The ambiance
The toilet did not flush properly and the shower + onsen areas need to be updated + cleaned properly.

Dinner was amazing. Great location to do a round trip of Hakone. Private Onsen and rooms were great.

Location is great with fabulous mountain view. my hotel room has a big window where you can see outside with great views, the same is for private bath which was great. We had dinner at hotel, we had five course traditional Japanese food, and it was delicious! The staff are very friendly, they notified me that I left my cloth at hotel and shipped them to my hotel in Kyoto! I cannot thank them enough for doing that!

Manatei was the perfect stop to reset and unwind after a few busy days in Tokyo. It felt private and secluded, while still being very easy to get to on public transport, and the facilities were excellent. We loved having access to the private baths and the shuttle service to the station was so useful.

This was the most beautiful hotel with lots of space and incredible rooms. We were very late arriving but the staff was so kind to accommodate our schedule. Truly a magical place and I only wish we had been able to stay longer.
A little far from convenience stores, but sometimes that's what you're looking for.

The property is old style, you feel like in an ancient Japanese house
If you don’t like Japanese or old things will not recommend you this because you can see and feel the old of the wood inside the room as also much on hakone and specially semi open onsen there may be some insects that come from the mountain something inevitable but that is the beauty of the hotel

3 Family occupation baths are available unless you reserve a room with a bath. Clean room and friendly staffs.
Sound of river in front of the hotel was so big during all night, even if we closed windows.
A shower in room required more than 5 min before becoming hot.
Air conditioner is too strong and could not be adjusted to keep modest temperatures.

The hot baths were great.
The beds were really comfortable and the sound of the stream below was beautiful.
Breakfast was a little underwhelming but ok.

A good hotel to experience a traditional Onsen. Excellent food. Great shiatsu Massage.
The facilities are very clean but need a bit of updating.
Traditional breakfast is great, but continental choice would be great for some people.
