What to say about Hatzanda except excellent. We stayed for 7 nights and then booked another 3, as a testament to how much we enjoyed it. Mai and her team run a lovely hotel, backed by a fantastic customer service. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, responding to any minor issues immediately. The hotel itself is excellent. As a family of 4 we had D106, and the bunk bed was perfect for our girls. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The patio is perfect for relaxing, and the pool is lovely, clean and great for the kids. The location on Khlong Khong beach is ideal; not directly on the beach perhaps, but in my opinion this didn’t detract from the hotel at all.
Koh Lanta in general is so laid back and slow-paced, and Hatzanda is no different. The hotel’s location is like Goldilocks’ porridge: not too close to Sala Dan, and not too far to feel removed. In fact it’s proximity to a 7-11 is great, and it’s a short walk to the bars and restaurants either on the beach or the main road.
The Hatzanda staff helped arrange scooter rentals and arrange island tours to Ko Haa/Ko Rok helpfully and easily. Oh, and the little restaurant is great for breakfasts; get the pancakes or Vietnamese eggs!
All in all we will always recommend Hatzanda. Our stay was faultless and can’t wait to return in the future, and Mai and the team are excellent at what they do.

Rock bottom: Da beach close by is actually like rocks and Stones.
Reinemachefrau: Cleaning up the rooms was still to be invented.
Pool. YES! It is!
A bit off actually, a bit mouldy smell in the bathroom. Though found a nice Newcastleish place cross the road with fine decent breakfast.

I stayed here for a week in a wooden hut and then another week in one of the rooms with a fan. The location was convenient and the place was fine. But nothing special. They didn't top up the complimentary water or replace all of the towels when cleaning the room - it was more like tidying than cleaning. In this room (one of the newer builds), the shower water stank when you first turned it on. You had to let the water run for a few minutes for it not to smell.
IMPORTANTLY: Getting to know the area a bit more I found you can get the same standard for less money or a better room for the same price. The owners of other hotels were forthcoming in offering deals for staying 4+ nights (a friend stayed in one place closer to the beach for 10 nights and got 2 nights for free). The rooms here were usually pretty busy with people only staying a couple of nights. I don't think they cared so much about keeping your custom because most of the rooms will get booked anyway. This makes a difference to me. Places with a personal touch are worth so much more than ones that are just happy to take as much money as they can from tourists. The owners here were nice enough and the place was fine - I don't have a lot of bad to say about it - it just wasn't special and there are better deals nearby.
SUGGESTION: If you are passing through this is a good place to stay. If you are staying 5+ nights, stay here for 2 then ask around (closer to the beach) and you might find a better deal paying cash.

Hey, it was a bamboo bungalow with a simple toilet/cold shower unit built onto the rear. Ceiling fan, mosquito net. But it was exactly what I wanted, and it was comfortable! Plenty of food options nearby, and of course that wonderful ocean. Staff very helpful in making arrangements for transportation, tours, etc. Would happily stay here again . . . well, maybe not in April or August, but January is perfect. :-)

Bamboo bungalows way too small for the price...
The same kind of bungalows were available at half the price in many other close-by guesthouses.
