Shocking, won’t be returning, be carful not to be overcharged!
Location
Dirty, no electric, no air con, customer service was shocking. The receptionist on arrival didn’t even get up, she charged me more than what booking.com said, (yes I included taxes with this reference. Didn’t feel safe due to all the homeless sleeping across behind the 7/11 and seeing them taking drugs when we walked across to the store. Very noisey, the light that keeps the court yard lot shines straight into our window, even with blackout curtains this was an issue. Bed was uncomfy, we didn’t have enough towels for us all. We didn’t take the dogs in the end, but it says no dogs so don’t know what that’s about when it said they allowed it and I emailed before going. I’m a travel agent and I’m well travelled, even for a budget hotel this is shocking.

Overnight stay
Close to ferry terminal. Garden looked nice but not accessible.
The location is sketchy. On busy road and no fencing for privacy and security. Couldn't open window in bathroom due to someone smoking right outside! That's the only venting for bathroom! The room was very dated but the new flooring and furniture makes a nice improvement. Unfortunately the second room had no a/c and floor fan was not working and very hot at night. Fridge was leaking had to use towels to mop.

Perfect for my needs - a comfortable, safe place to sleep : close to my business location.
Fridge + microwave + coffee machine was perfect for my needs. I had an air-conditioner & a fan which was perfect : cooled the room down ... then just the fan at night for sleeping. Liked having the Korean restaurant on site - after a long day at a workshop it was nice to not have to find food ! Balcony off the room with table & chairs just perfect for morning coffee & breakfast (my own) overlooking the palm trees in the garden square, and relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day. I liked the floors being wood : never been crazy about carpeted hotels ! Despite being on the corner of a major intersection - not at all noisy. However - this offered instant access to the rest of Nanaimo - only 7 mins from the Ferry terminal. Very quiet - no disturbances even though it was a weekend. Free parking conveniently near the room .
The TV was big - but very complicated to access - so after a while I didn't bother. However when I asked for assistance a maintenance person came up right away and adjusted the settings.
