Villa updates
• There is now a table tennis table
• Lots of additional toys and games for children, both for inside and outside
• The kitchen has been updated with new white units and we have a new table in the kitchen too
• If you fancy staying in but don’t wish to cook, a chef can come round to the villa and cook barbecues for you, paella or other Spanish/European favourites.
We launched Celeste for rental in November 2015.
However, having carefully selected it from over 50 top class villas to buy in the area and having looked at 100s more on the web, we can assure you that it has the most stunning views we’ve seen by far, from every part of the property, plus the best and most expansive outside area: there are several terraces and pergolas, with various spaces with sunny and shaded options for dining and relaxing. The reality of the views when you are there really is mouth-openingly beautiful!
We are currently refurbishing it completely throughout so that the standard of the inside matches the outside, with contemporary new furniture, fittings and art to create an even more attractive and relaxing environment for our guests.
Especially with this discount, if you compare it to other very top class villas in the area, we think it represents really excellent value, so please try it out and let us know what you think!
Also, if you feel there is something lacking from our extensive list of additional services and facilities that are provided within and close to the villa, please let us know as we may have overlooked something and/or we may be able to incorporate this within the accommodation to make your stay even more enjoyable.
Less than one hour from Malaga airport, this impressive and spacious, detached four-bedroom villa is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery, with a 10-metre-long private pool, plenty of sunny and shaded terrace space for outdoor dining, and breathtaking views over La Herradura bay.
If you want to leave the car in the garage, you can easily walk down the hill to La Herradura village with its sandy beach, restaurants, beach bars and shops, although if you’re not too fit you may wish to take a taxi back up the hill! Or by car it is only about five minutes each way.
The Area
On the edge of the Cerro Gordo Nature Park, & situated on the outskirts of the town of La Herradura on the Costa Tropical, this charming & quiet residential community of Los Altos enjoys the best of both worlds: it is within a mile or so of the shops, restaurants, bars, sporting activities & the beach, but is high enough in the hills that you can peacefully enjoy the villa’s exquisite 180-degree coastal views.
The Costa Tropical is so-called because it is warmer than inland areas & the Costa del Sol in the winter, & stays warm without getting oppressively hot in the summer. Typical temperatures are high 20s to low 30s throughout the spring & summer months, & in the high teens & low 20s in the late autumn & winter.
La Herradura itself is delightful: this upmarket town has its own historical charm & a thriving Spanish community, as well as an international mix of discerning locals and tourists. There are restaurants and bars in the town & on the beach itself to suit every taste, from traditional Spanish cuisine & tapas to a full range of international cuisine & fine dining.
Local attractions include the Alhambra Palace and Sierra Nevada’s ski resorts in Granada, which are each one hour’s drive away. Almuñécar is a 10-minute drive & has a castle, a brand new aquarium, a water park for the children to enjoy, & plenty of lovely shops in the old town. Nerja is also a 10-minute drive away & has many lovely shops, the famous Chiringuito de Ayo paella restaurant on Burriana beach, & the beautiful Caves of Nerja to explore. The whitewashed village of Frigilana is a 20-minute drive away, but Almuñécar’s old town can be just as lovely if you’re willing to walk to the top of it.
You can hire canoes, catamarans & small boats from both La Herradura beach and Almuñécar beach. Horse riding is available at La Herradura and in Nerja. The water closest to the villa is the National Marine Reserve, only five minutes drive away, where there is fantastic scuba diving and snorkeling.
The Villa
Villa Celeste sleeps 10 people and a baby in a cot & has a large 10-metre-long private pool which is not overlooked. It has plenty of wide terraces for eating outside & enjoying the outdoor lifestyle in the sun or the shade. Sunbeds & parasols are provided. There is a gas barbecue available if you fancy cooking al fresco, & there is also a gas cooker in the kitchen.
Each of the four double-size bedrooms, all with their own private bathroom, have the option for double or single beds. Each room is light and airy, & all have sea views.
Air conditioning is installed throughout the villa: within the lounge, dining room and snug areas, as well as all of the bedrooms.
The villa has two lounge areas, a dining room, & plenty of space outside with outdoor furniture provided, making this villa suitable for one or two families, or a group of friends. There is also a private drive inside the entrance gate and a garage.
Extremely child friendly, the pool is completely surrounded by a lockable gate & there is a hard cover for the pool as a further safety measure. Arm bands & inflatables are also provided.
Los Altos has an exclusive, gated-community family area within 100 metres of the villa, which is completely free to use for those renting with us. This area consists of two pools, one for adults and one for children, as well as two paddle tennis courts.
On Arrival
Malaga airport, at just under an hour away, is the closest and easiest airport to fly to & from. As one of the busiest airports in Europe, there are many flights from all over Europe to Malaga, including several a day from UK airports. Granada airport is just over an hour away.
If you want to avoid hiring a car, there are regular buses from the airport. Taxis are also available or we can arrange for a private car to collect you. Once you arrive at the villa, you can walk to the restaurants, shops, beach and bars or hire local taxis to get around.
We will send you detailed instructions of how to get here, and our property manager can either meet you at the villa or guide you in. She speaks five languages & will be available to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.
You will also be given a substantial welcome hamper on arrival for your convenience, which will be useful if you arrive at the villa when the shops are closed or if you are too tired to go shopping straight away, this includes a bottle of cava, bottle of red wine, bottle of water, crisps and olives. There will be tea and coffee waiting in the villa for you and milk in the fridge. If you’re arriving late on the Saturday the shops are closed on Sundays so you may wish to ask our property manager to buy you some essentials ready for when you arrive
You can walk to the town, the beach & the nearest shops, or it’s five minutes by car.

Views all around were superb, was the wow factor.
Sun all day long. Air con was great.
Pool was amazing. Location & parking easy.
You definitely need to hire a car to stay here which we did. Location to a pub or restaurant was much further than we expected. Attention to detail on cleaning could have been better, shower surrounds/trays need deep clean. Stair wall down to lower bedroom has an obvious problem with damp, & this does smell damp. Our fridge also had overwhelming smell of fish. These things did not detract from a fabulous stay though. We would return.

Fantastik place, Maybe it should be more information about the distance to the beach.
If you’re not very fit you will need a car or a motorbike. But a great house and a fantastik wiew.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay.
One small thing is new aircon needed as it does nothing in the bedrooms

Great position set on the hillside overlooking the town and bay. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, so no through traffic. Good sized pool with sea views too. Loads of outdoor seating and a very efficient bbq. Rooms were all air conditioned with all the facilities needed to make our stay very comfortable. The stand out for us was the property manager - Lee - who couldn’t be more helpful in welcoming us, making suggestions and even rescuing a parasol that was blown over the edge. She is an absolute star!!!

We have been lucky enough to stay in many lovely properties booked through Vrbo over the last few years, but Villa Celeste topped all the others and was perfect in every way.
These are some of the reasons why :)
The views of La Herradura horseshoe-shaped bay and the surrounding hills and forests are simply breathtaking, and the villa was obviously configured to make the most of these whether you are opening your bedroom shutters in the morning, taking meals on the terrace, or lying by the pool.
The villa is huge, much bigger than you appreciate from the photos, with 4 big double bedrooms, a really beautifully decorated living/dining room (the picture window is a stroke of genius), and at least 4 areas where you can sit and socialise as a family and follow the sun from early morning to late afternoon. Plus it's totally private, you are not overlooked at all in any part of it.
The pool area is so lovely - south-facing, with a big rock wall on the north side, it gets the sun all day, and even with our May weather in the early-mid twenties it was the perfect temperature to swim in. And its pretty big, about 8M so you can actually get some meaningful exercise in if you are so minded. On a couple of occasions we woke to find a couple of mountain goats on the rocks on the far side of the pool area which made for a brilliant photo :)
The owners have obviously thought of EVERYTHING to make guests feel as welcome and as at home as possible. So the kitchen has every utensil you'd ever need, plus loads of pans, dishes, tableware, wine glasses etc. There are plenty of comfortable loungers by the pool, lots of towels including beach towels, mattresses toppers, rugs and spare duvets for the beds. The sofas are great, there is air con on every floor, the WIFI and satellite TV work really well, there are books, games, binoculars for the views etc, etc, honestly we couldn't fault a thing. Lee who greeted us, sorted some shopping for us and helped with a back support when my wife put her back out was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful.
Finally the villa is really well situated, 5 mins drive down to the promenade and beach (which has miles of free parking) in La Herradura, loads of restaurants there to choose from too (our favourite was Amarre). Also only 15 mins drive to Nerja and less than that to the Caves of Nerja, well worth a visit.
All in all we loved everything about our stay, we couldn't recommend it more.

We had a fantastic stay in villa Celeste in La Herradura. The house is comfortabel and very well decorated, good beds and very complete, inside and outside. We enjoyed the great views, the walks in the park (mountain up! and very close to the house), the sunny weather, the small and friendly restaurants in la Herradura ( especially the Italians) and not really far form interesting Granada and beautiful Malaga. Very kind owners an a helpful property manager. So, if you are not enjoying your holiday in this house, you have a problem!!! Thanks a lot Tim and Lou and we love to come back in May with our children and grandchildren! Gabriele and Aad

This is a truly magnificent villa, set in a beautiful and unspoilt location with breathtaking panaramic views of La Herradura and the spectacular mountains beyond.
Located at the end of a no through road and amongst a small cluster of other luxurious homes, Villa Celeste provides significant privacy and absolute peace and quiete for a truly relaxing holiday.
The villa is superbly finished throughout; it is clean, safe and extremely well equipped for all ages and requirements. We were a party of 7 and it was very easy to spread out to find some peace in the shade and read a book or to sunbathe undisturbed whilst others played in the pool and on the table tennis.
Correspondence with Tim, the Owner and Rachel, the property Manager (whos office is just a short 5 minute drive to the seafront) was flawless throughout and it was reassuring to know that someone was on hand for advice or to help address any issues...
We had a minor problem with the kettle which stopped working on our second day and after a quick chat to Rachel while passing through from the local supermarket, there was a brand new replacement delivered to the door within just a couple of hours - Nothing major, I know, but from past experiences, it's easy to overlook a minor matter which can unnecessarily escalate to something more significant, so important to mention the high standard of support provided by Rachel and Costa Tropical Villas.
Tim has clearly spent a lot of time and effort on the fine detail to make Villa Celeste a magnificent place to visit and it certainly impresses in every respect.
I could go on, but as all other 5* reviews have already mentioned, this is a superb find which fails to disappoint and I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Tim, Lou, Rachel and the magnificent Villa Celeste for a superb holiday.

THANK You, Tim & Lou for giving us the opportunity to rent this fabulous villa in La Herradura for two weeks this summer. Fantastic view over the bay, sunrise and sunset. Everything in the house worked perfectly, and we (Family of 9 adults and one small child 3 motnhs) have had one of the best holidays ever. Our "morning-guests" (goats) were just a funny experience. We will be back for sure :-)

have to start this review simply by agreeing with all the other 5 star reviews here. They are all pretty accurate and Villa Celeste did not disappoint in any way. It is a bit of a trek up from la Herradura and you really do need a car or a taxi back (tip, get the restaurant to order you one). The upside is stunning views, cooling breezes, peace and quiet and a real sense of being amongst nature (goats, wild boar, dolphins in the bay and many different species of birds). We took a walk up through the woods to the Mirador Restaurant one evening and were rewarded with stunning views back west towards Malaga/Nerja.
The villa was really well equipped, the nutribullet in particular got heavy use for making 'healthy' fruit smoothie cocktails. The beds were huge and comfortable, the TV and Wi-Fi worked well and the air-con in the bedrooms was useful at night (didn't really need it during the day). The outside spaces, especially the terrace off the downstairs master bedroom were great and the pool was a really good size. The villa and the outside areas were also really clean. This was our 3rd Villa holiday in la Herradura and we really are big fans of the area now and can't wait to explore further.
Tim was spot on during the booking process with great communication and it was a real bonus to discover that Rachel Langley was the local agent as we knew her from last year and found her (again) just to be a really helpful, reliable and knowledgeable person.
Overall, highly recommended and almost forgot....great binoculars!

We have just spent 4 weeks at this spacious, well-equipped and comfortable villa. We loved it, and La Herradura has, now discovered, become our favourite coastal town in Spain. Both owner Tim and managing agent Rachel were very helpful and friendly. Strongly recommended, and we hope to return next year.

We have just returned from a glorious week at the Villa Celeste. What an incredible find this villa is!! From the discreet entrance to the amazing views from the patio and the swing chair by the pool.....the villa offers total relaxation. Lots of space for everyone and complete privacy. And from every patio, a stunning view.We barbequed most nights or ate out in the vast array of tapas bars and beach restaurants before falling into the most enormous bed. Luxurious bed linen and soft fluffy towels...just makes me smile remembering it all!!A table tennis table was delivered during our stay. This, combined with the pool and the swing ball gave us more than enough opportunities for activity. We did visit Granada which was about 50mins away. Well worth the journey through the mountains.Tim could not have been more helpful when we first enquired about the villa and the description really doesn't do the property justice. The groceries we ordered were on the kitchen table when we arrived and the wine was chilling in the fridge....but not for long!As you can probably tell, we loved it. Absolutely, we would recommend this villa!

Villa Celeste lives up to all the expectations and more! It is a very warm, clean and well-thought out home, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. As an example, I have never been at rental before where so many dishes were supplied. We love to cook, eat and drink, so this was greatly appreciated. There were four of us, and we found both master bedrooms (downstairs and upstairs) very comfortable and spacious, with lots of wardrobes/cabinets for storage. But, of course, the main feature of the villa is the view. It is simply second to none! It was amazing to wake up and watch the sunrise every morning straight from our bedroom window. Or we could come down and enjoy it with a cup of coffee through a huge window in the dining room. We did not use the outdoor spaces too much because of the cooler weather, but the numerous terraces and the pool area looked amazing. We can't wait to come back when it's a bit warmer!I can't say enough about the responsiveness and the great customer service - both by the owners and the property management company. We love the area as well, so we definitely plan on coming back!

We looked at lots of villas on-line before finally deciding on Villa Celeste and we were glad we did.
The owners Tim and Lou have been very helpful from start to finish and the service was first class.
The villa is clean, spacious and well equipped with an excellent pool and views to die for.
We would definitely recommend the villa and will use it again next time we are in the area.

We loved Villa Celeste; its views and amenities exceeded expectations which were already high based on the photographs. A beautiful setting and a gorgeous interior (which is so rare in holiday villas) in which to relax, with all the mod cons we could possibly need and more. As a couple, we had the luxury of having it all to ourselves but did think it would be a really good villa for a family or a group of people as there was so much space but at the same time, opportunity for some privacy with the various floors and terraces. La Herradura has an abundance of restaurants and bars for every taste. The Marina at the other side of town is particularly pretty and definitely worth a visit. I would have to say that the walk back up to the villa from town is perhaps not for the faint-hearted but to be honest, we were so happy in the villa that we didn’t mind a taxi ride back up on the few times we walked down in the evening.

Everything about this Villa was better than expected.
Spotlessly clean and well maintained, Tim and Louise have created the perfect Holiday Home by which all others will be judged.
All of the cliches are true and yes, we do hope to return.
If there is a negative it would be the walk back from town, but we rarely ventured out.

We stayed as a party of six adults and two children.
There were several points that made this villa stand out from any other I have stayed at before.
Firstly the views. The photos on Homeaway are totally true to life, they are simply stunning. I have stayed in sea view villas and apartments before but this beat anything else hands down.
Secondly the villa itself. All the rooms are decorated and furnished very tastefully and it is very clean. And it was also the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in, it seemed that there was everything we needed. Outside there was a barbeque, inflatables for the pool, swinging hammock, loads of sun loungers, parasols. The pool area was amazing and gated for security.
Inside, a fully equipped kitchen (nespresso, nutribullet, plenty of crockery and cutlery). And kids are catered for too as there is a high chair and cot (I think you need to request it).
The villa is a little way from the village and you do really need a car to get up and down, especially in the heat. La Herradura is lovely and very spanish (they were very patient with my bad spanish but I think it does help if you at least make an effort). We went to a few of the restaurants, mainly the ones right on the beach. Our favourites were El Chambao de Joaquin (tucked right away the first one on the beach in the direction of the villa - very friendly) and La Sardina (great atmosphere). We didn't use the beach much as we couldn't tear ourselves away from the pool but my son did some snorkelling down there and enjoyed it. It is darker sand, sometimes stony (as I think many beaches in the area are) and I would recommend light swimming shoes. We also discovered the delights of the daily market, about half way along on the front where they have fresh fish and veg most days.
The supermarkets in the village looked adequate but as we were driving we tended to go to the larger ones in either Nerja or Almunecar.
We loved whitewashed Nerja, especially the Balcon de Europa area where you can stroll around, shop, eat, drink cocktails and even go to the beach (down steep steps but very beautiful) in the space of a couple of hundred metres.
Burriana Beach just next to Nerja was also very good, more commercial than the others but with lots of shops and restaurants and reasonably priced sunbeds with parasols for rent. There is a municipal parking just as you drive down the hill to it then a 5 minute walk away to the beach.
We had a really amazing holiday.

A moment in time on the terrace of this fabulous villa....watching the sunset, glass of fizz in hand, great company, warm air and dolphins swimming in the bay !!!
We had excellent communications with the owners and everything was perfect on arrival. The accommodation was very flexible, we were a group of ladies but it would suit families very well too.
We hired a car from Malaga and it is a good motorway journey to La Herradura.
Out and about, we found sunbeds and a great restaraunts on the beach in La Herradura including local dish of the day which is always great value!
Brilliant fish market if you are cooking your own. The town of Nerja nearby (15 mins) if you want more shops and beaches. Don't miss a trip to Frigiliana up in the hills, very picturesque. Look out for any local Fiestas whilst you are there and the Caves are a local attraction too and you can cool off !!

Stunning views of the bay and mountains from choice of terraces and balconies. The description was certainly met as villa was very spacious, clean and well maintained and tastefully furnished with everything needed for a relaxing holiday including own pool. Great customer service. Thoroughly recommend.
