We were lucky enough to spend 5 x nights at La Grotta in May 2023 and it was a special trip for our family. From the very first moment we booked online, Natalia was so kind in giving us advice (to our many questions) prior to our arrival :) She helped us organise a surprise birthday lunch for my husband, including booking the restaurant and getting a cake with his name on it for us! It all went perfectly, Natalia is an absolute asset to La Grotta. The on-site restaurant is lovely too, with a delicious menu and breakfast every morning was wonderful, with lots of options for everybody. There were 5 of us travelling together, we had rooms next to each other on the top level, with adjoining balconies and a view to die for - We had so much fun and we can't wait to go back one day!

This hotel has a great location in this small village right opposite the beach and cafes. It's facilities are perfectly adequate although the entrance through a very touristy and slightly tired looking restaurant isnt too appealing. But our room was good with a nice sized balcony overlooking the sea. Good value for money and great breakfast!
And you get a free trip to Shipwreck Bay which was excellent!
Entrance wasn't appealing and we ran out of hot water in the mornings. But staff were apologetic and we swam in the nearby sea instead so not a big issue.

Good location with pleasant outlook from a nice balcony. Rooms modernised.
Bathroom should be modernised next.

we loved the beach front location and the area around the property, the friendly staff and the great food (especially the fresh fish and seafood )
There were 2 days of power outages but this wasn't the fault of anyone at the property, it was just annoying the the AC suddenly stopped and the room went very hot in about 30min

Fabulous location on the port with stunning sea views. the staff were so courteous and friendly, especially the young lady on reception
the shower head needed replacing but that was my only small critique.

The staff was so kind, helpful and really friendly. This is a perfect location for discovering the northern part of Zakynthos (by moped) and the included boat tour to the shipwreck beach and the blue caves was wonderful. We were given time to enjoy those places and swim in the ocean!
I really recommend this for anyone who wants to live in a genuine hotel with amazing personnel!

Spacious bedroom, comfy bed, quality complimentary toiletries, good breakfast and friendly staff. Great balcony with sunbeds and sea view.
The bathroom was dated and the drains a bit wiffy

Located in the heart of Nicolaos Beach with a beautiful view of the beach and harbour. Fast check in and check out. Decent breakfast included. My room in La Grotta was the priciest of my trip around Zakynthos but the location and view were excellent and a boat tour to Navagio Shipwreck Beach and the Blue Caves was included in my one night stay, so good value for money. The room and linens were nice and clean and staff was friendly. Free parking on a small parking lot two buildings down from the hotel. Would stay here again.
I usually like a water cooker in the room and I don't think La Grotta offers one, but as I only stayed the one night, I didn't mind.

The hotel is situated in a small town with a port (to the Navagio beach or to Kefalonia). Friendly staff in hotel and restaurant, nice premises. Good breakfast and everything is close (market, gift-shop, other restaurants)
Traveling to location is complicated, recommend renting a car (no bus stop, taxi from airport 55E, car from 25E/day). It is location only for few days, not whole vacation. One attraction - Navagio beach + Blue Caves, one small beach, no water attractions.

Very good price x benefit deal. The breakfast was nice and fair, boat ride to the Blue Caves and the Shipwreck was great, excellent location and friendly staff. Clean and simple rooms, but perfectly fine.
Internet connection in the rooms was really weak.

Location and staff, special thanks to Nikki and Lilly who welcomed us everyday with a smile and a joke. The great breakfast team completed a perfect start for Every day

The view, location and breakfast
The bathroom smelled a little bit and the shower was super tiny

Lovely hotel, amazing staff, perfect location for the north of the island. Many places to eat nearby

Really Amazing place, right by the port so easy to get to, all trips are within meters of the hotel and there are some nice bars and restaurants nearby! (Some of which you get a discount in). The staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and nice. We also got a boat trip to Navagio and the blue caves free of charge, as well as breakfast included with the stay. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough, I highly recommend it if you are staying in this area👍

The free boat trip was very nice and the staff at the reception, the cleaning lady and the waiters in the restaurant were exceptional friendly. In the end it was them who still made our stay at this hotel memorable and pleasant.
We read the reviews of the hotel and were looking forward to the nice view from the balcony. Even we booked the room with this description we got a room at the back of the hotel just above the kitchen. It was noisy, smelly and the view was far from great. Food is pretty expensive as well in the restaurant and not what we are used to in Greece. Also the supermarket close by is expensive. Obviously the hotel, the next restaurant and the markets all belong to the same family and they really make a good business with their guests. If you don't have a car to go shopping somewhere else you can expect to spend quite a lot of money.

La Grotta offers a boattrip included; highly recommended. Although the excursion is very popular and we were glad we were not in the high season, it is really worth making this (3 hours-)trip to the blue cave, the shipwreck at the beautifull beach and for the swimmingstop.
Nice, helpful staff. We were on bicycles; they offered (and helped) to put them inside in the evening.
Very clean. Airconditioning; for us in June not neccesary, but probably nice in the summer.
Our room on the 3th floor had a large see-side balcony, with sunbeds en chairs. But it was a pity that when you was sitting there the see-view was gone. You had to stand up to get the nice view.
4.3
The hotel has very good location. The room and terrace was very spacious. The view is perfect. WiFi was good.
Breakfast was careless and tasteless. Coffee was terrible. Shower cabin was too small.
4.3
Great location, in the middle of the tiny harbour-town Agios Nikolaos. Convenient if you catch the ferry from here to Kefalonia. The hotel itself is neat enough. We got a room with a view on the harbour with a huge balcony.. with sunbeds. The bed was comfortable. The host was not in any hurry to get paid right away. They provide a free boatride to shipwreck & blue caves .. even if you stay one night.
The bathroom felt a little outdated. Water leaked even if you firmly closed the tap. No way to shower without holding the showerhead. Refrigerator on the small side. The restaurant underneath serves nice food but makes you pay for bread that you didn't order. They made us think it was free.
The free boatride feels like it was included in the booking price.. but with a good reduction on the normal price.

The view from our room was beautiful overlooking the bay. It had limited breakfast choices but they were great nonetheless.
One of the most positive points of this hotel is that the boat trip to navagio beach and the blue caves is included so be sure not to miss it.
The bathroom was is need of an update. It’s located in an area of the island that still seems a bit underdeveloped for tourists so it takes at least an hour to get to most areas of interest.
