The room we booked via booking.com was not the room we were allocated. we booked their largest room which was shown as a cottage, with a full living room and kitchen. we ended up in room 208 which was basically a king size room. when we pointed this out on departure the receptionist failed to knowledge the system error and said it was our misunderstanding. we called booking.com and they confirmed the room we had been sold was different to the room we received. had they not said it was our fault we probably would not have complained.
the attitude of the reception person on check out. we tried to explain the mixup and she made it clear it was not their fault but our fault. this was not acceptable. I then found we had been charged twice for our stay and are now having to obtain a refund. the whole experience has been bad from start to finish.

location
restaurant and bar closed Sunday to Wednesday so couldn’t have breakfast or anything. Two days in a row room not cleaned by 4pm. had to ask for room to be done. Had no contact for a doctor and my husband was sick. Told to go miles away when we found a clinic in the village!

did not have breakfast, started late at 0800, never saw the menu, so cant comment further.
great location for my needs, lovely balcony
breakfast time very late, and was put off from the previous evening ordering room service and being charged $50 for a chicken ceasar salad, a rip off!!!
fyi: you can get a ceasar sald with Chicken for $16 at the bistro in the village, outrageous!!
poor lighting in the room, curtain rail broken, tv never worked, very poor wifi, i brought all these points up and some were dealt with but in most cases people started to fix things but then gave up
no information in the room

A bit noisy, they had work done in the next door room and when neighbor takes a shower pipes are loud

Breakfast was really good. Our server, Mitchell, was friendly and attentive. Zack in the small bar area was knowledgeable, friendly and patient.
Rooms are a little “tired”. Need to polish up the granite in the bathrooms. Towels were not absorbent. Extra blanket in room would have been nice.

Very noisy between rooms. Other guests were carrying on into the late hour. 1:00 am mid week

The setting was beautiful and just like the pictures.
The only downside was parking and getting to our room required that we walk down or up lots of steps and there was no one to take our luggage.

We love the property, dining on the patio (the food was delicious) and the close proximity to family who live in Rancho
Santa Fe.
Our room had a fireplace, which we did not use, but the room was very smokey. I had been to the property several weeks before to confirm the location of our rooms. We had requested the same rooms we had on a visit in 2019 and were told we would have those. Instead, we were given two rooms on the opposite end of the building, and our patio looked out over a parking lot and was not very private.

Breakfast was excellent, however, the patio area could have been washed down at least once a day.
I know the room set up, you could ask guest for room location preference.

Close to my son’s
Shower faucet was totally cold or drifted down to totally hot. Had to hold if with one hand while washing with the other.
What room service? - no menu
Pushed every number on “please push...for”. No one (restaurant, front desk, billing) answered so directed back to please push menu. Knew there was no satisfaction to be had with off property Marriott answer.
On the third day, I got lucky and called the restaurant and charming lady saw to it that my faucet was repaired. Disabled and the walk to front desk wasn’t possible. No offer of help with luggage or getting to cafe. Skipped breakfast every day.
Wish I’d chosen Omni.

Restaurant and neighborhood
Room, noise level is very high. I can hear everything what my neighbors doing. For this money can not recommend. Imagine 1am you feel like somebody tries to enter your room but its just noise from neighbor, because the doors are too close.

We've loved this hotel in the past, great location and historically wonderful service and value, but not quite at the level we'd come to expect anymore.
The casita's have fireplaces and always had wood piles around property in the past, but our room had one presto log, no matches, and we had to call housekeeping to get more fuel and fire. Also, took multiple calls to front desk to get an answer on each of the two times we called. Not sure if it's Marriot BonVoy's management (that's new since our last stay) or COVID, but seems less well staffed, a little less clean, and no longer quite at the top tier of hotels.
