I’m a big fan of lighthouses and have always wanted to spend a night at one. Staying at HI Point Montara Lighthouse was a dream come true and even better than I imagined. Extraordinary beautiful location, peaceful beach, gorgeous sunset. The facilities were nice and clean and it was nice to chat to other travelers from all over the world.

Un lieu d’exception ! Nous avions l’un des hébergements doubles, avec vue sur la petite plage… un régal !
L’équipement est simple mais fonctionnel. Les hôtes sont super accueillant. Bref un magnifique séjour

We woke up every morning to the sound of breaking ocean waves. People were so friendly and helpful.

Can’t beat the location! Awesome very accommodating staff when we were unsure of the time of arrival. Also appreciated the updated gate entry since we were there last.
Windows were pretty hard to open and close. Sink hot water faucet in the unit bathroom kept sticking and running for a long time, wasting water.

We made a 3 weeks California round-trip and were in 8 different Hotels. This was the definitely the one which was special in a positive way. The whole location, although pretty old and loads of renovations needed, was just gorgeous and beautiful. The scenery right at a small private beach with its historic light house (which is still in duty) was like a perfect movie location. If you look for a nice location with lots of privacy and silence it is the best place to go. We enjoyed our time very much and it slowed us a bit down after other locations like Las Vegas
Even though charming buildings there are renovations needed. As the Hotel is run by a non-profit organization this is probably a funding issue.

the property and lighthouse is very run down. the toilet was falling off the wall. everything needs updating and a good scrub. The smell in the apartment was not good. this was over £200 per night and so I did expect more. The location was breathtaking. I do think this could be completely redone and be a fabulous wedding venue with rooms. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
The views from the bedrooms was gorgeous

The location is unbeatable. Being clifftop oceanside gives you the most incredible views imaginable!

The view was BEAUTIFUL!
Needed more privacy in living room area such as curtains and maybe having the video camera inside removed.

Absolutely love this hostel! I’ve stayed in countless hostels & whilst this doesn’t have the luxuries or the value for money as SE Asia hostels the location & scenes make up for it. Cliff top benches looking at the ocean!! Good kitchen, nice staff, decent WiFi. Would definitely recommend.
Mattress on my bunk wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it wasn’t bad enough to really complain about.
