Location was amazing with very friendly and helpful staff who were always able and willing to assist
We were only there for 5 nights…. Wish we could have stayed longer 😊

The facility is great! The sunset from the restaurant canoe house is amazing.
The room is a bit old. But it still really nice. If you are expecting modern, chic and new kind of the room. Maybe it’s not what you are expected. But overall, we love this hotel.

We have been to this resort more than a dozen times, The renovation, while it looks nice, made some bad choices--slippery shower floors, heavy closet and bathroom doors, NOTHING IN THE MINIBAR! They try to be eco-sensitive with recyclable water bottles but no place to put them to recycle them! Small things--hair dryer didn't work--were annoying in such an expensive and posh place. And where were the evening hula dances. It's Hawaii!!
Way too expensive, no shops, complex check-in, and really bad advice from Booking.com. When I tried to reduce the stay on one of the 4 rooms, Booking.com advised to cancel that room and rebook a shorter stay. However, we were in the "no cancellation" zone and I ended up with two rooms! When I cancelled the one made at Booking's suggestion, I was charged a cancellation fee of $2000+ which was only lifted after much back and forth with Booking and the hotel. fd

This resort is really wonderful. We had an ocean view room, which was wonderful. The rooms are really well appointed and clean; functional as well given that this is a beach resort. The landscaping of the resort is outstanding. There are different pools and the beach, of course. The "adult" pool also works for lap swimming and is not so busy. There were always enough deck chair to use at the pools and beach and the service is generally very good, with friendly and helpful people. A highlight is really the sunset, which can be watched from the beach, the restaurants and bar, or just from a chair.
We had a massage (mine was OK, my wife really liked hers), took a canoe/snorkling trip and I took a SUP class. The water classes were great and easy to book. The gym is great, with indoor and outdoor section.
There are two main restaurants. The canoe house is amazing. Truly great Hawaiian and fusion cuisine, really well executed with great service. While it is expensive it is worth the money - maybe save some wine pricing by the glass for quite ordinary choices. The Halani/Ha Bar place is good but - like in all of the area - the prices are elevated to a silly level ($30 for a burger with so so fries). There is also a market that makes sandwiches and such and is great, with long opening hours.
Service attention was great. We were asked for our departure plans and shared that we would be leaving after lunch. The hotel offered late checkout on their own Initiative.
Generally, it was a great experience. Below are just a few nits that one can pick:
- Parking: there is valet and self parking. I'm generally too impatient to wait for valets if the lot is close so I picked self parking. However, you always have to drive past the valets to ask them to open the gate to drive in. (out is by sensor) If they are busy you have to get their attention. some access sensor with your room key would be easier.
- Business around: there is a small strip mall nearby but at the time of our visit most were still vacant after the pandemic. There was one restaurant. This limits the dining options close by quite a bit and you find yourself driving further than you might want to. There is another, larger shopping area about 5 miles away, which also has more restaurants (albeit of lower standard than the ones at the resort.)
- Some of the pricing: it's obviously expensive but you also get a great experience with it. It's mostly on the small things where you start wondering such as your $4.95 purified water in the Market or the $30 cheese burger.
However, overall, it's absolutely great! We had a great time.

Loved the openness of the resort and the outdoor dining. Food was excellent. Vacationers were constantly coming and going, but the resort never felt crowded. Housekeeping was spot on and always made sure we had plenty of coffee and towels. Location was perfect, very close to shopping, black sand beach, helicopter tours, etc...

bar staff at the adults swimming pool and bar staff at the hula bar great service. great facilities.
we was on our honeymoon and did not feel that the hotel made any effort to make us feel that it was our honeymoon, we had to wake up at 6am and speak to the desk to resolve the issues which they charged me resort fees even if I had paid this via booking.com. The lady that I spoke to made me feel that I was lying and I then spoke to carols the manager who did not believe me and made me show them proof via email. if you do stay here please do check if the bill is correct before checkin out. Carols the manager did try to resolve the issue by offering my 50 dollars that they had taken for my resort fees as a good will gesture I did not find this a good will gesture as he was returning my money anyway. The restaurant within the hotel called browns had a chef who was more interested in drinking with his friends then making good food.
