Liked the old school lobby and the ability to bring my dog. Bar was nice.
The room was very dated and could use some refreshing.

Historic hotel that has been well restored and has a good vib. Good restaurant on site.
Close to the train station and associated train noise.

Our room was above the bar so even with their provided ear plugs it was a sleepless night.

Charming historical facility. That was why we stayed there; and enjoyed that aspect.
No negatives.

We loved the vintage, restored historical feel of this old hotel. Nice old sitting area with fireplace and a nearby billiards room for relaxing. The room was large and very clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful. We couldn't get into the restaurant (no reservation on a busy Friday) but ate in the bar. Food was wonderful and the bartender (Carlos) mixed us up some amazing cocktails. Parking was fine in an adjacent parking lot; though the spaces were small there were plenty of space and it was reasonably lit at night.
The train that sounded like it came through the room at about 5:30 in the morning. However, overall we really liked this hotel and would certainly stay there again.

Wonderful, classic hotel downtown.

Very cool design and style… you can see the similarities between The Holland, The Gage Hotel in Marathon, and the Paisano in Marfa - all done by the same architect. Clean facility, everything worked fine in the room. Having the Century Bar & Grill located in the hotel is icing on the cake… great food.
The parking lot has narrow spacing, so more than a few hotel and restaurant patrons double park there on a regular basis; it’s frustrating.

great location downtown to be near everything
the railroad tracks across the street are loud at night. we had a junior suite, but no desk space to work remotely from.

Loved the history of Hotel and the town. It was clean and comfortable. Everything in walking distance. Restaurant food was very good. Had specialty drinks and they were awesome.
The hostess at restaurant seemed put off that we did not have reservations to the restaurant and told us it would be after 8pm or later before we could sit down. When we said we just checked in and was not aware of needing reservations and we needed to eat sooner. We turned around, and then she said there was an available table in bar. I know she was working hard, but could have told us that to begin with. The waitress in the bar was great. Remember to make reservations to eat in there lovely restaurant.

Only offered coffee & a granola bar. Coffee was not good
The room was not very clean. The carpet all around the perimeter had not been vacuumed in a long time. The fridge did not get very cold. The bathroom tub was in poor shape, the room had no Kleenex and even though I had requested an extra towel we didn't get it. When we asked questions at the desk the young girl couldn't answer our questions. The worse part was how loud the train whistle blowing all night long was. We got no sleep & was really disappointed in the whole experience for the price. The only good part was the location being in town we could walk to a restaurant to eat dinner & breakfast.

The bar and restaurant were great! Food was excellent . Also the location was great.
The room was bland, uninviting and looked nothing like the photos shown online. The bathroom was old and didn't look very clean.

Hotel location and parking was very convenient. Hotel and room felt like stepping into the Old West of Texas. Located right in the center of town and restaurant/bar was attached. Food was fantastic.
I was not given the internet password at check-in. As this is a more of a boutique hotel the desk closes early with a phone number to call for assistance. I had to go to the lobby and find a person who could provide the password to me after having had settled in to relax in my room. Also, although it contributed to the feel of being in a Texas "old west" town built around railroad access, the train blew it's warning whistle through town - at any hour. This was not a major problem, and the hotel had provided ear plugs for use while sleeping if you are sensitive to the noise interruption. (Any hotel in town would have this experience.)
