About this farm stay rental
Zen Box Farm
Welcome to Zen Box Farm
Step into a world where history, sustainability, and curiosity come together in a truly unique retreat. Nestled above a peaceful meadow with views of shimmering Lake Bomoseen and the mountains, Zen Box Farm offers a one-of-a-kind experience that blends rustic charm, modern comfort, and a deep connection to the past.
This property is more than just a getaway—it's an ongoing experiment in sustainable living. The experiment begins with alternate forms of housing, Additional Dwelling units (ADUs), solar energy to grey water recapture systems, incinerator toilets, and other environmentally friendly practices. Zen Box Farm showcases innovative solutions that challenge the status quo and invite thought into how things could be done.
The farm isn't just about the future; it's steeped in history, too. During the Revolutionary War, this land played a role in the Battle of Hubbardton, the only battle fought solely in Vermont. Even today, a Revolutionary War Road runs through the property up to the ridgeline, a quiet reminder of the brave men and women who once traversed this land in pursuit of freedom.
The property features:
Three cozy cabins and the main house (a container home) are designed for simplicity and comfort.
The bunkhouse features a large TV, a drop-down wall desk, and a printer that can be used as a remote office.
With the addition of a mesh network to support reliable Starlink internet, there's now ample bandwidth for video calls, making it well-suited for remote work.
A shared bathhouse and outdoor summer shower provide rustic luxury with a touch of adventure.
An Additional Kitchen with a walk-up or sit-down food bar for feeding the crew or having drinks.
A firepit for relaxing evenings under the stars.
A working farm with friendly animals adds a charming and educational element to your stay.
Zen Box Farm is a living experiment in sustainable practices and green technologies, allowing guests to see what works and what doesn't and how we can all contribute to a healthier planet. At the same time, it's a place where echoes of history are never far away, inviting you to reflect on the resilience and innovation of past generations and how to envision a future.
Whether you're here to unwind, learn, or connect, Zen Box Farm is an unforgettable experience for those with a spirit of adventure and a love for the extraordinary. Explore the past, embrace the present, and dream of a better future. Oh! I forgot to mention we are pet-friendly.
We invite you to join us in our mission to explore new ways of living lightly on the land. Come with an open mind and a spirit of discovery—you just might leave inspired.
Don't hesitate to contact us directly if you have questions about having a small event at Zen Box Farm.
