Beautiful historic hotel.
They have a serious pest/fly problem. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and there were flies everywhere making the dining experiences very unpleasant.

Beauriful historic room and hotel. Great location near all of downtown. Easy parking. Great restaurant and bar. Can't wait to return.
Nothing - all great.

A beautiful, historic hotel right in downtown Red Wing. It’s nice to have a restaurant and a bar right at the hotel. The sheets on the bed were super soft and luxurious. The Port Bar downstairs was amazing.
The A/C unit didn’t really work properly so the room was a but too warm, but the front desk gave me a nice oscillating fan to use overnight.

Our room was very clean and appealing to look at. The only negative was the bed was small and too soft for two people.

Patio was lovely.
Very bad breakfast choices...passed it up to go out for breakfast instead.
Overstaffed, inefficient wait staff. They were sometimes too busy visiting with each other to serve us at the bar or at the table outside.

Room was clean.
Gluten free breakfast was awful; no real choices. You had gf bread... why not be adventurous with Avacado toast or eggs benedict with the bread... something! I had scrambled eggs, bacon, burnt hashbrowns and cold, unbuttered gf toast. Definitely NOT a treat.
No fridge or microwave in the room?? This isn't the 80's; everyone has this now. My view was a giant brick wall. Why not at least grow ivy on the wall... so boring.

The location can't be beat, right in the heart of Red Wing's downtown, walkable restaurants, shops and right by the river. The historical items throughout the hotel are something to see and take the time to read and view, all very interesting to a time gone by. They had room service the 2nd day which really surprised us, it seems most hotels have eliminated the everyday room fresh up since Covid so that was a nice surprise.
Right away when approaching the front desk, the young man at the desk was playfully "yelling" at another employee but it was very off-putting as the first impression. The hotel was full the weekend we went because of a town music festival. When we checked into our room, it was very small and overlooking another building with no view. I called down to see if we could change our room, we would be glad to pay for an upgrade if needed but were very rudely told they were at full capacity. I get that the hotel was full. Our window itself wasn't fitting properly so the wind literally was whistling though. I went downstairs to talk to the young man at the front desk and he was borderline rude to me when asking to move to a different room. I said, "We're staying here for two nights, and I have an important meeting in the morning, the sound from the window will keep me up all night." In a rude tone his response was, "Everyone is staying for two nights". I then said, "Can't we get moved to another room? You're telling me that everyone has checked in for the day?" He said, "No. We can't just move people around". He sent the maintenance man up to fix the window and I happened to catch the elevator with John on his way up. He was very kind and apologetic about the window and promised us he would fix it as we were on our way out to dinner. When we got back, the window was fixed and never had an issue with it the rest of our stay. The bed was comfortable but did have a slight dip in the middle where my husband kept rolling to the middle of the bed during the night, pillows were perfect. The hotel itself doesn't have many of the things hotels today have such as a pool or workout room, they have two very nice restaurants in the hotel to enjoy. In all our stay started out not so great but only because of the front desk young man Friday night.

I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel, the staff and location. We had a wonderful weekend, enjoying the history and ambiance...and the restaurant! We are already planning another trip back!

We loved the old charm of the hotel. it was so beautiful and fun to explore.
Unfortunately, we stayed on a Monday night and the beautiful restaurant and bar was not open. The hotel had given us a lot of advanced notice about this, but it would have been nice to dine there.
