Overall the experience was great. Just a few minor adjustment would have earned five stars from me.
The little freezer in the kitchen needs severe defrosting. It literally looked like items trapped in a tiny glacier.
The Keurig coffee maker probably needs to be descaled. It doesn’t dispense the appropriate water no matter which setting is selected. Had to run it at least twice for the same pod.
The Xifinity remote is missing a few buttons. While most things could probably be selected using the voice command option, navigating using the arrow buttons is impossible. A simple call to the cable company should easily fix this, even if they charge for a new one.
The floor in Room 1 was a little dirty, but only noticed when walking barefoot. And there was still some trash from a previous guest in the bathroom bin. The hot water for the shower was limiting.
The place overall was full of charm with its tchotchkes and eclectic artwork throughout. It felt like staying in the house of a favorite relative.

We were a party of three seniors celebrating two birthdays for the weekend. I found The Rugosa Guest House on line and we were all pleasantly surprised. At first sight it’s a little eccentric but in a whimsical way. Joey greeted us upon our arrival and couldn’t have been more helpful. We booked a 2 bedroom, 1 & 1/2 bath suite (but could have done without the jacuzzi next to the king size bed :>)). Our rooms were very clean and provided ample fresh linens. Our suite was very comfortable….including the beds! We also had a small balcony which overlooked the pool area.

Fun, eclectic vibe with lots of interesting art. Access to a shared kitchen was convenient for a quick meal and to heat up leftovers. First experience with contactless arrival and it all worked fine.

Water spots in ceiling, filthy shower curtain, never saw/met host in the 5 days I was there. TV cable didn’t work the whole time—called owner a couple time, but not resolved. Master bed too high—had to jump into it. Coffee not available.

The surrounding grounds are peaceful and beautiful. But the our room had cobwebs and hadn't been properly cleaned. Needs updating and cleansing.

Wonderful location on the Cape with access to PTown, beaches, & parks. The guest house has multiple rooms and shared living spaces. Everything is decorated tastefully; we enjoyed our stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Rugosa Guest House and would probably stay there again! I truly felt like a guest in a house instead of staying at a b&b or hotel. My room was nice and cool and the perfect size for just me. The entire home is decorated in such a beautiful and vibrant way there is something interesting to look at the whole short walk from your car to your room. The only thing I would suggest is finding a way to make the doors a little more quiet when they shut. I think I only ran into two other people enjoying their stay while I was there, and the only time I could hear anyone was when they were shutting their doors for the night. I couldn’t even hear them come in or when walking through the hallway so I know they were being quiet, I just think the doors to our rooms are normal doors and not really designed to shut particularly quietly.
I really thought Rugosa was a special place to stay while on vacation though! Very enjoyable overall!

Beware of this property. Generally the location would have been a quiet and a bare-bones but comfortable stay, BUT the bathroom in our room was flooded and completely unusable. As I was in the bathroom I heard the shower in the unit above turn on and then saw water start pouring out of the ceiling. It was obvious that this was an ongoing issue because the ceiling had been patched several times. This continued until the bathroom was flooded and the ceiling was saturated all the way out into the room and above the bed. I immediately called the hotel who acted surprised (even though it was an obvious ongoing issue) and they assured me they would take care of it right away. They didn’t. I never heard from them again, they declined my follow up call, and the bathroom remained flooded for the remainder of my stay. Every time the unit above would shower, I would have water pouring out of the ceiling into my bathroom. For the entire weekend I had to walk through standing water just to use the bathroom in a hotel that refused to fix anything and was definitely not inexpensive on a holiday weekend. I don’t expect that every room has a similar issue, but I think this issue speaks to the character of the hotel management. If they ignored this glaring issue, what else are they hiding?

The rugosa house was a nice place to stay for the week. It was convenient to have a full kitchen available to use. Having coffee available 24/7 was great! The room was fairly comfortable and everything worked, although the bathroom was quite dated. It was very close to Nauset Light Beach, the bike path, and lots of restaurants and shops. The owner is a nice young man. It’s a funky place with tons of original art on display. Oh, and it’s dog friendly! If you’re looking for a cookie cutter hotel, this is not it! Great place to stay for a week on the Cape!

Limited transport around so you need a car. But the area is splendid, plenty to do Ptown is a bus ride away, and the guest house is of a rare beauty, the art makes it feel like home for a few days

Following instructions during the booking to contact the guesthouse if check in was needed after hours I tried sending messages through the website and calling three different phone numbers for a couple days until I got some response. The keys and instructions would be left in an envelope on the front desk. All fine, but the instructions were wrong. The instructions said the door electronic keylock was not working and that we should use the physical key, which was in in the envelope. Although the key pad WAS working, but no passcode was shared. I was lucky that after three attempts someone answered the phone. I understand what they are trying to do with the place, however to keep it clean with all the antiques and decor objects that are in there is really challenging. Stained towels, spider webs, dusty surfaces were very common. The only power outlet in the bathroom was not working. The room had a very noisy AC (the window unit type), and an also noisy ceiling fan. All that dust and stained towels made me think several times before utilizing anything from the kitchen. The place has potential, but they need to get a grip on cleaningless (perhaps get rid of the clutter) and catch up on maintenance.

We stayed the last week of February 2024, and had room 7 and absolutely loved it. The room wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but after a text exchange with the owner it was quickly taken care of. We would definitely stay here again!

We liked the set up with the sitting areas and it was nice.
It was a little cooler in the room as the air conditioner was not taken out. It was hard to keep it at the temperature that we wanted.

This was one of THE COOLEST places I have ever stayed. I can’t wait to come back. I just loved everything about it. The entire place is covered in art. The bar area was my absolute favorite. My girlfriend and I hung out on the couch playing board games while admiring the never-ending art in the room. 10/10 would stay again.
