About this villa rental
Afife is a small village on the Costa Verde, under an hour's drive from Oporto Airport and the World Heritage city of Porto, the home of Port wine. Popular over many decades with wealthy Porto families, many of whom have their summer houses in the village to take advantage of the cooling sea breezes. Minutes from the long sandy beaches, the village stretches into the forested hills above, which is where our house sits, backing onto eucalyptus and pine trees.
The villa is approached through a terraced garden and comprises of a Main House, originally a farmhouse, and a Guest House next to the pool. There are multiple terraces to eat on to suit all tastes and times of the day with different amounts of shade. Although some parts of the property have sea views, the main outlook is over the peaceful valley with its patchwork of fields and terraces of vines.
The Main House has been extended and modernised over the 45+ years we've owned it and now has a large sitting room with a high vaulted ceiling, a large kirchen, 3 bedrooms, 3 bath or shower rooms and a utility room. The Guest House was built about 10 years ago and has a sitting room and a large bedroom, both with french doors onto a long shaded terrace, a small kitchen ideal for preparing poolside meals and a large bathroom.
The kidney shaped Pool adjoins the Guest House terrace. Beyond are further terraced lawns, leading into woodland.
The scent of eucalyptus and lavender in the air ensure you'll sleep like a baby!

The property was even better than the photographs, and at every stage of our holiday, Maurice and Lina answered our questions and tended to our (very minor) requests. In all respects, a perfect holiday destination.

A delightful villa in beautiful surroundings
This is a wonderful house for a relaxing, family holiday. The accommodation is spacious with excellent bathrooms and a lovely private pool, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Nearby beaches are clean and uncrowded, and there are interesting little towns to explore.
The owner's staff were friendly and helpful and the welcome gift of food and wine was the best we've ever had! The villa more than met our expectations, and we would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking to stay in this unspoiled part of Portugal.

An amazing property in a stunning location.
Maurice was so helpful with our booking. His house is just stunning and equipped with everything you could need. The grounds were immaculate and Lina was so helpful. The pool was big enough for lengths and crystal clear and the beach a 10 min drive. A pizza in Dolce Vianna in Vianna, breakfast in caminha square and an evening beer in Ponte de Lima square are all a must. Thank you Maurice for a fantastic holiday.

Really Lovely Property - Highly Recommended
We had a lovely holiday in Casa do Campo Pequeno. The owner, Maurice, and his staff (the wonderful Lina and Maria) could not have been more helpful. The property was exactly as described and Maurice went out of his way to fence off part of a terrace to keep our young kids safe from the pool (we had been worried about this but it was a great solution). The area was beautiful with lots of almost empty beches. We had a really wonderful holiday and hope to book again for 2018. Thank you!

A wonderful house that led to a fantastic holiday
We stayed here for two weeks in August and really can't recommend it enough. The house is beautiful, set in lovely grounds, is very well maintained and has a good, logical, layout for a large family. Imagine lovely, relaxing days by the pool, with lunch on the patio, occasionally snacking on the grapes from the vine twisting around the porch. The view is beautiful of the green hills, and at night you hear the surf from the coast. We can also recommend the local area as a destination - it was our first trip to Northern Portugal and the place really grows on you. It's a fairly quiet local area, apparently with not a huge number of visitors, but it's not clear why - the quality of the beaches is superb and after the surfers went home, we often had them to ourselves.
Maurice, the owner was beyond helpful and thoughtful from my first enquiry to the end of our stay - he works very hard to ensure that you have all of the information you need and any possible assistance necessary in the local area. Just really professional, yet friendly with it - a very positive experience from the outset.
Again, we cannot recommend the house and Maurice highly enough!

A very enjoyable stay at this characterful villa
This is a lovely villa with peaceful surroundings, surrounded by woodland with easy access to the sea. We have stayed in many villas over the past 30 years and would highly recommend this one. The main house has much character, is comfortably furnished and spacious. The annex is a great asset with self contained facilities but close enough for use by an extended family group. The local representative, Maria, could not have been more helpful, and the owner was also excellent to deal with. The weather was a little disappointing during our stay but we loved the area which retains great charm and is unspoilt by mass tourism. We are likely to visit again.

A GREAT PLACE
The villa sleeps six comfortably in the main house and two very comfortably in the detached pool house. The grounds are beautiful, and the villa is within striking distance for day trips to Santiago de Compostela, A Guarda, Braga, Porto, Guimaraes, etc. The wine is great and inexpensive, the people are gracious and helpful. The house is quiet and beautiful. It is a great deal. I recommend it.

Thanks for a Great Holiday
We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully appointed villa which was exactly as described. We travelled with our 2 children and my husband's parents - the separate guest house worked really well for us, giving us all plenty of room. It was really difficult to drag ourselves away from the villa but, when we did, we loved Afife with its long empty beach and exploring the local restaurants. The owner was very helpful prior to our arrival and his staff while we were at the villa were delightful.

A Wonderful Home Away From Home
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The photos don't really do it justice and don't capture the beauty and serenity of the setting and the views across fields to the Tower House and glimpses through the trees of the sun setting over the sea. The house was very comfortable and has plenty of room for people to get away from each other when they want!
We were met by Maria who left a very welcome gift of food and local wines to get us started and who later helped us with directions to some markets we wanted to visit.
We really enjoyed the local beaches - my husband liked to walk on Afife beach every morning at 9 and often reported that he saw no-one else. It does get busier later in the day but is never crowded.
Thank you for a lovely holiday - we'll be back!
