The first floor room was clean, quiet, and well equipped. The beds were comfy. The morning staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable about the facility.
We chose this hotel specifically for the facilities - pool and pets, and paid considerably more than others in the area. We travelled here to attend late night performance that evening hoping to enjoy the pool, the outdoor picnic pavilion/pet area, and then check-in whenever the room was ready. Our check-in was disastrous! Nothing we asked for was allowed. Nothing in the reservation mentioned ANY of the RULES this location imposed! It was nuts! The front desk employee - I credit her for sticking to the rules, but she really needs a lesson (full course) on how to deal with people. No smile, no nothing, no offer to escalate or to research, make a call, nothing, just stoic - we were definitely an inconvenience. Even though prior to arrival, I had WRITTEN confirmation on my reservation that my party could arrive early and USE THE FACILITIES i.e. pool, we were denied....firmly denied. Reason: our room was not ready. We knew that and were only asking to use the pool. I offered to pre-pay, sign a waiver.... I finally asked for a manager, he was not available. I asked her to call him. She finally did. I asked to speak to him. For over an hour, we stepped aside to let other guests check out. I asked the manager to come to some sort of middle ground, some sort of agreement. Why am I doing that? The manager was just as inhospitable....I had to keep pushing. At last he was able to get us a room (we weren't asking for the room yet, just use of facilities - but ok, things were moving!) As I am thanking them for working with me, we learn only six people were allowed to use the pool and you had to sign up for a time period!!! NOWHERE was this ever mentioned OR written!! The pool and hot tub were dirty (tiles yuck) and the hot tub water was tepid. The pavilion shelter was nice but loaded with dog feces so obviously pet owners didn't care and neither did management. There is more to this experience, but I ran outta character space!

The toilet was broken and my boyfriend needed to fix it.

Nicely kept grounds, which is important to us because our dogs are walking around out there. Good location for stopping on our way to Norfolk & OBX
room was OK for a stopover, place seemed safe & friendly.

The staff at check in and in the morning were very friendly .
I was disgusted with the pool and hot tub which was the whole reason I went there. The pool was freezing and had a giant water bug at the bottom of the stairs in the water so we didn’t get in. After hrs of driving I found this place just for the hot tub to ease my back pain. The whole room smelled terrible , and when I turned on the jets to the tub black mold and or dirt came out and the water became very dirty. My kids wanted to just put their feet in but there was such a thick layer of dirt and scum all around the edges I couldn’t let them. It was absolutely disgusting it actually made me gag and we had to leave . I decided a hot shower would have to do , one of the towels was already soiled . The shower was dirty and cracked and looked like you would get athletes foot or something else . In the morning the staff I ran into were very friendly and kind . We went to eat before getting back on the road and the eggs were so soggy and gross I thought they were made with the pool water.I couldn’t eat at all and my kids only would eat cereal. This was one of the more expensive places in the area that only had a $5. discount in Booking . I honestly would have paid more for a hot tub my back hurt so bad but this was not only way over priced , it was filthy, disgusting and upsetting. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone. the health dept should look into their pool .

Really nice indoor pool & a hot tub.
Decent breakfast with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon, potatoes, cereal, bagels, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, etc.
Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is a bit tired. Paint’s peeling off, little things are falling apart, and nobody’s in a hurry to fix them.
The hotel claims that only 6 people were allowed at the pool at a reserved time slot. Nobody regulates it. I counted 16 attendees at one point.
