Well located, clean, very nice, well decorated. It feels like we were in Normandie in France.
Too cold. I got sick.

Loved the location

Everything. From Henry the amazing bartender to the music in the fine dining room, everything was great. Plus the chefs are excellent.
When we arrived, the bellboys ignored me while they chatted. No one got the door for me even though I was carrying a lot of stuff.

Location. History. Starbucks. Hotel shuttle. Breakfast.
Pool and pool area needs cleaning

I loved the room, it was clean and for the most part quiet. I also loved the pool, it was relaxing and the environment was peaceful, loved the hot tub. Lastly, I really liked breakfast, for the many different options and self serving, I didn't have to wait as long as I would at a normal diner.
I didn't have a lot of dislikes, for the exception of parking. Could have been closer. Maybe a more pronounced exit, we struggled to find it. Other than that it was and a wonderful/peaceful stay, would stay here again!

位置好,与城中心仅隔一条过街天桥。
浴室水流太小。

Great historic ambiance. Comfy beds. Convenient location to old town. Friendly, accommodating staff.
Paid parking ( we parked on the street). Breakfast was too pricey. We booked without breakfast but lucked out: we received a complimentary breakfast because we had a water leak from the AC in our room.

We ate at the restaurant and had room service and all was wonderful
Having to leave

Historical content
Elevators too narrow, too small.

Beautiful. Clean. Staff was top notch.
Door to hotel room was very light and lots of light shine through.

Super cool and close to everything. We loved the history behind the walls!!!

Pine Room and breakfast

Great but costly food and drinks

I was very impressed with the architecture and design of the hotel itself, especially the interior and artwork in the lobby/reception area. My room was appropriately styled to match the historical but luxurious nature of the hotel. Additionally, the hotel has a skybridge connecting to downtown Roanoke over the train tracks; very convenient.
My only complaint is that my room was a bit smaller than I anticipated. This is at no fault of the hotel as it was merely an expectation. The room still provided ample space for everything I needed and was disappointing in no other way.

room was very nice, lots of natural sun
there were wasps and ant around the pool which made it difficult to enjoy. There was also no pool attendant, we needed to call teh front desk twice before we could get any service at pool

I would like pool and hot tub to be open later.

I liked the location.
The hallways smelled bad. Wifi would come in and out. Staff was not helpful. Asked to have room cleaned, they said it would be but never was.

The location
The barmaid the wine the room was really small and very old

We had the Sunday Brunch at 11:30 & it was spectacular! Our room was also just so clean & cozy with a beautiful bathroom & fluffy towels.
4.4
it is a very nice property with beautiful amenities
one cannot open the windows - they are “engineered”
shut. So this felt a bit like a bird in a gilded cage, …. I loooove my fresh air. and being locked in is not my idea of an upscale hotel in a free America.
So I chose to move to another accommodation.
4.4
the style and location
no refrigerator in the room

Wonderful staff, everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Our female server at the Pine Club was especially helpful and kind as was the Concierge/Door person
The hotel staff should make note of the roof line damage above room 444. These tiles flapped and banging during last night's windstorm, causing a lot of noise above our room. Of course the weather was out of comtrol but the tiles on such an old hotel could hurt someone on the ground

it is absolutely beautiful so nice love the ambiance
could hear people whisper through the walls paper thing there was a banging sound all night long so loud interrupted our sleep had to get up and turn the fan on to drown it out which thankfully that worked but the bed was super comfortable

The spa services were great. The service in the 1822 Bar were great but the only option for non drinkers was Hienekin 00. There are SO many wonderful NA options out there. The location to the train and access to town was great.
I requested housekeeping and my room was never serviced. The over all cleanliness of the hotel was less than ideal. I stayed for 4 nights and the same pile of crumbled cookies remained in the elevator for 4 days. There was a lot of navigating room service dishes in the hallways consistently.
4.4
Beautiful historic property with amenities and easy access by foot to restaurants and shops. Valet or self parking available in spacious lot. Great bar off the lobby open til midnite. Quiet room.
Breakfast buffet was great but food cold by the time I returned to my table.
