Beautiful historical hotel! The staff is exceptional, especially the concierge staff.

Es muy pequeño
Están muy muy pequeños los cuartos

Cleanliness, staff, classy environment
We were pleased with everything. Renovations are going on but no noise. Windows in rooms are the only thing that need to be updated by being stripped, painted, and be able to open easily.

The stay would have ended on a high note if we were forced to pay the $60 mandatory valet fee. Would have been fine except for the fact that my vehical fender was completely scuffed and you can’t see details in their drop off/pick up area because of how dark it is.

Sound isolation poor the street noise very bad

Beautiful hotel! The staff was so professional and accommodating! The concierge gave us wonderful dining suggestions and help getting around. We really loved our experience and would stay there again!
The neighborhood has a bit of homeless. the location is close to so much including the gas lamp area but the homeless is frustrating.

Beautiful, historic, fabulous staff. The Grant Grill bar and restaurant- both amazing!
Construction noise on road outside our room all night.

Nice historic venue
1. Room was literally across from the elevator in the foyer - noisy and a poor location especially for the room rate
2. Over priced hotel
3. Workout facilities not on par with alleged quality of hotel
4. They failed to work with me for extended check out - I was on property only 16 hours
5. Valet service poor
6. Coffee machine on room did not work correctly

Beds are comfortable, central location, nice lobby and common areas.
Rooms are dirty and lack the cleanliness that should come with a luxury hotel. Many large stains on the walls, doors and headboards. Pretty sure a robe had been used and rehung as it was stained.City view was a view of trash, portapottys and homeless people - there was night time construction right outside the window during our stay.
4.1
The lobby is nice, staff is professional and friendly, but not efficient.
The rooms were dirty. Dirty walls, dirty headboards - mystery stains on decorative pillows. Friendly but not helpful staff. Pass and stay somewhere else, the lobby is nice and the rooms are well appointed but they are unkempt. On a positive side, the beds are VERY comfy (but the linens were worn and had holes).

the GrantGrill made us feel special with the great service! our water glass never emptied , while we waited for our order we were given tasty samples, bread! most of the staff is friendly and nice, valets, housekeeping , we brought our two foster kittens costing 2 nites($133) per final bill
reception professional but cold. after driving hours arriving to such cold unfriendly Jennifer was disappointing especially for a senior employee who should treat every guest special. I observed another group being helped by her and they were clearly not happy either. the check in is way across lobby opposite of valet which is terrible coming in from a long drive also no one told me where it was so had to wander around til I saw it. the room was never at 72 which is what it’s set at. I live in the SFValley over 100 degree and I’m cold at 76 degrees I KNOW that room was not 72. the pillow were too soft as was the bed! our back hurts today. and the comforter was super hot with a room not cooling. get a “deluxe “ room so you’re at the 4th level or above for “better” view-meaning your room does t overlook the homeless scattered sadly outside. no pool no amenities ! from the tv in the room when you search “swimming” they list beaches hahah miles away! why don’t they partner up with another luxury hotel and offer passes to borrow the pool like other places? terrible terrible terrible expensive . if your teen decides they’re hungry after 11p there is NO room service NO 24hrstore NO self serve NOsnack vending machine etc I was referred to 7/11 ( at almost midnight to walk by scary ppl!) by snarky Jen . this is not a luxury hotel at all.oh, and only valet for 57$ (no limit on in/out but you have to tip ea time they bring car)no self park but “ you’re welcome to park anywhere on the street” I was told. Just so it’s clear : there’s no where to park outside. this is downtown . hotel rather rent all the parking for a monthly fee than prioritize guest parking. (I accidentally drove into parking area and saw all the monthly paid parking)maybe that’s how they are surviving the pandemic.

Beautifully maintained and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
the elevators are very slow coming to you.
4.1
The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very nice indeed. Hotel staff go out of their way to know who you are and support your needs at the hotel, not matter how small or large.
The Hotel has little control over this but the downtown area in SD is not as nice as it used to be. I'll leave it at that, but I spent a fair amount of money to stay at a hotel I remembered as extremely nice and comfortable only to be met with a local area that did not make a good impression on us upon arrival.
4.1
Beautiful bedroom although drawers not big enough for clothes. great location
For a 5 star hotel there was no facilities apart from a gym - no pool, no outside space. The bar which was not at all inviting was only open from 5-10pm. No atmosphere as there was no one around !
4.1
classic and friendly staff
no gluten free options offered
