It’s different than most hotels. No polished corporate feel, unique place, lovely people.
Bizarre place. It was clearly luxurious once, now it’s nice, opulent, but kind of a shell. Even though there are people there it feels empty.

The entire room was awesome. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was very nice
That we had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask for toiletries.

Beautiful room overlooking the interior courtyard. Reminded me of an elegant old hotel in Italy. Huge marble bathroom. No restaurant, but great bakery for my morning coffee and croissant.

The historic elegance.
The friendly, caring staff.

The room was so quiet. The hotel was central to town and also between SLO and Paso making it a perfect place to stay. The sheets were really nice- I love soft sheets!
Due to California law you have to ask for shampoo and conditioner at the desk. They were happy to provide them, and I personally like single use bottles vs multi use pumps. so worth the ask and not their fault.

The Carlton has been our go to hotel for the past two years when visiting Paso Robles. Room rates were on the high side and we were less than impressed with the room assigned to us this visit. The staff is always great. The location is great. We love Downtown Atascadero.
The room assigned to us this time was not up to standards for the price paid.

Loved this historic hotel with all the room upgrades. The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants. I loved walking down the streets and to a local park nearby, We very much enjoyed our stay.
I was disappointed that the restaurant adjacent to the hotel was closed. There wasn't a microwave in the room.

the lobby and elevators need some upgrading so match the lovely hallways and rooms upstairs that were really nicely renovated

Nice big room with refridgerator, comfortable bed, good water pressure, quick elevator, parking available right across the street in their private parking area.
The incredibly tiny bars of soap.

I loved the ambiance and the bakery had amazing breakfast sandwiches!! Parking was easy and the rooms were good size! Huge bathroom and a nice, deep spa tub.

the hotel is a historical building. it continues to have its 1900 charm and beauty. I think it’s haunted. we closed our curtains before bed and when we awoke, they were completely open. our doors were locked.
would have liked dinning or a bar at the hotel itself.

It was convenient, friendly, and elegant. The bakery next door and brewpub up the street added value. And someone had attended to the details, such as the fact that the hair dryer was designed to keep your hair from getting sucked into the machinery!

Convenient location after a quick wine tasting trip to Paso Robles. Bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were spacious. The property was more elegant and unique than the normal roadside chain hotels.
There were a couple of dark spots on the light tan carpet, although overall the room was very clean. Shower was a jacuzzi tub/shower combo and the climb in was very high.

the location was great and we found the downtown area of Atascadero to be a bundle of pleasant surprises.
the charm of this older building may not appeal to everyone.

Ice machine was convenient. They brought us a shower seat.
Our friends coffee maker did not work.
