About this chalet rental
This is an impressive, natural looking chalet constructed with chunky larch timbers which makes it look like it really belongs in the trees that surround it! It is located just above Les Houches village centre and is only a 5 minute walk to all the local shops, bars and the excellent 'Delice' restaurant. The Chambus also stops here which connects Les Houches to all the other resorts in the Chamonix Valley. The chalet is a 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the Bellevue cable car and the foot of the Kandahar piste.
Rocky Mountain has been lovingly created using recycled timber, Australian hardwood and sun bleached driftwood, natural materials that give it a unique rustic character. Original furnishings from all over the world complement the design of the chalet and create a tasteful and homely place to stay. There are lots of comfy sofas and beautiful curtains throughout the chalet. The large kitchen and dining room is fully equipped for preparing and sharing the most delicious dinners. It has a huge deck with beautiful views and a lovely wooden hot tub overlooking the forest. All in all, a very comfortable chalet but not too 'precious' so an ideal place for families and large groups of friends. If you are looking for a 'one off' chalet where you can feel totally relaxed, look no further!
The chalet is set in its own grounds surrounded by woodland with its own small garden area to relax in. There is a small mazot behind the chalet where our chalet manager Valentin lives and is on hand if you have any questions or need anything explained or fixed!
Les Houches Village: With its spectacular backdrop of soaring peaks and sweeping glaciers, Les Houches combines the charm of a traditional alpine village with the splendour of high mountain scenery. There are some excellent restaurants and a few good bars in the village, but if you want serious nightlife you need to step out in Chamonix - stop by the Jekyll, a real old Irish pub with excellent food and music, the 'Elevation' for something a bit lively and the ‘Garage’ for late night dancing until 4am.
Skiing & Boarding at Les Houches: Les Houches has one of the most varied ski areas in the Chamonix Valley particularly suitable for beginners and intermediates. Enjoy stunning views of Mt. Blanc from the beautiful long woodland trails that wind their way down to the village. As well as being an excellent resort in its own right, the central location of Les Houches, in relation to the other Mont Blanc resorts, makes it an ideal base for adventurous skiers and boarders wishing to explore the whole Valley.
Skiing & Boarding in the Chamonix Valley: Covering 14 resorts and 700kms pistes, the Mont Blanc Skipass opens up an unrivalled choice of skiing, including some of the longest and steepest runs in Europe. In the spring the valley provides simply the best off piste in the Alps, including the world famous 26km 'Vallée Blanche'. From the ‘Grands Montets’ (3300m) there are loads of off piste options and challenging black runs off the glaciers. You can also ski down into Switzerland from Le Tour and the pass covers you for a day out at Courmayeur in Italy.

Very clean and well stocked beautiful chalet.
Owners and manager were very helpful in providing information prior to our trip & during.
Lots of bathrooms which was great for a group of 12 getting ready!
Kitchen table was large enough for all of us to sit and eat together, which was amazing.

We have just had the most amazing time in Les Houches. The view of the mountains from the balcony is completely out of this world. The chalet is quirky and comfortable and was much loved by our teenagers. Thank you Steve - this was exactly what we needed!

We enjoyed a week escape to this property before Christmas. The neighbourhood is quiet with all amenities close by. A car is essential and in the winter months we believe snow chains are too.
The property is well equipped and as a sanity of 12, it met all of our needs.
The village of Les Houches is lovely. Has a supermarket, museum, bars, outdoor shops, hairdresser and a pizza takeaway(which is awesome!). There’s a ski lift at the bottom of the village and one about 3/4 min drive at le Prarion. Ski was good for early season. Chamonix isn’t far away and never fails to disappoint with its lovely streets and spectacular views up to the Aguile Du Midi. We went skiing at La Flégère which is a great site with spectacular views of Mont Blanc.

We were 7adults and a child and stayed here for hiking in the sureounding area for a week during summer. The chalet is beautiful and cosy, and had everything we needed. There was plenty of space for everyone. The chalet is quirky, but suited us just fine. There are 4 bedrooms in the basement, which are a bit more private and sound proof than the rooms on the first floor. None of the rooms close fully, and the chalet itself doesnt lock properly(or at least we couldnt figure out how to) but that didn’t bother us. The 3 bedrooms rooms upstairs are not completely closed off, so if you’re a light sleeper, this might be a problem. The chalet is lovely though, and lots of outdoor space for BBQs, the hot tub is a bonus after a hard day’s walking, even in the summer, and it is a 10 minute walk down a steep slope to a good grocery store. The chalet is great for groups, and we would visit again.

Another great holiday for us in this magical 'tree house' chalet! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and the living room had lots of comfy sofas for reading, relaxing and playing games - we had many fun evenings in there! We had plenty of hot water and we love the new shower room Steve. Thank you to Valentin, nothing was too much trouble for him. The kids loved playing in the garden and hot tub and made a cool den in the woods! The scenery is magnificent and there is so much to do in the Chamonix Valley and surrounding area. We will definitely see you again next year!

I love the fact that it is an extremely welcoming chalet in its design and atmosphere. Although a healthy walk (10mins) into the town and to catch the bus to the slopes, we all found it rather invigorating - you can of course drive. The kitchen is well equipped with a rustic large table for everybody to relax and eat. The sitting room is spacious and great for relaxing. All the bedrooms are roomy and light and there are plenty of bathrooms. I loved the balcony and terrace on a sunny day - pure bliss.

we just spend a week in the "Rocky Mountains". The house is situated 800m up the road from the bus stop and centre of the village. It means that its walk able, but you are better of if you have your own transportation. Thats also handy since the ski areas of greater Charmonix area are scattered (and thus not connected) through the valley.
The house itself is very charming. There are three levels, with bedrooms on the base and top level, and the kitchen and gigantic loung at the level of the veranda. It seems to be hand made, with the top two levels almost entirely made of from wood.
Its not excessively luxurious: the three bedrooms at the top lack privacy with thin wooden walls and doors in the form of a curtain or doors an open window. They do have charm and great view, but not all have opening windows. At the ground floor, rooms do have concrete walls.
I would recommend this location, although I can understand how the specialities that I consider charming are not for everyone or every group.
For background: we were with a group of two families where the "kids" are actually 30+ years old in reality. It was clearly end of season, with temperatures in the village touching 20 degrees.
