About this cottage rental
Whaling Captain Pierson's Cottage is at a waterfront property and is a unique environmental experience which is a 7 minutes’ walk from the center of historic Sag Harbor Village. It is the only cottage offering a vast, picturesque, panoramic view of beautiful Sag Harbor Cove from Main Street as well as the most spectacular sunsets. (See my reviews from my other listings entitled, "Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment" and "Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment TOO".)
If you do not see the booking availability desired, look at my other postings of Whaling Captain's Pierson's Apartment Apartment and Whaling Captain Pierson's Apartment TOO. Or, if your party is larger than the cottage can accommodate consider booking both apartments and the cottage.
Whaling Captain Pierson's cottage is on Captain’s Row nestled behind the Captain's main house surrounded by nature overlooking the cove. The cottage’s antique furnishings reflect both a classical and whimsical ever evolving sensibility without feeling stuffy, crowded or old. The cottage has one queen size bed in the bedroom and one single size day bed in the living room, self-controlled central air cooling and heating, working fireplace, claw-foot tub/shower, kitchen, private beach access, expansive grounds and abundant parking.
The cottage is ideal for allowing privacy to loving couples, the single visitor or the various types of creative and performing artists who are looking for a haven to relax and/or create. Experience the cottage and nature or just be part of its inspiring, healing, spirit and soul uplifting surroundings.
During the day you may see ducks waddling, bunny rabbits with small white tails scurrying, blue breasted birds frolicking, turtles meandering across the lawn. Also white swan(s), ospreys, ducks or seagulls flying or swimming in Sag Harbor Cove during the day. And at dusk, deer walking through the property after nesting and napping all day.
You are free to use any of the various chairs, tables or benches situated on the front lawn and middle lawn.
Sag Harbor Cove is also where our private beach behind the property is located for water access to sun-bathing, swimming, sculling, canoeing or fishing if you rent or buy the equipment from one of the specialty shops in the Village.
I am most definitely available to give you help throughout your stay. You will be able to reach me by a cellphone call to my listed number with Homeaway/VRBO and/or email.
If you have a car or rent one, there is plenty of parking available on the street along the property.
Sag Harbor is a vibrant year-round village with plenty of activities both cultural and family oriented alike. There is a performing arts theater, gym and spas, yoga studios, art exhibits, festivals and parades which occur throughout the year. There is also a variety of antique, clothing and novelty shops as well as many fine restaurants, bars and local beaches.
Sag Harbor can be reached in 2 hours by car from New York City, the Hampton Jitney or the Long Island Rail Road. The Hampton Jitney stops in the center of the Village of Sag Harbor. The Long Island Rail Road’s Bridgehampton station is 15 minutes to and from the cottage by taxi or car.
Additionally, bicycles can be locally rented and used to explore more of Sag Harbor and other surrounding areas not necessarily within walking distances.

This property exceeded my expectations. Adorable stand-alone cottage, wonderfully appointed and fantastic location a short walk to the center of town. Easy on-street parking, private and quiet accommodations. Hosts were immediately responsive and helpful. I would definitely seek this property out if I was going to come back for another weekend in Sag Harbor.

Very comfortable and great location. It’s a very cool experience living in such a beautiful historic cottage. Paris is friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lovely weekend with his recommendations for vintage shops. The cottage was the perfect escape from the City that my husband and I desperately needed, we would definitely stay again!

What a charming cottage! We really enjoyed this well-equipped, air-conditioned, perfectly located cottage in a prime location in Sag Harbor! Decorated with interesting antiques, the cottage is a free-standing structure with gorgeous views of the water. Easy walk to Sag Harbor village. The owner was responsive and easy to reach. We really enjoyed our stay!

With a lovely view of the cove at Sag Harbor, this cottage is so well located: You can walk to all the amenities downtown, yet the property itself is completely private and quiet. The host met us upon arrival and was informative about the property and its history, and then left us to our privacy. Always just a call or text away in case he was needed. Back yard facing the water is private, and you can walk to the beach. Bed is comfortable; we slept well. Excellent deli across the street for a quick take-out breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful weekend in this perfect cottage, despite Mother Nature’s failure to cooperate :)
The wonderful and serene location overlooking the water was matched only by the proximity to the town of Sag Harbor - less than a 10 minute walk or 3 minute drive.
The cottage itself is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated, very comfortable and spotless.
Our hosts were lovely and helpful.
Even as NYC residents who spend as much time as possible on the East End of Long Island, this was a very special find.
We can’t wait to come back when the sun is out!
Thank you for having us.

I just returned from this lovely little house and had the best time ever! The living room and bedroom are spacious and nicely decorated, kitchen is tiny but has everything you need, there's a fireplace but you need to bring your wood (!). Best of all - it overlooks the water and it is so peaceful, beautiful and quiet! It's a short walk to center of town. Highly recommend!

I chose the worst weekend imaginable for an escape to Sag Harbor, as temps dropped into single digits and the wind howled like it was trying to take this cozy cabin to Oz! But I stayed warm and comfortable inside, and there were lots of homey touches to keep me from being too sad about not really getting to enjoy the gorgeous surroundings. Would definitely like to return at a more hospitable time of year.

Spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable cottage just steps away from everything Sag Harbor has to offer. This cottage is situated on a beautiful piece of property with access to the water. Sunsets from the outdoor furniture were breathtaking. This was our first trip to the Hampton and I think It would be tough to find a more ideally located place to stay that afforded easy access to all points. We enjoyed exploring the entire island but found the charm or downtown Sag Harbor to be our favorite place. We enjoyed the short walk from the cottage to all the downtown restaurants and shopping…so convenient and easy. We didn’t have to worry about parking or traffic so it was just one less thing to think about while enjoying our vacation. We really enjoyed our stay and will recommend this cottage to our friends!

A Very Special Cottage
I can't say enough good things about this cottage. We had everything we could need or want, and the location is simply stunning. The decor is, for lack of a better word, curated to the finest degree. Every object is there because of its form, function and beauty. We loved the comfortable bed and state of the art TVs and internet connections. Maybe not important to all, but my husband and I are tech dependent. The sunsets in the evening over the water were so magical and peaceful. The cottage is right in the middle of Sag Harbor with quaint shops and restaurants just down the street. I highly recommend this rental, and thank you Paris and Clifton for making your place available.

Cute Cottage
The cottage was cute, clean and nice location. The biggest problem however is that the furniture, with the exception of the bed, is very uncomfortable. There is not a comfortable chair to sit on. Aside from that, the cottage is lovely.

A Slice of Heaven
We had the most perfect weekend getaway here! The cottage is quaint, clean, and quiet. The view of the water from the yard is spectacular. It is located near a beautiful park with a lake and is so close to town, shops, and restaurants. We walked and drove in. Parking was not an issue this time of year (late October). Paris and Clifton were incredible hosts and so accommodating. We were able to bring our mini doxen along with us which was a huge bonus and made the stay complete and stress free. 10/10 would recommend and we can’t wait to come back!!

Sunset Cove
The charming cottage was perfect for our 1st visit to Sag Harbor. Paris was a gracious and welcoming host with wonderful suggestions.
Our last night we experienced the most beautiful and unforgettable sunset in our own backyard.

Unwelcoming
While I’m aware that I cannot expect staff or help at a VRBO property, owners were exceedingly rude and unhelpful. Never stay there again.
