested by the pond in the property. Hopefully the hotel can find solution to help with this problem. Otherwise, this resort is beautiful, quiet, and comfortable.

my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Hoshinoya Karuizawa. We had a wonderful stay. The onsen within the hotel was really good. Both of us enjoyed the facilities. We would like to especially thank the staff Miyu( dining),Saru, Takahashi(spa) and Leo san (front desk ) who took care of us during our stay .

What a peaceful place...you don't have TV and cables here. It has a bueatiful garden with multiple ponds. The bath facility is so so. Do not expect too much. This is the place for meditation and not-think-anything. The room price is going up too much if you not reserve earlier than you expect.

The water side room is spacious and the balcony is nice, you can see and listen the stream running and ducks swimming along. However, some rooms are near the walkway and you can see people walking along the stream, (I.e. they can see you as well) and gardener would be working in the morning which produces some noises. Staff are helpful and getting a taxi to stroll around for sightseeing is easy. You can either call the hotel car to travel around the hotel district or just on foot. The area is best for avoiding heat from summer.

Beautiful property, wonderful public onsen, and excellent restaurant. Very peaceful location.
While I loved my room (which was high up and overlooked the forest), it involved climbing some very steep stairs. Travelers with mobility issues should be careful about which rooms they reserve.
I stayed two nights and wish that I had stayed three.

Very peaceful and beautiful. However, lots of steep stairs and some concern for elderly travelers and overall safety.

I thought it’s not really friendly for the disabled people and old people,as me I boken my leg ,and then my booking is in the third floor. But the staff told me it’s the second floor. But actually it’s should be the third floor. And didn’t help me to change to the first floor. And as I look around it’s not full actually. But the stuff didn’t help me to change to the first floor.so I didn’t had to walk around the resort area. And didn’t go to use those onsen, because of I need to upstairs and downstairs. It’s really hard for me to do. But the stuff is really helpful and nice to us. And at the last day I can walk a little.then I found out the lounge is free for the Guest have some local snacks and coffee and juice, but one of my suggestions is should be serve the fresh Mike to the guest as well. Because not everyone like to drink black coffee and not everyone like to use the Mama coffe creamer!and in this morning they have some famous cake in Japan serve for the Guest. Not bad,but it’s really too sweet for us.

The parking area is a bit far from the place we stayed, requiring us to take a shuttle bus. If we return to the hotel late at night, we will have to walk back on foot, which is quite inconvenient.

We are over 85 year old couples and they assigned our room in third floor. Unfortunately no elevator. So we asked first floor instead but were asked for extra charge for over ¥52700 We finally took second floor without extra charge. We are disappointed that one of the best hotel around the world without elevators

Beautiful resort. So pretty during Autumn season. Come here to enjoy the scenery and slow things down. We really enjoyed the breakfast and onsen facility here. Love their afternoon tea and sake bar!

It'll be better if this property is more accessible from JR station. No one wants to wait in the cold wind for 20mins to wait for a bus or taxi.
