Very quaint and historical Inn. Enjoyed the photos and history throughout the Inn. Room was perfect with cleanliness and decor.
No elevator. A lot of stairs to the rooms. I was facing knee replacement surgery and was not aware of the stairs.

Chief's room is very spacious and comfortable. Kitchen with full refrigerator, sink, microwave and toaster oven, plates, glasses and silverware
Sound of the restaurant below with band comes right into the space, but they close at 9:00 - so it's ok.

The building had a lot of character and the room was clean and was in excellent shape. We were just passing through and I wish we were staying in town longer.

The Firehouse Inn is a very unique property. It was a cool experience to be able to stay inside such an old firehouse and see the history. The staff were very friendly and responsive to any questions and the room was the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in at a hotel/rental. I highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting this area of Vermont!

Amazing all around

The inn and restaurant is beautifully decorated. The staff and owner are really kind people. The place seems historical and with interior to match.
The noise in the room at night due to old building. It ha very loud dripping and ticking sounds all night.

Expired food in fridge, confusing check in

It is a nicely decorated suite in a retro style. It had a kitchenet with a full set of appliances (refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker), plates, glasses, and utensils.
The suite is located right above the restaurant which was opened until 9 PM every day, including live music on Thursday. As a result, due to the loud noise coming from downstairs, we could not relax until after the restaurant was closed. In addition, all available parking spots behind the restaurant/hotel were taken in the evening. Our only interaction with hotel/restaurant staff was during our checkin-in - no maid service was provided (cleaning, making bed, etc.). No toiletries were provided with an exception of one small piece of soap for our 4 night stay.
A few words about the hotel's location. While it is not the owners fault, the downtown area of Barre leaves a very negative impression - it seems deserted and almost half of storefronts are closed and just a few restaurants remain open.

Close to downtown. Easy walk to many places. Was able to eat breakfast close to hotel.

Room was beautiful and spacious. I would definitely stay there again.
The only thing to note is that there's a wonderful restaurant downstairs and it is very busy. The sound travels very clearly up to the rooms, which I knew going in. The restaurant closes at 9 PM so it wasn't a problem for us, but if you plan on spending more than your sleeping hours in the room, it would likely be bothersome.
Just the noise from the restaurant, and the stairs would be tough for some people to negotiate.

We loved the authentic, historical interior touches! The Chief's Suite was very roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed a great dinner at the Ladder Grill downstairs, which also had a fabulous, creative vibe...
We weren't crazy about the scent on the sheets...perhaps it was Febreeze, or another spray freshener. Other noses might appreciate it, but we just dont use that kind of product.

Rooms, concept, and execution make for a pleasant stay. A lot of nice touches.
Stairs are a bit challenging for someone with lower joint issues.

Better parking for clients. Too many spaces used by restaurant.

Great ambiance
Refrigerator could have been on a stand to lift it off the floor a little higher

Very clean, historic and extremely friendly. Restaurant served delicious food. A nice change from "cookie cutter" hotel experience. Very quiet at night!
Bathroom was only fine. In room entertainment needs upgrade. Parking a little problematic.

It was a wonderful experience. It was a spur of the moment booking as we were passing through VT on the way to Maine. Our 42 wedding anniversary had been the day before, so it was basically my anniversary gift to us. Hes a volunteer fireman and EMT so was thrilled with the unique location, I loved the historical aspect and the decor of antiques with modern.
It was perfect. Though the stairs were a little hard for someone with a bad knee.
