About this house rental
Welcome to The Retreat at Scaurodoon. A beautiful recently built, 2 bedroom condo type house. We are located in the heart of Burns Country in Ayr, beautifully situated at the estuary of the River Doon, right by the famous Ayr Beach. Burns Cottage, Museum and the famous Brig O'Doon are all within a 20 minute walk . There are beautiful river walks and stunning beach walks on the doorstop and Ayr Town Centre is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the house.
There are top class restaurants, cafes pubs and shops within easy walking distance.
South Ayrshire is also golfing country and there are two excellent local courses within a ten minute walk from the house and several other top flight links courses within a 20 minute drive including Prestwick Old Course, the site of the first ever Open Golf Championship and the British Open courses at Royal Troon and iconic Turnberry.
Further afield Glasgow is within an hours drive or 40 minute train journey from Ayr Station. Edinburgh is about 90 minutes drive from Ayr. There are plenty of public transport options nearby
The property itself is beautiful with all the facilities you will require for your stay. Both bedrooms have King Size double beds, one of which can be split into 2 singles if required. There is a "Jack and Jill" bathroom between the two bedrooms and another shower room downstairs.

Well-equipped, very nicely presented and comfortable house in a fabulous location next to the river and beach. It’s a lovely quiet location and we enjoyed seeing a couple of deer trotting up the street, whilst we were there.
Gary very kindly left us a large selection of breakfast items in the fridge, plus tea, coffee, milk, condiments etc, all of which were much appreciated on the morning after attending a wedding.
We’d love to stay again in future for a weekend break and to bring our little dog who would love the proximity to the beach and the safe enclosed garden.
Really clear and helpful communication with Gary in the run up to our booking and, although we didn’t cross paths on our stay, his son was ion hand in the adjoining house if we needed anything.

The property was advertised as a 3 bedroom property however it is only a two bed.
The property and the owner were fantastic and the location is great for long walks on the beach.

Convenient location - only a few minutes walk to the sea and about 15 minutes walk into Ayr along the seafront. Well appointed property and a welcoming host. Will definitely use again and would recommend to others.

The house is a great base for exploring Ayrshire. Ayr beach is right on the doorstep, Alloway and Burn's country is just a short drive down the road and it's not too long a drive or train journey to get through to other town and cities. Gary was a great host and was onhand to help whenever required as he stays in an attached annex. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend this house to stay in.

The perfect location for a trip home to visit family. The Retreat was the perfect base - clean, spacious and modern. Close to the beach and all amenities. Great Location
This property is in an ideal location for quiet sea front walks and close enough for all the amenities in Ayr. Culzean Castle is a short drive away and a great day out for all ages. Loved the Burns experience in Alloway. The property is modern and well equipped, beds are extremely comfortable. Great place to just relax.

Excellent location and property
Cannot praise this property enough. When we arrived the second gedroom has a king size bed with two single quilts. I rang the manager who arrived with a new quilt and new bedding. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful house and perfect location for the beach. Highly recommend.

Lovely short break
Just what we were looking for. Great house, fantastic location and sunshine what more could you ask for. Our dog loved it and it was great to have a safe, enclosed garden for him to roam in. Hopefully will return

Booked this property for myself and my groomsmen the night before our wedding at brig o doon house hotel. The accommodation was perfect in every way , Gary replied to any queries almost instantly and cannot fault anything . Full breakfast and bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival was a lovely touch too. 10/10.

Couldn't fault a thing!
Beautiful condo, it exceeded all our expectations. Stayed here with my husband and daughters aged 6 and 14.
Plenty to keep us all entertained, the girls particularly like the local equestrian center and had 2 lessons/hacks. We enjoyed the local castles,parks and tree top adventure.
The accommodation itself is stunning, like home from home, everything you need is provided.
Even got left lovely breakfast goodies and prosseco in the fridge. Bonus of a dishwasher and washing machine to use.
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic stay!
My son, his partner and I were attending a wedding at Brig o’Doon last weekend , and only a short taxi ride from the property. We absolutely loved our stay , so lovely, and in such a nice location. Such a surprise to go in and find the fridge full of breakfast items and a nice bottle of wine! Also what a nice touch to have the Xmas tree up and it all looking very festive when we arrived. Thank you Gary for being so helpful and considerate and would highly recommend a stay at the “retreat” .

Great house with all modern comforts
Booked "the retreat " for our daughters wedding in alloway . Gary was amazing host and we loved staying here.... comfy beds ... great kitchen ... a lovely space for a family or 2 couples to spend time together . Loved the little touches... fresh cakes, bread ... butter and a breakfast stuff left in the fridge. The Christmas decs were even out when we arrived..... the lounge /diner looked amazing l.

Amazing property, great location
The property was lovely, modern and bright. It’s in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the beach. It’s a good base for sightseeing, we visited Dumfries House and Calzean Castle which are only about a 20 minute drive away.

Excellent property and location
We were delighted to stay at Gary's property. He was the perfect host and we had a fantastic time staying there. The house is located right on the beach within easy walking distance of Ayr town centre and Alloway. There were plenty of amazing walks and also restaurants and pubs within walking distance. There are also lots of places of interest to visit in Alloway. The house itself is very modern with everything you need and has a lovely terrace with tables and chairs. The garden is very safe for children and pets.
We'll definitely return again in the future.

Lovely place to relax and unwind. The owners are lovely and check in was a breeze and your pretty much left to it. There is everything you will need here from toiletries to food basics to a little cake on arrival, delish!
With everything going on out there we didn’t do much but there are plenty of shops and the beach right on your door step is beautiful.
It really is a home from home and are planning on returning next year with our son.

Mother & Daughter Staycation
The property was lovely exactly as the pictures showed and located within meters of the beach. River in front of the property and literally 25m and a walk over the bridge and you are on the beach. Great sized bedrooms and jack and Jill bathroom which was perfect for us 😊�

My only two comments would be we didn’t realise that the property was attached to the family home - wasn’t a problem as separate entrances at the front and back of the property but just conscious of it when you sit outside. Second the parking is opposite the property at the beach parking. Again we had no problems parking and could see the car from the house so it wasn’t a problem but it’s not parked on the property if that bothers anyone.

Brilliant stay
Stayed with my wife & Spaniel Barney at "The Retreat" Scaur O' Doon in Alloway, & had one of the best 3 day breaks we have ever had. The house & position to the beach were excellent for our needs. House was first class, bedrooms, bathrooms, living room & kitchen throughout. Gary made us feel right at home from start to finish. Superb. Andy McDonald.

Fabulous dog friendly getaway!
We (4 adults and 2 dogs) had a great stay! A wonderful, well-equipped house with all mod cons. The beach is just a few minutes walk away and ideal for walking with the dogs. There's a friendly pub within walking distance (Balgarth Pines) which serves reasonable food and we had a great breakfast at the Secret Cafe (also walking distance). Also walked into Ayr itself. And Gary was very welcoming and helpful!

Lovely modern accommodation... Very close to all essential amenities and short walk to the beach. Gary was a lovely host and made us feel very welcome and the accommodation had everything we needed.
Constructive feedback would be a mirror in the bedroom, amend description to say 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed and maybe new garden furniture. Would stay again.

Short break near beach
We had a really enjoyable relaxing time at this property in Ayr. Arrived to find the fridge stocked with Wine and breakfast supplies! The property is immaculate and very modern and spacious. Only a few seconds walk to the seafront which was ideal for the children and our dog. The only tiny thing was no mirrors in the bedrooms which would be useful for drying hair etc. That’s such a small thing though and didn’t spoil our stay. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back to Ayr again soon. Thank you for having us.

Very happy with our stay
Very happy with our stay at the retreat at Scaur o Doon. Communication with Gary was always very good, location was right next to the beach and ideal for what we were looking for. The small added extras of breakfast food, milk etc was a nice touch. The house was very modern looking and well kept, the only small gripe would be the living room could have been cleaner as it needed a good hoover once we arrived but apart from that we really enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic property, hosts and location
So easy to book and great communication from Gary and Leah.. We stayed here for new year with friends and our 2 dogs.. On arrival the propery is even better than the pics! Such great touches from the hosts on arrival - breakfast, cupcakes, prosecco and thr most amazing loaves of bread.. Thr location is a stones throw away from the beach which we took full advantage of on arrival and throughout. The beach sunset was beautiful and a crisp 1st January walk in thr Beach blew the too many glasses of wine we had thr previous night.. The property is like a home from home and very well equipped.. Thr rooms, shower and living area are all fantastic.. We will def be booking to stay here again.. Thank you so mhch for making our new year so restful and relaxed! Exactly what we needed x
