A covered outdoor decking/entertaining area offers a table setting for 2 people and full-sized outdoor bathtub, beyond which is a fire pit area. The house is best suited to guests who drive.
The Space:
This compact gem of a studio house is accessed via a private drive on a 10 acre property with an abundance of native vegetation. Before entering the home, you’ll discover an alfresco low table with 2 chairs, as well as a fire pit area with log stools. You’ll then step up to a covered front patio with timber boards, a table setting for 2 people, a stylish floating outdoor bathtub and a tinkling water feature. Inside, you'll find polished floorboards and rugs, wall-mounted reverse cycle aircon and a ceiling fan for year-round comfort. The kitchen space comes equipped with a 2-burner induction cooktop, microwave oven, dishwasher drawer, Hisense mini fridge, a coffee maker and all the usual amenities. There’s a table for 2 which can be folded down to the wall for more space if desired and a couple of comfy armchairs too. A 43” smart TV with Netflix is wall mounted to be watched from a queen-sized bed. The bathroom comes with a sustainable WC and a shower recess with a glass screen. The house is off grid with its own solar panels and battery system and adequate rainwater storage. For drinking purposes there's a state-of-the-art 3 stage filtration system including UV filtering.
The Neighborhood:
Only 45 minutes south of Adelaide in South Australia, McLaren Vale is home to sustainable winegrowing, offering world-class wines and wonderful culinary experiences, from casual to high end. The house itself is set amongst established native trees on the 10 acre property, with privacy being a focus. You're likely to see kangaroos bounding about! The close proximity to the McLaren Vale township allows walking or riding to the Information and Wine Centre, as well as some local wineries, while the main supermarket and retail shops just a short drive away. You'll also enjoy some of the region's most famous and recognised wineries within a 5 km radius, including the d’Arenberge Cube, Maxwell, and Mollydooker, to name just a few. Onkaparinga River National Park is 10 minutes by car for the spectacular Onkaparinga Gorge and diverse hiking trails teaming with native birds, koalas, kangaroos and even the odd echidna. Feel like an ocean dip? The stunning mid coast of the Fleurieu peninsula, with its world class beaches such as Moana, is only a 15min drive away, or there's a 7km bike path offering a beautiful traffic-free ride through the vineyards and farm paddocks to the beach. Another bike option is to take the Shiraz Trail starting at the nearby Information Centre and ride the picturesque trail to the lovely town of Willunga 10km away.
