Great location and staff - Needs major cleaning and renovations

The location was excellent and everyone was friendly. It was great having the beach right there.

The bed and the bathroom were clean but everything else needed a cleaning. The walls, door and baseboards were dirty. You can tell they hadn’t cleaned under the bed and behind the furniture in a really long time. Carpet definitely needs to be changed. One of our balcony chairs was broken, the phone wasn’t plugged into the wall… it just seemed like the place needed a lot of updating and cleaning.

The property is very worn and did not feel well cleaned for our stay. Would not stay here again.

Friendly staff, free cruiser beach bikes to borrow. The waterfront bike path is great. Outdoor pool was reasonable with small water feature.

Room was not thoroughly cleaned; there was toothpaste smeared on the bathroom wall and surfaces had not been well wiped down. The box spring/mattresses were stained and questionable. The ceiling lighting didn't work, nor the main lamp in the room so very dark. There is no where to fill water bottles. We were offered a garden hose outside for water bottle refill.

I was glad that we only spent one night at this location.

The staff were very friendly. The location was very nice since we were within walking distance to many restaurants and the beach. The pool was very nice.

The room could have been cleaner. I was really bothered by the mold on the shower curtain liner. The coffee and cream packets were very stale.

Great place for a night but

Staffs are kind. Location is so good.

The room is very dirty. I found many different hairs from the bathroom and chair. Please wear your shoes. The furniture and the building are very old. There are spider webs all over the building but no one cares. So I think compare with other neighboring islands, they are overpriced.

It's always awesome at hotel Coral reef!

Loved the size of the room especially the the tub, since the pool was under maintenance at the time of our visit. Being that it's a ocean front hotel it didn't really matter that much.

Great stay overall.

Excellent location. Right on a small beach area and next to a lengthy bike path. Free bikes were provided. The property is located on the eastern shore and provided a good center point for heading north or south. The small town of Kapaa had two grocery stores and several restaurants and food trucks. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The rooms could use some TLC. Our room carpet had a lot of stains and the walls could have used some paint.

Amazing, relaxing, Kauai is a special treasure! The hotel is centrally located.

ocean front and being able to borrow beach equipment: umbrella, chairs, boogie board, towels. We did have a hard time finding a surfboard to use. Views were epic!

Bikes need to be updated.

A dream stay at a reasonable price

excellent location and beautiful room and oceanfront views. waking up to the sunrise over the ocean was a dream! the staff are friendly and gave us some tips on how to best enjoy our stay. we loved and appreciated every minute of our stay!

A short stay

It's close to the beach.

The room was small, outdated and not perfectly clean. The room door code did not work at first during check-in. A new code had to be generated. No elevator to the second floor.

Beautiful view , friendly staff and comfortable room on a beautiful island!

Room was clean and had the basic items, such as microwave and small fridge. Location is right on the beach, so a beautiful view from all rooms. Beach access and a nice pool were available.

Superb

Loved the contactless checkin! Made it so useful to arrive late without having to talk to anyone or arrange anything. Checkout was seamless. Just entered our room with the code provided. Also there is a resident kitty who was very friendly and the room was honestly very clean and comfortable for the price. Rooms come with fridge, microwave, and anything else you need. The AC and fan works well. The pathway behind the hotel along the beach is fantastic.

This was the last room available so we got one right off the road, which meant traffic noises in the morning were loud but it was checkout time anyway. The shower grout was discoloured and could have been a lot cleaner but overall it wasn't worth complaining about.

Would stay again !!

Staff was friendly and helpful and the room and grounds were great !

The tub / jacuzzi would not hold water. The drain was not working properly but all else was excellent !!
