Good old fashioned tavern

Awesome old fashioned tavern. Pretty good room furnishing. Great breakfast. Recommending pancakes.

We were in summer and it has central air conditioning. The only way to adjust is to open/close the ventilation hole on the ceiling. Other than that it’s an amazing stay.

Phenomenal Family Run 1700’s Inn

A true family owned property. Always went the extra mile to be of service, inquire if they could assist, and very knowledgeable about the area. very comfortable bed and the best sleeping pillows ever. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly cooked, with a great selection of options. Ohhhhh the front porch - what a fantastic place to sit, enjoy a glass of wine, and watch the world go by. Downstairs restaurant offers great fare on a diverse menu.

Would not change a thing.

Even though the staff was courteous and kind, I was glad that I stayed only one night.

Breakfast was fine, not particularly good or special.

The hotel is quite run-down. It's a quaint old place that could be charming if the owners would take more pride in it and put more effort into keeping it up. However, it needs to be said that the room and bathroom was clean and the bed had a comfortable mattress. Yet, there was no closet to hand up clothes, just an empty TV chest. And there was no coffee maker in the room.

Vintage Vermont at a Bargain Price

What a charming place! I would happily stay here again. The rooms are cozy and clean. The common areas (sitting room with fireplace, dining room, breakfast nook) are so inviting. The proprietor works hard to accommodate all requests. Compared to other room rates in the area, Smuggs is a steal!

The location was a bit far from our preferred adventures, but this would not be an issue in the warmer months when the road through Smugglers Notch is open.

Cosy and welcoming, lovely bright rooms with character. But the best thing was the breakfast, which is SO good! Best food we’ve had the entire trip and we’ve been eating out everyday!

The staff was very nice and kind. Breakfast was good and fresh.

We got a very small room for 3 adults, there was no place to put the luggage. Bath room without any room to put things, poor maintenence, cobwebs in many places. The heating system made noise.

No value for money

Good location with quick access to Smugglers Notch Park. Old building with character (but very wonky with few spots of no floor or wall straight levels). Parking on site.

Breakfast was mediocre: no buffet which I would expect, but few options to choose from daily and portions were rather small. To explain, we could choose three items out of these: 1. 2 eggs (choice of scrambled or sunny side), 2. bagel with cream cheese, 3. 2 toasts, 4. 3 (small) pancakes with maple syrup 5. Bacon/ turkey sausage (2 small pieces provided) 6. Sandwich with fillings but if decided on sandwich this counted as two items. 7. Bowl of yogurt with granola (small bowl !) 8. Bowl of fruit (also very small) We ended up adding our own sandwiches as heading for a day of hiking, such a breakfast was definitely not enough (and I do not usually complain about food portions). Bathroom was small with no shelves to put toiletries on so these pilled up on a window seal.

If you like staying in older Inns that have history then this is the place for you.

Breakfast was good. I enjoyed sitting on the front porch in early am. Mattress was comfortable

The room we had was very small, it did not have any temperature controls in our room and no visible air conditioner. The pillows were too soft for us. Water Temperature in the bathroom shower was difficult at times to control. If you are looking for lots of modern conveniences keep looking.

Good for a couple of days.

The breakfast was good. The bed comfortable. The shower was nice and warm with water pressure. The town was cute.

There was a big bug in the bathroom floor! The stairwells could use some cleaning.
