Excellent location, outstanding accommodations, we could enjoy the beautiful surroundings from inside our cozy and luxurious rooms. Staff was warm and professional, most welcoming of any of our needs. We had a great time in this lovely Inn, we hope to return! We will recommend it to all our friends.
We liked everything!

very pretty location; clean rooms; good heating (it was -20C); located next to a coffee/sandwich store.
4.2
Breakfast wasn’t offered. We ate next door at the South Woodstock Store, which is always good.
I liked staying in the adirondak unit behind the Inn for easy access from the car and no stairs. We loved Ransom Tavern. Excellent food and wait staff.
I liked not having to check in or out as we were given a code to our room. In fact we never saw any staff other than at the Tavern.
Nothing not to like
4.2
Loved the charm of the main house and nearby country store. Also loved Ransom Tavern.
Did not like that we stayed in back lodge. Thought we were staying in historic inn would not have booked if I knew we were in the back lodge. Also did not like that rooms did not have coffee maker
And you had to walk to get coffee in the cold. And if you are a little late you had to go pay 3 $ for black coffee. Did not like that the fireplaces did not work. Why have them ? Big disappointment.
4.2
convenience to country store as there was no service at inn
Stayed in log cabins and did not feel like a cozy inn No coffee until 8:30 at inn and did not include breakfast did not realize pet friendly and have pet allergies ,however it did not cause issues Very overpriced!!!
4.2
clean and cheerful rooms. Excellent location
bright lights outside room, no cleaning service or breakfast served on property. There is however, an excellent country store next door that has breakfast available.
4.2
The pont next to the Inn is lovely. As well the food was great.
4.2
Great location/setting
Lovely room
Being the summer, having the pond to swim in was a real bonus
Slightly impersonal with the self check-in and no reception/bar area.
The restaurant and bar were shut the whole time we were there. Having 2 small children it would have been nice to have had more on-site facilities

love this property it is nestled in South Woodstock is and beautiful neighborhood. If you love stargazing this property is for you! There is a general store next door and the property has a tavern that serves pizza! They also have pet friendly rooms. Our pups loved the inn!
4.2
beautiful, clean rooms
noise. guests upstairs were extremely loud and we could hear everything. barely slept.

Location/accomodations were great
Extremely cold, icy weekend. Maintenance should have shoveled in front of rooms, not just parking lot. Also, no one shoveled a path to the country store next door.
4.2
Quiet, private, friendly staff, idyllic location, all the things you need right there (breakfast, great dinner spot, grocery items, gifts)
Couldn’t figure out how to work the fireplace, though I’m sure I could have easily called to get help. Also the big 2-person tub was great but wouldn’t stay filled.

First off- we booked during the peak of Fall tourist season so we were a bit desperate for any accommodation available. That said-- the Inn itself is located outside of crazy busy Woodstock and we liked that it felt more private and out of town. The Inn itself is a lovely historic place and the room was so cozy. We never came across any staff at all during our stay. There was a menu left for their restaurant but it was not open at all during the times we were there. It was so busy in town and restaurants are understaffed and closed many days due to covid so we were surprised there was not any communication or info left regarding "where" we could get food!! My biggest issue was that there was NO coffee anywhere on the property. I would have expected it in the room but there wasn't even a common area that provided it in the morning? You had to wait until the country store next door opened at 8 and wait in line. This was my biggest issue with the stay.
No staff anywhere to greet you or ask questions. No help for recommendations regarding local dining or access to food! #1 issue---no access to coffee anywhere on property.

Beautiful gardens. Loved our room and the chairs on the front porch. Very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the hike around the pond. Tavern was delicious for dinner. The Country Store was convenient for breakfast. The entire staff was delightful and accommodating.

Location was good.
Room was a good size but carpet very dirty.

loved the Inn and our location. we enjoyed the short distance to town and that we were able to walk around. it is a beautiful location.
we had an issue with the back sliding door not being able to lock it. There was a round piece of wood so that the slider could not open unless removed.
Also one of the upstairs windows we were unable to open the crank out was broken.
these two items should be repaired before others stay there

I did not eat breakfast, but had pizza, very good.
Did not know you had to have reservations for dinner as a guest at the hotel. Would have liked lounge chairs out by the pond.
4.2
Quiet location, nice pond for swimming, great Vermont general store right near by with good take out breakfast.
Never received a response from the front desk when I called and left a message requesting room service. Could have fit my 3-person family in one of the rooms we reserved which had a pull-out sofa, instead I was unnecessarily booked into two separate rooms, which cost more money. The person I spoke with when making the reservation could have clarified that there was a sofa bed option.

I remember the former Kenton Valley Inn - space in the Main Inn and porch and behind the Lodge for guests to sit awhile, lounges at the beach, Adirondack chairs in front, and coffee makers in the rooms. These little amenities that made the stay lovely are gone. The refrigerator in our room froze all of the things we put in it (including liquids), ruining them. It was a very expensive room for the value, because of the lack of these little touches. We miss the atmosphere at the included breakfast and the gourmet restaurant. The artisan pizza is limiting and hugely expensive.

No breakfast
Location perfect for us
They didn’t make bed or clean room in morning

We loved the setting, the gardens, and the artwork. The room was clean and comfortable.
No negatives

Tavern pizza and staff were great
The room was hot, no air, or window to open. Small fridge and coffee pot. There is nothing close until the store opens. Tub is very creaky

The location is A+. I love the Country Store next door - it’s so Vermont!

Their contactless check-in and property use was so, so easy! The deluxe suite was 2 floors and the bathroom was beautiful! The South Woodstock General Store is literally right next door and driving to Woodstock for dinner was easy. Several great restaurants in Woodstock (10 minute drive) that do to-go and the food was delicious. We live an hour away from Woodstock and were just looking for a change of pace for a night and this was wonderful!
We happened to stay when the restaurant on the property wasn't open so I can't speak to the food there.
