About this apartment rental
Welcome to Pineapple Place at Makaha Surfside—our little slice of paradise on Oahu’s beautiful Waianae coast! This beautiful, well-appointed and tastefully decorated one-bedroom top-floor condo has spectacular views that overlook the sheltered lagoon & beach. Perfect for sunbathing, shell collecting and snorkeling. Watch the local green turtles that visit most mornings, as well as spinner dolphins a little further out, visible right from the lanai. Whale sightings are frequent during winter/spring visits. And the nightly sunsets are simply epic! Minimum 30-day booking required due to passage of new Honolulu Bill 89.
Literally, steps from your own semi-private lagoon on Oahu's Waianae Coast (west side), for some of the best snorkeling on the island! Just a couple of miles down the road from famous Makaha Beach, home of the annual Buffalo's Longboard Surf Classic. This area is uncrowded, non-touristy and authentically local Hawaiian!
To the east is the beautiful Makaha Valley, with its lush green mountains (during the rainy-er seasons). Enjoy a rustic beach hike at Ka'ena Point and see the albatross sanctuary (1 of only 3 in the world) and monk seals or take a stream-fording jungle hike in the Makaha Valley.
We include plenty of ocean toys to enhance your stay: snorkeling gear, beach chairs, umbrella, towels & boogie boards. When you're not listening to the ocean sounds, you can watch Smart TV with Roku, or enjoy free wi-fi.
If you're looking for a cheap, no-frills crash pad, sorry, this isn't it! Our impeccably furnished condo sleeps 4 comfortably, and includes beautiful high-end dishes & drinkware for your dining & entertaining needs (we also include kid-friendly stuff in the pantry!). Nutri-bullet & juicer for healthy local-fruit smoothies. A guest couple (or kids) will love falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the easy-setup and comfortable couch/queen trundle bed.
Cross-breeze windows, ceiling fans, air conditioning, heat-blocking shades keep you cool & comfortable.
Secluded (one hour) from the busy pace of Waikiki, 40 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes to the Disney resort, restaurants & golf at Ko''olina, and a half hour to Waikele Premium Outlets and golf course.

A long way out with great ocean access
See title. You need a car unless you are a vigorous walker. A mile or so on highway to restaurant or shopping. For our first week month here we used Uber which saved several hundred dollars and met some nice drivers

Amazing Hawaii holiday
This was our second trip to Oahu and we could not have been more pleased with this rental for our stay. Geoff and Amanda have set up this lovely oceanfront unit with everything you need for a great holiday by the ocean! The apartment was clean, comfortable and fully stocked with kitchen and bathroom essentials as well as beach gear. The location of this property was perfect for us, as we are avid wildlife seekers. You get a great view of the turtles that come into the lagoon all throughout the day. There are many wonderful hikes and trails close by for birdwatching, including a coastal trail that leads to an albatross nesting site. Why stay in busy Waikiki and pay for expensive tours to see this area when you can stay right in it and out of the busy touristy areas? That said, the property is not far from grocery stores and everything you need and you can drive into Waikiki in less than an hour.
Geoff and Amanda provided all of the info we needed for an easy check in and departure and quickly responded to any inquiries we had. We wish we could stay forever and cannot recommend this property enough! We cannot wait to come back =)

An Annivesary to Remember!!
What a stay to remember!!
One of the only condos we have stayed at that was better than advertised. Pictures do not do it justice. We felt right at home the moment we walked through the door. Everything we needed to make our stay Great. Every time we come to Hawaii we stop at Snorkel Bobs and rent two sets of snorkel gear, boogie board and then buy a beach umbrella, beach mats. Not this time. Saved soooo much money. The Tarrs provide all the equipment and then some. Coolers for the beach, beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach umbrella, it goes on and on.
The condo is clean, cute, comfortable and loaded with everything for cooking and eating. The view is absolutely amazing. From the balcony we watched turtles, dolphins and whales playing in the ocean. Can't say enough about this special place.
Thank you Tarrs for making our 30 Anniversary so special.

Excellent condo, great hosts and beautiful view!
We had an amazing time here, where do we start? The condo is decorated beautifully! It has all amenities you need for a day at the beach, a night at home or a morning watching the turtles and dolphins from your deck! (Geoff and Amanda have really thought of everything! Even down to having extra sunscreen if needed)
Geoff was an amazing host! He provided us with a great list of things to do, places to go, what's in the condo, was very responsive and great to deal with!
The bay outside the condo was a great place to relax. It offers a protected place to swim, a small area with gently sloping sand into the ocean on one side which is great for swimming or kids, a deeper center with sealife through the reef and even some cliff jumping off the far side! Everyday we would watch turtles from the deck, and sometimes they even visited while we were swimming!
The only reason we took a star off was the noise from the road in the bedroom. It is on a busy highway and the bedroom is roadside and it's just using the typical glass louver type windows. HOWEVER...lol at the end of our trip we spoke with the handymen and the new windows were in for the condo which will remove that problem completely! See they do think of everything!
It's important to note that this is a more residential area of Oahu and with that you will see homeless areas, cars up on blocks and it has a bit of a rougher feel etc. ( this is also true of the areas around Waikiki, North Shore or other communities, so don't let it fool you) But the people are amazing, the condo complex is excellent, the lack of tourism is refreshing, beaches and snorkeling on that side is great and everything is about an hour away max, if you want to go!
Although the condo and area are not the Hilton on the outside, Geoff and Amanda make it feel like it on the inside! Look past the area and see the gem, visit the markets, the beaches, the sealife and experience Aloha! Enjoy!
