Can be noisy. No water pressure. Many times mo one is at front desk.

It is a historic and charming property within walking distance shops and restaurants.

The location was wonderful, my room had a view of the water, and check-in and out were quick and painless. The bathroom was great. It had a big tub for two and was bright and sunny. The decor was all Victorian.
The bed could have been a little more comfortable.
5.0
quaintly comfortable (like sleeping at your favorite aunt’s). breakfast (though would’ve preferred at least 1/2 hour earlier)
bed was hard (and I like a hard bed!) and being so high we had trouble getting up and in w/out little stairs

The room i had i looked out onto a filthy, depressing, deplorable disgusting roof and air conditioning. I have booked for thanksgiving 2023 the room with a view

Didn't have access
Everything was ok, it would have been nice to have one more set of towels

I love this old charm hotel. This hotel is beautiful and in the heart of Bencia.
The location and the beautiful vintage furniture.

The history of the hotel we had some paranormal experiences during our stay
The elevator seems janky

The room was absolutely delightful! I loved the old time decor! It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I had dinner (take out) at the bar and grill downstairs. They were friendly and the meal was delicious. Lived the hotel!
The outside of the building looked old and I was a little hesitant at first. But inside was great.

I love charm and history. this is my second time staying and I truly love this hotel.
nothing to be honest.

Not much.
Carpet and walls were dirty. Ceiling light did not work in the bathroom. Tub faucet could barely reach into the huge tub. Tub had a rubber plug. Wall behind mirror in bathroom had a bad tape job, and the bathroom mirror was too high on the wall that a short person could not use it. Both tub and bathroom sink handles turned the wrong way. Breakfast was a Costco special, tables were not clean and not all had table cloths on them. Coffee was too strong. Bar was not open after 11:30 pm on a Friday night. I understand the hotel is old, but it looked tired and worn down.

Television set was not working properly; otherwise, a very nice, quiet stay.

Charming! Has a lot of character.. amazing location. Need some updates and a much bigger TV.

Very friendly, kind staff; the hotel and room were charming and rustic; the hotel itself is located amid tons of shops and where festivities seem to happen. The hotel is also next to the bay, so it's a short walk from gorgeous views.
The wifi was spotty; the toilet seat in my bathroom was broken; a fan would have been useful for mitigating the heat, since it was hard to get a breeze in the room and I didn't feel comfortable sleeping with the windows open for safety reasons. I also didn't feel safe due to the unsecured entrance to the hotel at night; the front door was wide open after 10 pm, with no staff around since the bar was closed and the front desk was empty, and no security for the elevator.

Quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet, and did I mention Quiet? :)
The furniture and decor make the stay in this inn very pleasant. VERY clean!
Good breakfast selection and nice rapport with front-desk personnel.
Minor , really. Cosmetics in some rooms, such as paint and some bathroom fixtures, could use upgrading.

The location on First Street right next to the strait can't be beat! Staying in a hotel that opened in 1852 is also very special. I would stay here again - it beats anything else around.
The controls for the shower made it a little hard to adjust to get just the righ ttemperature.
5.0
It's an amazing place to stay and a little unique. If you want to imagine yourself in the old west, but with comforts and amenities of the modern world, or just say "charming". Everything was great, the heating cooling system sucks a little because it's on or off instead of adjust to temp. The bathroom is wonderful and well appointed! Everything is in great condition but has an antique ambience. Quiet and private. Lots of space. Not about frills but very comfortable and all the basics.
The heating cooling system has to be on or off, the temp can't be adjusted. The coffee pot could have had more condiments.

I liked the town the hotel was in. The hotel itself is old and needs repair, particularly the bathroom. There was a beautiful view from the large window in the room as you enter.
I liked how nice Erika the front desk/hotel manager(?) was so accommodating. She wasn't sure however what was going on with my payment through booking.com. Said my card didn't go through. I paid again only to discover I had been billed twice. Once by booking.com after arrival, and once by Union Hotel upon arrival. I called and Erika said she would refund my card.
grout that had what appeared to be mold spots all around the tub/shower area, as well as broken tile. I wouldn't have bathed in the tub, even though a whirlpool. The Armoire used for a closet was almost impossible to open, definitely needed some wd40(?) it was screeching.

The rooms and hotel as a whole could have been cleaner.
