Location
Room smelt and very tired, clearly depending on the location to get business.
Not value for money.

Location and scenery were amazing. Staff were more than awesome with everything. Great place to visit!

It was a beautiful lobby area, with friendly staff. The rooms were exceptionally clean, spacious and nicely decorated.

We asked for a refresh of towels and amenities on Day 2. Our request was ignored. We then scheduled a refresh on Day 3 and again our request was ignored.

The restaurant exceeded my expectations from the staff to the food!! The lodge is beautiful and comfy.
no help in getting bags upstairs...beds were very uncomfortable.

It was very beautiful and peaceful at the lodge.

Loved the location in Spearfish canyon!
The plumbing needs updating, sink wouldn’t drain well.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the canyon. The views all around are amazing and if you like to hike there are at least 3, maybe 4 trailheads right on or near the property. They also rent ATV's and there are hundreds of miles of awesome trails to explore. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The beds are super comfortable and everything is very clean. There are 2 hot tubs off the 2nd floor deck that have spectacular views. The Latchstring restaurant is right across the street for dining convenience and there is a small bar in the hotel with an award winning bartender named Emily. She is super personable and can fix up any drink. I've stayed here twice and plan to be back. I love, love, love this place!
There is not much bad to say about this place but if I have to say something then my only complaint is that coffee in the lobby is not available until 7am. I am an early riser and appreciate my coffee as soon as I get up. I think 6am would be a little better.

Not much
It’s a tired facility. Pictures are much better than reality. Too far removed from food/drink.

Beautiful lodge and great location hot tub lobby checkers etc.
Not their fault but internet was down most of the day/night.

Beautiful location, lodge looked nice, the room had a smell, the restaurant was a good place to starve, there were half the tables empty and at least 6 people waiting, the staff acted like we weren't there, we didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food, if their under staffed have the decency to explain the situation, take food with !!
4.5
Beautiful setting and grounds!
Was clean however a little dated. Would have been nice to have a breakfast included. Also other options close by for meals.
4.5
When entering the lodge the space is captivating because of the beautiful wood elevating a gaze upward and a rock fire place inviting a sit down for a board game or a conversation.
Breakfast included in some small way as we were in a rush and it is a distance to a convince store to grab a bite. There is a restaurant next door that is charming with lovely views and a refrigerator and microwave are in the room.

The Lodge location is absolutely perfect, right in the bottom of the canyon's valley. The surroundings are breathtaking!
Our bedroom light was glitching, the shower head was not working well and the curtain in the windows were mal functioning. In summary, our bedroom needed a little bit of maintenance.

Lodge has everything in wood, including an impressive lobby, and all furniture in the rooms.
The restaurant across the street offers for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Wifi only in the lobby.

The location was beautiful, plenty of things to do, close to Spearfish, Deadwood, & Lead.
New mattresses are badly needed! You will roll to the center & quite uncomfortable.
4.5
The rooms were very clean, including along the edges of the walls, the beds, and behind the fridge and desk. All signs that even the small details aren’t missed in the room. Staff were all friendly. Great access to the snowmobile trails!

laocatin to trails and restrant.
Hot tub was filthy and too cold--human soup
4.5
The atmosphere of the room was wonderful, especially the fireplace. It was very cozy and welcoming. The lodge is beautiful with a grand fireplace and chairs and coaches to lounge on. There were games available for families to grab and play, a bar with beer and wine choices, and nice little gift shop, and other nice accommodations. The scenery of Spearfish Canyon is breathtaking and the lodge is close to so many activities. There are many recreational extras you can rent or access such as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, biking, four-wheeling, etc. The staff at the rental shed were very helpful and friendly. The Latchstring restaurant which is close by had excellent food - a bit pricey however.
The view from our room was the parking lot and you could hear cars, snowmobiles, even people walking on ice and talking through the windows. They could use an upgrade in their windows. The pillows on bed were pretty flat and worn out. I didn't expect an additional daily "resort fee" and service charge added to room cost.

The lodge and rooms were great, with that, the rooms might be getting a bit dated. I enjoyed the fireplace out in the lodge and the staff kept it going even on request. I ended up hurting my back and went to check out a day early. I was told I could not get a refund for leaving early because I booked through Booking.com. I’m frustrated, but I was glad to get home. By leaving early, we also avoided a large winter storm.
I should have realized, by going through a third party online, I would not be able to cancel or change my reservation. Live and learn?
