The Staff and Managment went our of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The included breakfast was amazing and muffins to your room are a nice touch. I liked it so much I stayed another night!

The property is beautiful, the rooms spacious, and the team that run the property were the kindest most helpful people. They were extremely accommodating and helped us in a pinch (when we were running late to a wedding).
Nothing to note.

everything was great

The breakfast was very good. My wife and I travel a great deal staying in fine hotels. Hastings House put a smile on my face. The room was very well laid out and everything worked so well.
I liked everything. The dining room is lovely with a great ambiance. The staff were very high quality, courteous and willing to please.

A gorgeous hotel - didn’t eat dinner there but had breakfasts. This and service were great on the first day but by day 3 had wained. We were made to feel like we were annoying - asking for cutlery, butter and jam and coffee refills - the basics of breakfast. It's quite pricey so we were a little sad this was how our stay ended. However the location, rooms and morning muffins are a delight and you can easily leave your city life behind as you swim in coves and adjust to the pace of island life. This is a magical hotel and we only mention the breakfast as Its easily rectifiable.

The breakfast was fine. The accommodation was adequate but a bit disappointing considering the high prices.

Weather very hot and building old and room in loft, but no portable AC unit provided, no ceiling fan installed despite perfectly located ceiling power point and switch and all windows but one stuck closed. Impossibly uncomfortable. Floor fans provided but way too noisy! Four night booked but left after one. After the 2021 heat dome there is no excuse for not carrying out a critical and inexpensive upgrade, especially at the room rate.

Location. Views. Old world charm and
the overall feel of the place.
Farmhouse East accommodation was
quaint and comfortable.
Restaurant - dinner was overpriced and overrated. Although the ingredients were fresh, they weren’t prepared in a way to highlight them, and as such were bland and boring. And don’t get me started on the awful Crème Brûlée. I could see the minute I took my first mouthful, it was grainy and dense instead of being silky, delicate and luscious. Alcohol had also been added to the mixture and I have to ask why, but if you’re going to do it, subtle is the way to go. Needless to say, I didn’t take a second mouthful and, although I let the waiter know, I was not offered an alternative dessert and was charged for it! I was gobsmacked!
Complimentary breakfast was miserly under the circumstances. It was valued at $40 per head. We had a granola and berry parfait one morning. It was served up in a very small parfait glass with a croissant. Had a small portion of scrambled eggs and a few potatoes on another morning. We also had the option of EITHER a juice, coffee or tea. Certainly not $40 worth!
A couple were allowed to bring their dog into the restaurant whilst they were having breakfast on more than one occasion, and the waitress who was serving us was patting the dog. I am a dog owner and love dogs, but I would never bring my dog into a restaurant, let alone be allowed to do so. It is completely unacceptable to allow dogs around food and other patrons and it’s certainly problematic to be serving food after having patted a dog.
No safe in the room.
More upkeep and maintenance required both within the room (power outlets not working, etc.) and on cottage exteriors (rotting wood, dirt, faded paint.)
Although the gardens around the property are beautiful and well made aintained, if you wander a little further afield it's quite unkempt and messy.
The icing on the cake was to be presented with a bill for the dinner we had had a couple of nights earlier even though I had paid for the meal in cash on the night.

natural beauty. walkability. views
Walking up and down the stairs was a bit hard on our old arthritic knees.

great hotel in lovely location but a bit old fashioned and dated and a bit pricey overall

The property is beautiful, as expected. The suite was cozy and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious and the dining room is so lovely and charming. Staff were lovely.
The hand soaps provided make a mucky, goopy, yucky mess when wet. How about some nice triple-milled English soaps? Those local, handmade soaps are terrible. No flowers in flower box on deck railing. Would have been nice to have flowers. Big ants in bathroom, always a couple around the sink. Shaving mirror hung too high for me to use for makeup application (I'm 5' tall).

Beautiful property, food was excellent. The Churchill cottage we stayed at was excellent, the only thing was I was told there weren’t any stairs to the bedrooms , which there was 4 big stairs and my mum has mobility issues. But she managed with my help .
The housecoats weren’t soft and comfy.

Serenity, gourmet restaurant, excellent location, open plan in loft with high ceiling and lots of skylights
A little overpriced, some details overlooked ( bedside lamp not working, broken blind over bed, sour milk in fridge, some pathway lights not working near dining room)
4.5
Breakfast was excellent, we had it in our room one morning and in the dining room the second morning....
We requested a fifth bed for the Churchill cottage and Hastings was very accommodating! We were a group of five women and not crazy about sharing beds....The warm muffins brought to the cabin each morning were an unexpected and excellent treat and the chilled sparkling wine on our arrival was delightful!
Communication was a bit bumpy....should have spoken directly with the manager, Allan, who was excellent and resolved all of our issues before our arrival.

Quiet, comfortable and on the water. Great getaway.
Had long wait when we arrived at 415 to get room but GM bought us a round of drinks at dinner, nice touch.
