We have stayed at the Carolina in four years and it was always one of our favorite places. It is still, obviously in a great location for anything to do with UNC.
Unfortunately, what used to be a classic beautiful hotel with Southern charm, has fallen to a “modern upgrade.” it doesn’t fit the classic feel or vibe of the hotel at all. They pretty much sapped all of the charm out of it, making it, yet another cookie cutter hotel. Thanks Hyatt!

Everything. It was lovely.

Breakfast on Monday morning was excellent. Staff members very friendly and prompt. Perfect way to start the day.

The recent renovations, infusing the history of the property and UNC Chapel into all the rooms, even the common areas. The proximity to campus, a 10 minute walk. The customer service was above and beyond. The bartenders make excellent cocktails!
The size of the rooms and the Wifi. I completely understand that one pays for the history, and location, while staying here. (The hotel was built in the 1920s.) Thank goodness I was solo traveling for work, as the room was quite cramped. I constantly bumped into things. Small quarters, I understood, were a given. (Though I hear there are suites, so that'd be good for a family.) The dropping of the wifi? After 5 pm, I would get constantly kicked off and it was frustrating as I was doing work emails. Request a room with good wifi!

Beautiful facility. Great location.
Room was small. Extra $23 night charge for parking. Breakfast not included. Too high a room rate not include anything.

the location was amazing but I was shocked by our small the room was. I loved the grounds and staff were courteous but a bit nonchalant.
the room we had in the third floor was tiny. literally a shoebox.

this is an iconic property that s important to our family as my wife and zi, my sister and our oldest daughter all had marriage receptions here
staff inept and an electrician woke us out of a sound sleep by triggering fire alarm at 5:45 in am

Wonderful! Best grits we have ever had! Good selection.
Nothing. It was perfect. Staff was gracious & friendly, furniture was lovely, & we enjoyed reading the history of the Hotel & UNC on the walls. We would go down a different hall each day to learn more fascinating facts! A heritage to be proud of! We even enjoyed the rockers in front— very relaxing. Convenient location amid campus & stores/restaurants.

I took my daughter to look at UNC, and we lucked out by staying at this wonderful hotel. It is a very luxurious experience. The food was excellent in the in-house restaurant. It improved out UNC experience for sure. I would book early if she ends up at UNC. Thank you all involved. Keep up the good work. Staff there should be very proud of this attraction.
