Beautiful property, great location
Staff not helpful. Didn’t volunteer any help at all. Breakfast at cafe Maxim did not work. I could not order with my room number.

The staff are fantastic, especially Christian who gave us a little tour of some of the beautiful original features of the hotel. It’s so charming. Rooms were large and airy and clean.
Note that there is no aircon but there is a ceiling fan in the room.

I needed to be in Palo Alto for the weekend to go to a Stanford program. I loved that most of the workflow (check-in and check-out) with the hotel was done via email and self-serve. It made everything super easy and quick. The hotel was also very centrally located meaning I could walk to all the major areas (Uni Ave, etc) and it took me about 30min to walk to the Stanford campus. The hotel was clean, organized and was functional. I found the bed and pillows to be comfortable and I had lots of space to organize my stuff.
My only callout would be to be mindful of the noise during the weekend (was there from Friday to Sunday) as the hotel is directly above bars and restaurants and it gets very loud. The hotel does provide earplugs as courtesy so I didn't have any problem with that and slept throughout but people sensitive with noise that also hear through earplugs might find it difficult to sleep. However, If I needed to go back I'd look to stay here again :)

The hotel is a grand old hotel, which has a beautiful lobby, but it is old. The rooms lack any ability to control the temprature. There is a radiator that you have to play with - and then sometime in the early morning regardless of where the radiator is set it blasts hot air. Even with the window open (in January) it was stiffiling hot. Also, there is no parking and street parking requires unloading and then parking, or lugging luggage all over downtown.

The location is outstanding.
Our room location was not good. Our room window opened onto a back alley w what I think was trash pick up at 530am. Strange as the place seemed almost empty so perhaps they should have put us in another room...

The location is wonderful. You walk out of the hotel and there are great restaurants and shops. It is 5 minutes from Stanford University. The staff were very friendly.
The hotel lobby was older. The lobby and elevator are old and smell funny. If you are a fan of of historical hotels this might be for you. Also, in the rooms, the bathroom sink is in the bedroom separate from the shower and toilet.
