The room and facilities were very clean. The bath was very nice, there was also option to rent a private bath. Hot pot dinner was good.
The rooms have no private bathrooms. There was only 30 minutes time to eat the breakfast, 8:00 - 8:30. Check-out time was also very early, at 10:00. Not suitable for people who like to sleep longer.
The location is a bit far from the center of Kyoto.

Serene and peaceful it was a beutiful chance to get away from the city to enjoy nature and relax/unwind. Staff was amazing and went above and beyond our expectations. The food was simply amazing and was delicious. Dor dinner it is a Shabu Shabu style of dining and my family and friends loved it. All the ingredients were freshly prepared and delicious. Breakfast was a traditional style Japanese fare and again very *FRESH*... Love the Koi pond and garden right outside the dining room.
Our stay was too short and had to say goodbye to the amazing staff... Cannot wait to go back *AGAIN*... in short, NOTHING to dislike!

Staying at this ryokan was one of the highlights of our whole trip in Japan! Tucked away in the countryside just outside of Kyoto, it's the perfect respite from the hoards of tourists in the city. The ryokan itself was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, and were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (one of us was vegetarian, and another was gluten-free). The onsen is beautiful, with a great view of the trees. We all had a wonderful time here.
They provide a shuttle to/from the bus station, but only after check-in and before check-out. This is inconvenient if you want to have time to walk around and explore Ohara (there are beautiful temples very nearby). Also, the cafe with the onsen footbath is only open on weekends.

Baths were very nice, and room was comfortable. Nearby area was quiet and calm. Very cute and friendly dog outside.
Friends complained about sleeping on futon.

The place is located in a dreamy area an hour from Kyoto station and with easy access by public transport. It is beautiful and simple, it has a very pretty garden that you can see from the window when dining in the restaurant, Japanese style and tatami floor in the room, also the bed is typical Japanese that we made ourselves. The onsen was a nice experience too (foreign-tattoo friendly), good opening hours so you can enjoy before or after dinner. We also booked the private one so we could enjoy together, as the onsens are typically segregated by gender.
Dinner was amazing, a hot pot with veggies, meat, tofu and udon noodles that you cook yourself (very typical in Japan). We enjoyed it very much.
Breakfast is only from 8-8.30 o'clock. Unfortunately we missed it as we had to catch a train early in the morning. Maybe it could start a little earlier, that way we could have taken advantage of that. Anyways, we did not ask if this was possible (maybe it was).

Food was fantastic. Would definitely recommend !
Wi-fi would disconnect from room to eating area. So, we used our own wireless the second day. Cost was very expensive for foreigners but worth it. I hope they can give a discount for return guests.

great onsen, food service and absolutely beautiful setting

We love the traditional, rustic atmosphere and Japanese meals at the onsen. On the night we stayed, about 80% of the guests were Japanese. The temperature at their onsen is not as high as what we had at another place, in a good way, we liked it being on the cooler side.

Great atmosphere and very traditional. The food and baths were splendid. Being in a more remote and quiet area was relaxing.
The food was self cooked and the breakfast portion was a little small. Also, the shuttle to the bus terminal stopped service at 10am. This didn't allow much time to explore the nearby area.

Really enjoyed the Onsen, also the meals. The room is very clean and spacious. The hotel also provides free shuttle to the bus station from 8am to 10am. The bus goes to Kyoto central, and the train station. Had a great stay.

Very helpful staff, English speaking staff is available. Quiet and peaceful. Clean and fresh air. Nice food. Value for money. Outdoor onsen offers natural scene.
Nothing much about this. All seems very good. Perhaps the cleanliness of toilet in the room can be improved a little bit. Don't get me wrong, it was clean and wasn't filthy, just that it has some smell.

the overall accommodation experience was good and we are satisfied. In line with the meal we were serve a typical japanese meal where you can only experience in ryokan. The place and food is good.

Staff are great. It’s a genuine Japanese experience not the western soft furnishings that we are used to .

Beautifully situated in the mountains, Nice Onsen and good Japanese food.
Beverages were not included in meal, coffee for breakfast was extra despite our stay was with half board.
I paid in advance but when we checked out, we had to pay, Onsen tax, accommodation tax and service tax. Would be a better service if these were included in the stated price.

The staff did their job, but were not terribly friendly
Early check out time and very strict about dinner and breakfast timings.
