4 guys on a golf trip to Tucson. House was great with plenty of room and great back yard. Convenient to plenty of courses.

Wonderful place to stay, our hosts were so accommodating and helpful making for a memorable vacation!
4.0 / 5.0
The house is very spacious and met our needs. The grounds outside were very nice. Kendra is very accommodating. The kitchen is nice and had most everything we needed. Our biggest surprise was the second bathroom in the master bedroom. The shower door in that bathroom kept falling off, so essentially we had three bathrooms to use instead of four. When you say it is five bedrooms and four bathrooms, you should explain that two bathrooms are in one of the bedrooms.

We’re a group of eight men ranging in age from 72 to 90 and this is our fourth time staying here.
Like in the past, this was the perfect setting for our homebase as we enjoyed nearby, restaurants and sites in Tucson. We also love the indoor and outdoor generous meeting spaces as well as using the hot tub. We definitely recommend it and will be soon booking for our next year‘s visit.

Host was extremely helpful and responsive. House was perfect for a small family reunion. All beds were comfortable, kitchen was wonderful to work in with plenty of space to cook and keep food in large refrigerator. Table seating was ample of the 12 of us and there was a very large, comfortable sofa in front of the large screen TV. The grounds were well maintained and a gardener was on the property. We didn't use the two hot tubs or the outdoor kitchen, but both looked wonderful. I would highly recommend this property. It was a joy to be there.

My family loved the beautiful house and all the space! Great place to hang out and chill for a few days. Thank you!

We had a pleasant weeklong stay at the ranch main house. The check in process was simple and the place was set up to be quite user friendly. The house does have a couple of quirks, like one of the guest bathrooms being inside the master suite (which has a different master bathroom), and the only access to that guest bathroom being through the master suite door. The guest bathrooms are dated in general. But overall the place has a good amount of room, the expected rustic ambience, and our group had an enjoyable stay.

Horse Thief Ranch is such a special place. First, Kendra and Keith are lovely people. Then, the property is beautifully decorated with fascinating pieces of art, cool furnishings and comfortable beds. Our family of eight could spread out or longe together in the hot tub, which we did many times. The property is located close to all the activities that interested us, such as the Saguaro National Park, Colossal Cavern, downtown, etc etc. We loved Horse Thief Ranch and couldn’t recommend it more.

We had a very nice stay at the ranch main house. We had a total of 8 people from two families. There were plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms so the teens could have their own rooms. The master suite was exceptional. There were many luxuries throughout the home, including massage chairs and hot tubs. The property manager was easy to contact and often present on the grounds to answer questions. The house was very clean. We loved the shared space in the yard with many places to sit and relax to soak up the winter sun. The close access to the walking trail was a bonus! The tortoise was a big hit with the kids! We enjoyed watching her eat after the property manager fed her. We are grateful to the owners for opening up their living space and allowing us to have a great place to stay during our visit with the grandparents.

Our family stayed at Horse Thief Ranch when we had a wedding in Tucson. The home was pristine and was the perfect landing spot for all of our weekend activities! The location is fabulous… nestled in the Catalina foothills. We visited Sabino Canyon and enjoyed hanging by the pool and Jacuzzi. The house itself is beautifully appointed and the beds were very comfortable! Will definitely visit again!

This is our third visit to horse thief and we enjoyed it as much as the last two times. It’s the perfect place for seven guys to relax visit and enjoy beautiful Tucson in April. The house had everything we need and all in excellent, working order. Lots of indoor and outdoor spaces to use and a very convenient location. Close to natural resources and restaurants. Will book our stay shortly for next year.

Great family reunion property
The house +1 casita was the perfect spot for my family to gather. The grounds were fantastic for outdoor socializing and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to cook an Easter dinner. The best surprise was the resident tortoise, Myrtle! Highly recommend!

Tucson Golf Trip February 2022.
This was an amazing property perfectly suited for our golf group. The kitchen, bedrooms, family rooms, and bathrooms accommodated our group of 9 very well. We met the owners and found them to be very pleasant and professional hosts. Looking forward to staying there next year if our group visits Tucson-- Brian Schwalm, Pueblo West Colorado.

Golf Trip for Eight
We rented three casitas and the main house for a week. Excellent place to stay and recommend to others. It was clean, plenty of room and we had all the necessities for a fun stay.

Great place for a group
Stayed at this property for 8 nights with my co-residents during a course and it was a great place for all 7 of us. While a little further from downtown, this property had a good amount of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a large kitchen/common area and backyard. Kendra was easy to communicate with and answered all questions in a timely manner. Overall, it was a great place to stay!

Save yourself the headache, book with someone else
The property was and the location were okay, however we had several issues with the owner (Kendra) that are going to ensure we don’t stay here next time.
I needed a place for a business trip w/16 people, and thought I lucked out when I found this property, listing a sleep occupancy of 20. On the day before our check in I pulled up the property listing and noticed that it listed a maximum occupancy of 12, but they didn’t notify us of any changes. I contacted the rental company to check in about the discrepancy & they told us that the occupancy policy changed but that they’d still honor our 16.
After we met the owner I knew this stay wouldn’t be all smooth sailing. Aside from the fact that she was visibly nervous around my party (most of whom were young black men), she began walking me through the house and listing the value of her belongings to emphasize how important it was that we not destroy anything. “That’s a custom 20-something thousand dollar couch so please don’t allow anyone to even SLEEP on it”. I assured her that we are here for business and had no intention of any raucous behavior.
She went on repeat multiple times that they always “take a very close inventory of everything in the house” after check out, and stated several times in the walk through that they’d know if we took any of their things. Something tells me she doesn’t do this with guests who look a *little* more like her.
The property doesn’t allow smoking AT ALL, so be aware. We were told upon checking in that any smoking needs to be done “in the back of the property”. On the early morning of our second day the owner came in to the large back area of the property and saw someone smoking. She approached me and stated that there was no smoking at all and that we had to leave the property to do so (also understandable if she had communicated it clearly). I apologized and told her I misunderstood her on the previous day and that I would correct the issue. 30 minutes later we got a call from the rental company stating that she reported us for violating policy by “smoking INSIDE the house”. I let them know this was an inaccurate description of what happened but I assured them that there wouldn’t be any other issues. I’m assuming the purpose of the owner reporting is to make sure we now have to fork out the additional cleaning fee.
I’ve never felt this uncomfortable renting from STR (and I do it often), Kendra should probably reevaluate owning a VRBO.

Amazing property!!
We had such a lovely stay at the Horse Theif Ranch!! Kendra, Keith (owners) and Amanda (helped to manage the property ) were all very nice and helpful.
To summarize our stay.....We had 12 people in our family visiting the Tuscan area (1 is a resident to the area) and it was super comfortable for us to enjoy as a family during the day with 8 of us staying over night. We stayed for 9 days and did not have any issues at all. The house is FULLY stocked with everything you need to enjoy your vacation (just stock your own food and beverages!)
Some of our favorite features were the HUGE spacious master bedroom with 2 full bathrooms (that shower tho!!!) It includes a beautiful claw foot tub and a good sized double steam shower (really, it was one of our most favorite features). Most of the beds are adjustable. My kids loved that they got their own bedrooms, which are all decent sized. The outdoor patio was amazing too! We loved visiting with Myrtle the Turtle (tortuous but nothing rhymes with tortuous. Lol)
And having an overground pool and jacuzzi was fantastic (we just wish we came during the year when the temps outside were not quiet as hot... it got up to 113)
The front patio/ sitting area is so serene and overall the whole house is decorated with a lot of thought. It's fun, eclectic and beautiful. And ohhh my what a view!! Mountains every where you looked!
The bedroom on the other side of the kitchen has a king and queen which worked best for my in laws because my brother in law is handicapped.
The only 2 things we didn't love was how small the bathroom was for my in laws (cause they are all tall) and the bar was not open to guests. But those were anak things compared to how wonderful everything else was.
If you are having an event and want to rent out the full property or a family gathering here in Tucson, this is definitely the house to rent!!! If we ever make it back to Tucson, Horse Theif Ranch will hands down be where we stay!

Tucson Golf Vacation
Beautiful piece of property. Comfortable beds and great vibrating chairs. The master bedroom has two bathrooms which made it inconvenient for the 4th couple to use it without disturbing the couple in the master bedroom. The outside pool was not as large as depicted in the photos. All in all, we had e great time and enjoyed our stay.

The property was just what the listing said. The house and backyard were very spacious. We had everything we needed to get away and forget about COVID for a week. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

We had a great stay at the Horse Thief Ranch. Kendra and Keith were great hosts as well, very responsive and accommodating. But note: this is NOT a private home. The outdoor amenities are all shared with about four other units on the property. In addition to needing to coordinate use of the hot tubs, grill, and fire pit, other guests will often be visible/audible from every room in the house. For example, there were a number of other guests with dogs barking and relieving themselves in both yards, including right outside the dining room in front and living room in back, throughout much of the day and night. Again, we absolutely had a great stay and I would 100% recommend the Horse Thief Ranch. But not if privacy and personal space is a priority.

Beautiful property. Some things to be aware of.
We stayed in the main house for 5 days and I would say there were some lovely things about the property and some things that made it less desirable.
The master bedroom is huge with 2 bathrooms. The main bathroom had a lovely two nozzle/2 person shower. There was a gas fireplace too. There was a massage chair in the room but no power cord for it. The bed is the kind that adjusts up and down and has a massage function. We didn’t use that but the bed was comfortable.
3 other bedrooms were just simple rooms and they all shared one bathroom. The 5th bedroom was down the hall near the kitchen and that bedroom had a bathroom across from it, but not in it. It’s too bad that none of the other bedrooms had a bathroom in their room. Still, everyone slept fine. The contrast between the master bedroom and the other bedrooms made me feel badly the other rooms were not as nice.
The kitchen is nice sized and we could have several people all working together in the kitchen. It was well stocked with basics. When we got there, there were no dish towels, so we asked for some. There was an on-site person to help us. He didn’t know where they were but eventually found a couple of dish towels somewhere. With a kitchen of this size and the number of people in the home, there should have been a good stack of them. There were also no napkins, although the on-site person brought us some paper ones. There was also no clean sponge. If the owner doesn’t change this situation, I would bring my own dish towels, napkins and a sponge. The dishwasher was broken when we got there and needed a major part. It didn’t get fixed while we were there because the part had not come in. That happens. My chief complaint about the kitchen was the state of the cookware and knives. The pans were old nonstick type of pans that were all scratched up. This is not healthy to use these types of scratched Teflon pans. Also, while there were many knives, none of them were sharp so it was hard to cut some things. Perhaps the owner could sharpen the knives? If not, and you are planning to do a lot of cooking, bring your own.
The property was very beautiful and lots of gorgeous places to sit. The garden was beautiful. The outside BBQ area was great. We didn’t use either the hot tub or infinity pool but they looked nice. The only thing I didn’t like about the property was the proximity of one of the casitas right next to the main house. I was hoping for more privacy, I didn’t like having people so close.
The house is spacious with lots of nice spots to sit. We spent a lot of time in the living room area off of the kitchen. You can cook and still keep an eye on everything. There were also two massage chairs in there, but we could only get one to work.
All in all, we had a good time and the property was memorable. I think the owner needs to upgrade the cookware and knives to make the kitchen more useful.

The house and property are beautiful, very spacious and has everything you need to be comfortable including a fully stocked kitchen as far as appliances and utensils. Nice large refrigerator and awesome Viking stove. The backyard was great for barbecuing as it has a full grill and kitchen area as well as a lot of seating .
