I stay sep 6 to 10, 2024 elevators don't work, dirty, bedsheets with hair, refrigerator and tv don't work. Just part of the decoration. Staff member with bad actitud and only speak portuguese. I was ask 11 times if i was checking out. Front desk staff would not let me into my room becase they didn't understand the room number. DON'T STAY HERE
ALSO HOMELESS PEOPLE SLEEPING IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL WITH IRINE AND FECAL REMEINS 10 FEET FROM THE BUILDING.

Really good hotel, clean, comfotable, near everything. Good breakfast with fruits, cakes, breads and grains. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The building is old, but thats the beauty of the city. Downtown Rio has a lot of homeless people, but if u be carefull (not show ur phone and valuable items) you'll be fine. The hotel is in a convenient location, near the busses, metro stations and vlt, and there are a bunch of good restaurants around it too. Will definitely be returning.

They stated that they speak English, a lie. Beds are fro the WWI .. very bad and uncomfortable. They said the have WiFi, a lie too (network name is available but doesn't provide connection!). Breakfast is prepared with a special bacterial receipy that gives you abdominal pain and diarrhea. Cold coffee and expired products. Dirty neighborhood with urine on walls and homeless people all over.
They said it's a family place: my kids need therapy after this visit.
Worst experience ever!

The area is unsafe and the hotel room was unclean, it smelled and when they “supposedly” cleaned the room, even notorious dirt in the floor was not cleaned.
SPECIALLY UNSAFE FOR SOLO FEMALE TRAVELERS

Good location. Terrible service. The woman at the reception didn't even speak a word in English. Only 1 out of 7-8 employees I came in contact with spoke English. This is unacceptable for a hotel that advertises internationally.I had to wait 35 minutes to be checked in.

Good and unexpesive option in the Downtown Area, easy for public transportation. On the downside, internet didn't work in the room, which was a boomer, so there was an option of using it downstairs in a common area.

Good for short stays, great location if you need to be near the Downtown Area (good cultural options around, plus it's close to the American Consulate), easy public transit to the beaches and other areas of town. The place has no internet working though so this is a major boomer and you will need to buy some data in case you need the internet, or go to the Starbucks next door, where you can use it for 90 minutes if you purchase anything.

Check-in was a breeze. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Building is old but front entrance looks nice and elevator us new. The room is outdated but very clean. Shower had good pressure. I stayed in 10th floor and wven though building is old and room definitely needed a make over, I didn't have the musty smell some where complaining about. However, the area is not good specially at night and weekends. It's in the centro where all the commerce is, so during off work hours all you mostly see is homeless people. If you're just there for a layover as I was then great, but if you like safety, restaurants, nightlife, shops, beach etc, its not the neighborhood to stay in.

The check in staff were amazing so I feel bad writing this review. The hotel is old and poorly ventilated. There is a musty smell that hits you once you get out of the lift. It’s humid and the AC only adds to that feeling. Big bathroom with a weird little door that opens to pipes. The area is central but swamped with homeless people. WiFi cuts out a lot.
Again, checkin staff were brilliant but the hotel itself needs major work. The bad musty smell is a everywhere and a real killer.

This hotel was a good value for the cost. Clean and functional, i could not expect much more of a place for a low cost hotel in an area accessible to so many areas. The metro is very close, many restaurants in the area.

I had an emergency visit to the U.S. Consulate to replace my son's passport. The room was booked from the U.S. but my debit card wasn't working in Brasil. The management was very accommodating in accepting an over-the-phone payment from the U.S. using a different unrestricted card. There's free wifi (which is kind of spotty) and a free breakfast which is available until early afternoon. The staff is very patient and responsive. The property manager was very accommodating and provided me great tips on how to get to the airport using public transit. The rooms are quite basic but clean. It is a no frills hotel. The hotel isn't located in an area where you'd necessarily want to take an evening stroll. Besides being close to the U.S. Consulate, it's also very close to the Metro. If you're looking for a clean and affordable place to stay for a night ($40USD per night) to take care of matters at the Consulate, this hotel is ideal as it's also near the train and not too far from Lapa if you're in the mood of venturing out to grab a drink/experience the night life.

I have stayed here many times. It is economic in price. It is not a hooker type hotel. It is clean and reasonably well run. There are some foreign tourists and small Brazilian families but mostly for middle management Brazilains. I like the area as it is in walking distance to my office. I stay there for economy reasons and the wifi is better than some of the more economic hotels. There is nothing to offer her than a bed in an airconditioned room, reasonably clean room, with hot water for a shower and a basic breakfast bar but I will stay there again many times more.

The staff and location really made this a great stay. The breakfast in the morning was equal to that of any hotel. Fruit, cheese, ham, fresh buns, coffee, juice etc.
