About this house rental
Detached character house with large garden and superb views, two minutes from Ceret town centre
A detached house in a large garden, two minutes’ walk from the shops, bars and restaurants in Céret, with views of the Canigou and nearby hills. There are two terraces with garden furniture, to enjoy the sun at different times of day. The garden is part of an old cherry orchard, and guests are welcome to enjoy the cherries in season, as well as chestnuts and figs from other trees. In addition there is a lawned area and two terraces at the front and back of the house, to benefit from the sun at different times of day. There is parking available within the grounds for up to three cars.
The house has been recently improved to a high standard. The accommodation consists of a living room with dining area, three bedrooms (two double with king-size beds and one twin), a bathroom downstairs and shower room with a separate toilet upstairs. There is also an armchair available that’s convertible into a small single bed, which would suit a child. There is air conditioning in the living room and all bedrooms (much needed during the hot summers); these also provide heating in the winter. The living room also has a log burner. The kitchen is well equipped, with an induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher; there is also a washer-dryer.
This is my second home, and I and my family and friends use it regularly. There is therefore usually a supply of long-life foods in the kitchen and frozen food in the freezer. You are welcome to make use of any of these if you wish: I would just ask that you replace anything that is running short.
There is WiFi in the house, a TV and DVD player. There are also a number of books, games and children’s toys for the use of guests.
Céret is a picturesque small town with a great deal to offer. It is mainly known for its modern art museum, with an impressive collection for a small place, featuring artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Chagall and Braque, who all spent some time in the town. In addition it has a number of good restaurants and bars, and a lively atmosphere, especially in the summer, with regular festivals. There is a large Saturday market, which attracts people from a wide area. Being near the Pyrenees, Céret offers plenty of country walks with impressive views, several of which can be easily reached on foot from the house.
Within a short drive there are coastal resorts such as Collioure (another town famed for its artistic connections), and Argèles-sur-Mer, with its superb beaches, plus a number of pretty villages such as Banyuls des Aspres, Laroque-des-Albères and Corsavy. The Spanish border is only about half an hour’s drive, and for art lovers Dali’s museum at Figueres and house at Cadaques are an easy day trip. Further afield, Barcelona and Carcassonne can be reached in a couple of hours.
There are good transport connections, with flights and trains to Perpignan, about 40 minutes away, and a number of other airports within a couple of hours’ drive. There are regular bus services to Perpignan (only 1€!), so although a car is very useful, it is feasible to manage without for a short stay

Ths was an ideal place fir us, spacious and comfortable. We could have lived here permanently. It was December but we could still sit outside. It was only a short walk into town.

A lovely house in a brilliant setting in the town of Céret. Having air conditioning was a great bonus especially in the hot weather. The facilities in the hoyse were excellent and the patio area had shade when you needed it.
Céret and the surrounding area is wonderful. Céret has an excellent market on Saturday, plus great cafes, and the museum of modern art. The surrounding area you have mountains if you like, beaches if that is your preference, lovely villages in the plain to explore plus Spain on your doorstep. Loved it!

Great house, highly recommend. Great location in the foothills and very central and walkable to the town. Good bakery, weekly market and a few good restaurants nearby. A very nicely appointed and provided for kitchen making cooking easy and enjoyable. Spacious overall with very good size bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Good position to explore the region, loads within 90mins drive and plenty just walking out the front door too. Very peaceful house despite being central, and town not too touristy. Stayed for 9 nights as a group of 3 adults in late Sept.

I chose this area as it is close to Catalunya and for the Impressionist Art Museum. It was delightful walking in the town with the plane trees that were first planted in the 18th century.

Perfect
We had a magical time at Steve's; the kids loved their morning errand to buy croissants and the location could not be beat. The house was spotless and well-appointed and Steve was very responsive when we had a minor internet issue; quickly resolved. We had two fabulous beach days at Collioure, visited the local waterfall, climbed la tour de la Massane, visited Spain, and more. Ate very well in town at Quatrocento, 9 Jets, Le France, and of course at the Saturday market. Plenty to do and explore - hope we can come back again!

Tolles Ferienhaus, klasse Ausstattung, 1A Lage

Wunderschönes Sommerhaus in Südfrankreich

Steve has an absolutely beautiful property and house. We loved staying there.
We had a very positive experience staying at Steve's house. The house is very charming and cosy, with a fully decked out user friendly kitchen., at the Foot Hills of the Perinees Mountains and 2 mins from the town centre.

Beautiful house in a stunning location
Lovely house, nestled in a quiet valley above the town, but only a 5 minute walk into the main square and old town. The house was very well appointed, with plenty of basic provisions in the kitchen, (only a trip to the local charcuterie and green grocer needed to whip up a great meal!) Lots games for the kids to play, plenty of space outside to run around in, and (on those rainy days, not that we had any!), a netflix subscription on the telly (though can't imagine you'd need it with such a beautiful town and surrounding countryside to explore).
The house is beautiful, with fantastic shutters, behind which are floor to ceiling windows to look out over the valley (from your bed!) Lovely terraces, that capture the sun at different times, a great back garden, with a big table we enjoyed our evening meals at, and in a very peaceful valley with just the sounds of the birds (and the church bells!) to wake up to.
Steve was really helpful over email, offering plenty of recommendations on where to go and what to do, and obviously knows the town well, and has set the house up perfectly, to offer a real home away from home.
We spent a lovely 4 days there in August, exploring the town, enjoying the restaurants, and cafes, and enjoying the fantastic museum of modern art. We loved the Saturday market which seemed to occupy the whole town and offer everything from artisan foods to fresh meat and veg (and some lovely stalls of toys for the kids!). Great beaches only a half hour drive away (we loved El Racou), and plenty of interesting things to explore (don't missGorges De La Fou)
We'll definitely be back!

Nice house in a great location
We had a great experience staying in Stephen's house and I would definitely return. The house was very clean and really well equipped, and is a nice space to be in, both inside and outside. Steve was very responsive and helpful, and provided a lot of information in written form. The house is in a great location, literally a couple of minutes walk to enter the historical centre of Céret (the main part with art museum, etc., is another 5 min walk north). There is a good boulangerie about 3 minutes away, where you can get your baguette and croissants in the morning.
