About this apartment rental
The apartment occupies the top two floors of an old Georgian townhouse in Bloomsbury, a quiet, elegant corner of central London, close to Russell Square, Kings Cross-St Pancras and Chancery Lane tube stations. You are in the centre of London, close enough to walk to most of the places you'll want to visit, short bus or tube rides to other tourist must-sees, but this is a quiet, secure part of town with little night time traffic or noise. The most common phrases in our visitor's book are 'great location' and 'we'll be back'.
Built in the 1790s, this historic building boasts all the luxuries of a modern home, including a fully-equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer plus lots of pots, pans and utensils for cooking), washing machine, satellite TV and DVD player, free wi-fi, power shower and modern bathroom.
The spacious living room is light and airy with two large sofas plus a chair that converts into a comfortable single bed. The TV has multiple satellite channels including Sky Sports and there is a dvd player and a few DVDs. Our bookshelf is stuffed with books which feature London, guidebooks for London and maps for you to take with you as you explore the city. We also have a few toys for young children and games. Two large sash windows with Georgian wooden shutters look out to the historic street below.
The adjoining kitchen is light, spacious and has a dining table and six chairs. It has everything you would expect in a modern kitchen; oven, hob, large refrigerator, separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and two coffee makers. The kitchen has plenty of crockery and cutlery, cooking utensils, baking trays, saucepans, a wok, pots, pans and everything you need to make a family supper and eat in. We also have a flask and some sandwich boxes for you to make lunch and take it out with you (ideal if you are feeding a family).
A short but steep flight of stairs leads up to two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower, with plentiful hot water. The basin has a mirror over it and the heated towel rail and underfloor heating keeps the bathroom warm and cosy.
The large master bedroom has a king-size double bed and a single bed with large wardrobe, feature mirror and Victorian chest of drawers. Two bedside tables with drawers each have a touch operated lamps. There's an alarm clock too. The master bedroom can sleep three people, but is usually used for two adults.
The second bedroom has two single beds (adult sized) with Victorian chest of drawers, hanging space for clothes and mirror. Both bedrooms have 'black-out' blinds so that you are not woken by early morning sun.
A cot (baby crib) and highchair are available on request (please bring your own bedding for the baby's cot). Bed linen and towels included.
A hairdryer, an iron and ironing board are provided, along with an umbrella.
A good choice of restaurants are within a 5 minute walk and there is a large Waitrose supermarket 10 minutes walk away in The Brunswick Shopping Centre. A smaller Co-Op supermarket is a convenient 3 minute walk on Grays Inn Road.
This is an ideal holiday home for a family or friends looking to explore London from a central base.
John Street is a six minute walk from Russell Square tube station (subway) or Chancery Lane tube station. We are a 15 minute walk to Kings Cross-St Pancras stations (tube and Eurostar trains to France). We will send you full directions when you book. Just let us know which airport or train station you arrive at.
Getting Here - Air: It is an easy journey from London Heathrow Airport to John St, as the local tube (subway or underground) station runs directly to the airport. From there it's a 6 minute walk to the apartment. From other London airports (Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or City airports), you can take the train into the centre of London and make a short tube or taxi journey to the apartment. We will send you full directions when you book.
Getting Here - Rail: John Street is a fifteen minute walk from the mainline stations, Kings Cross and St Pancras International where the Eurostar service for Paris, Lille and Brussels now departs. Euston Station is a few minutes further away. It is a short bus ride from London Bridge and Waterloo stations. Paddington is a tube ride away.
No hidden extras: Price quoted includes VAT (sales tax), bed linen, towels and cleaning. There are no hidden extras to pay to the property owner.
ALLERGY SUFFERERS: we have blinds (no curtains), wooden floors in the bedrooms (the only carpet is in the hallway) and can supply feather-free bedding on request.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING? - we have six sleeping places but as we only have one bathroom we do not let the apartment to six people. If you are a party of five, please state if you would prefer to have three people sharing the largest bedroom (in one double and one single bed) OR one person sleeping in the living room. We will only make up beds for the number of people you tell us are staying.

Great apartment and host. Easy access to the tube, but many sites are within a mile walk. Truly enjoyed our visit. Just be aware that it is a walk up on the 3rd and 4th floors of the building.

We had a great time in London staying in a spacious, well maintained apartment In Bloomsbury, within walking distance to all the major London attractions. Home away from home- well maintained facilities, helpful host.

Nice clean flat. Great location.

Girls trip. Great base location to underground, busses, trains.
4.8
Flat was as expected from description by owner and reviews from former renters. The building is beautiful in a mostly quiet neighborhood. Some loud car noise during the day, but quiet at night. This is a large flat that was perfect for our family of 4 with 2 kids 18 and 20. Enough room for each of us to have our own down time without being on top of each other. Having one bathroom was interesting but we made it work. Kitchen well stocked with a Waitrose grocery store a 10 minute walk away. (Lots of premade, heat and eat food here that is high quality).
Location for sightseeing is excellent. Short tube or bus rides is all it takes.
Overall an excellent visit to London and we would stay here again or recommend to friends.

This place was perfect. Pre-arrive communication was very informational. Melissa packed every possible scenario in her email. The apartment was bright, spacious, clean and well stocked. Enjoyed the stay and highly recommended.

This was our second time staying here. It is a quiet spot in the middle of everything. Most of what we wanted to visit was within walking distance. When we raised a small concern, Melissa responded quickly to fix it. Her staff is in the building during the week, so it is easy to get ahold of someone. We checked in and out over the weekend and it was easy and clear what to do. Overall another great experience.

My family enjoyed our stay in London. Property was clean and comfortable, close to subway and walkable to many places. Would recommend. Not luxurious, but can’t be beat for the price.

Delighted to stay at no.22 where we received a warm welcome. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable, while in keeping with the style of the building. It has shops, pubs and restaurants nearby and gives visitors a quieter side of London while being very close to the centre, within walking distance of some attractions.

Perfect location !
Met all our needs !
And loved the pub down the street too!

Nice and pleasant to stay. Highly recommended

Pros:
Great host with good communication
Great location close bus lines, train station, pubs, groceries, etc
Space is large
It is clean and stocked if you need to clean up after yourself
Comfortable beds, sofas, dining
Great folder with instructions, recommendations, and emergency instructions
Already has some conversion plugs
Cons:
LOTS of stairs (two flights to main flat), then another one to the bath/ bedrooms (bags can difficult)
The groceries are a small walk which is easy but if you are carrying a lot of groceries can be a haul
Street noise can be a lot at certain times of day/ night… if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs or a white noise maker
Slow drain of the shower

The apartment was in a fabulous location. It was close to several bus and train routes. The area was very quiet just after Christmas. The stairs are hard work, especially the flight up to the bed rooms and bathroom. Having said that, we would stay there again.
4.8
The property was large and comfortable.
Stairs to enter but it was written that.
We enjoyed our stay.

The apartment in Bloomsbury was perfect for our 10 night stay in London. Our family felt at home and the apartment had plenty of room for all of us. The description of the apartment was very accurate and the location was ideal being close to multiple tube/train stations and the Brunswick Centre that has plenty of places to eat and a good size supermarket.
Thoroughly recommend this apartment for anyone’s stay in London.
Big thanks to Melissa for accommodating our family.

We LOVED our stay in this flat! The location is convenient, safe, and quiet. After a full day of sightseeing, it felt as if we were coming home. The flat is spacious and well equipped. I would stay here again and highly recommend it!

Great!

Within walking distance of everything you need plus 2 + tube stations. Loved the neighbourhood, felt safe at night.

This apartment is in a great location, with lots to see within an easy walk and plenty of bus and tube stops very nearby. It's in a nice little neighborhood with plenty of decent restaurants and pubs nearby. The visitors' guide provided by 1the host is very fine- detailed, precise, comprehensive and useful, with lots of good advice about where in the area to find everything you might need or wish for, and our host, Melissa, was an ideal of helpfulness and accommodation. The apartment itself is spacious, light, and well-supplied in all respects. The stairs to the bedroom floor are steep; perhaps not best for those with knee problems. Otherwise, top marks

We loved this place. It was clean, spacious, and fit our needs perfectly. It is located within easy access to anywhere in London or the region. We highly recommend it.
4.8
Property was beautiful, spacious and well furnished. The location was fantastic and close to several tube stations and within walking distance to many of Landon’s famous tourist attractions. Property owner (Melissa) was great, responded right away to any question and was extremely helpful.
4.8
A perfect stay in Bloomsbury, the location was brilliant and so very quiet, it was hard to believe we were in the city . The apartment manager Melissa provided precise and accurate information , she always responds promptly and her communication with me prior, during and after our stay was exceptional. A 10/10. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I’ll start with the negatives first because there really was only one thing. The two flights of winding steps to get to the apartment door were not fun but tolerable. But the last flight to get to the top floor were the bedrooms were was rough with luggage and were an awkward step height and quite challenging if you have balance issues. That however is the only negative thing I can say. The flat was clean, very bright and spacious, in a safe neighborhood, close to bus stops and only minutes away from the main attractions of london. Wonderful restaurants nearby. Loved our stay!
4.8
Excellent location a short walk to all forms of transit, multiple excellent restaurants and some first class pubs. Home is tidy and well kept. Has everything a family of 3 or 4 if kids are willing to share a room needs.
4.8
This was an excellent place to stay, great location, everything we needed - and spacious.
4.8
Great place to stay. Represemted accurately in listing. Spacious and comfortable. Only downside was the stairs - lots of them. Difficult with heavy suitcases. Got help to carry them up but had to manage to get them down again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment during our one-week visit to London for our 40th anniversary. The location was excellent: just minutes of walk to the tube station, authentic pubs and diners, great restaurants, and various markets. The apartment was clean and spacious. The owner, Melissa, was very responsive in her communications before our arrival and even accommodated our need for an early check-in. Overall the apartment was excellent in all aspects and we would not hesitate staying there again.

We loved the apartment! It was spacious and clean. Melissa was great and very helpful. It’s well located with easy walking distance to the subway. We had a great time in London. Thanks for a great home away from home!!!
4.8
The home was perfect for my whole family. Enough beds for everyone! Loved having all the amenities of a home while away, especially a washer. Did not need a dryer as the sun was able to dry everything during the day (even jeans!). Location was great. Near so many underground stations traveling was never limited. Pubs and grocery shopping nearby as well to make the stay even easier. Will definitely plan another holiday to London and stay at Melissa’s property.
4.8
My wife, three young children, and I had a fantastic stay. Great location with a welcoming host who was very accommodating. I’d stay again for sure!
4.8
Our family of five (parents and 3 kids, aged 11, 9, and 6) stayed here for a week. It was just what we needed as we explored London on our kids' first trip here. Close to tube and bus stops, the co-op around the corner for groceries, Fred for coffee and croissants, tons of restaurant options, and Coram's Fields playground around the corner – we were close to all the amenities we needed. The apartment was clean, beds were comfortable, and the shower was hot. We were able to do laundry twice, which made light packing much easier – I echo a previous visitor's advice to use the 15 minute wash cycle. Everyone we interacted with from the agency downstairs was friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting London.
4.8
This apartment was great - much more spacious than I expected in London. Easy walk to the tube station, and walkable to many tourist attractions. Our teen loved having his own room. It wasn't a problem for us, but if stairs are an issue be aware the apartment is the top two floors of an older townhouse with no lift.
4.8
We had such a lovely stay at this walk-up apartment in the heart of Bloomsbury. The apartment was perfect for our family of three (with a fourth visiting during our stay). Clean and spacious with all the amenities needed. The tube was a pleasant 10 minute walk to two lines and many buses about a block away was all we needed to get to all destinations in a jiffy. The neighborhood is safe and quiet at night yet lots of places to visit including two pubs within a block and restaurants/shops a quick walk away. Melissa was a wonderful host and was super helpful with recommendations and help when needed. My only regret was not being able to meet her in person but that also speaks to how unintrusive yet responsive the hosts are. We will undoubtedly be looking to book here again when we visit London again!
4.8
This apartment can serve as an excellent base for your London visit. Due to its location, most of London's must see attractions are within walking distance (less than 3.5km).
There are other things to do or places to see further from this apartment, but London's excellent public transit system puts them all within reach. If you must arrive at your destination by a certain time, use the subway (known as the tube in London) since the buses will be stuck in traffic especially during the rush hour.
As noted in the property description, to get to this apartment there is some stair-climbing involved. Also, inside the apartment, the bathroom is on the second level, together with the bedrooms and some narrow stairs are involved.
The living room and the bedrooms are very spacious.
If you intend to use the washing machine for clothes just use the 15 min cycle otherwise you will be there for 2-3 hours. Then if the clothes are too wet, just go through the rinse and spin cycle (another 10 min) and you are done!
Coming from North America, you might find some things odd about the apartment, but keep in mind that you will only sleep there and spend the entire day outside.
The mattresses are very good, some are soft and some are firm.
The apartment is clean, with clean bed sheets and clean towels.
4.8
This spacious flat is on a quiet residential street but is close to the Tube, shopping, the British Museum and many other attractions. The stairs are steep but because the flat is high up, it is flooded with light. The kitchen is well equipped, complete with a washer. The host has provided a book full of helpful neighborhood information and suggestions of things to do.
4.8
Lovely flat in a great location!
4.8
This is a lovely spacious apartment with all the amenities you need for a great stay in London. It's very central and close to buses and the underground, plus it's walking distance to the West End and theatre district. The host was flexible and accommodating, and had great communication and gave very clear instructions. It is on the second floor of a Georgian town house so quite a few stairs to get to it, which we found fine, but worth bearing in mind if you have any mobility issues.
